I bought mine brand new back in 08, still have it today. I recommend vacuum pump delete, cold air intake, replace the N80 Purge valve and regular maintenance and it will last a lifetime.

Make sure you check out the vacuum pump for the brake booster. They are notorious for a nasty oil leak. They sell an aftermarket fix that works great.

I bought that car new back in 08. Put about 90k miles on it before buying a new Audi, but that car was pretty solid. Never had any major issues and the most I ever had to pay to the mechanic was replacing the brakes. I love my new car now but seeing you drive that makes me feel nostalgic. That car treated me well for the years I've owned it.

I've always loved the smooth power delivery of the VWs! As you said, they are such an upgrade to a Honda or Mazda. They always felt cheap to me. VW had always had as solid feel! Nice video! Thanks for sharing.

Thats cap I had fully built modded af thunder bunny rabbit 09. 09 was fastest motor giving it nearly 200 horse stock. Compared to 06-08. And Id take 2006-2011 honda civic si all day over the rabbit. Once you hit 150k thing is trash. I had mine at 30k miles and drove the fck out of it. Transmission just not as satisfying to drive compared to Honda’s. Still good car if your a student. But sell it before tranny or Christmas lights get to you.

07k from VW is top notch engineering. Anyone that want's a reliable car, get a 5 cylinder 07k...Easy to work on, parts are cheap. Can start to be a little pricey to get some power out of it, but this engine is tuned down from factory to not compete with other models at the time. I've got roughly 200whp on mine, and that is more than enough for me in this car.

The 2.5l inline 5 produced for these cars was modeled after the Gallardo's 5.0L V10 cut in half. The GTI had the 2.0T and was modeled after the Veyron's 8.0L W16.

I almost got myself a nice VW Rabbit two door hatch for a beater car (I think the newer Rabbits are only 4 door hatchbacks). It was older and had only 70K miles for $4700, but I ended up taking the cheaper route by getting a beat up dented 1996 Toyota Avalon with close to 300K miles for my daily duties. So far it's been hanging tough for the past 8 months. My Mustang GT is my weekend ride. But anyway, the Rabbit was nice when I saw it. Nice car.

I'd have to disagree for the same price at least in my area the Hondas all had 180k + miles, and their paint was not nice. Also this was bought from an actual VW dealership, I'm sure private party would've been way cheaper. Lastly, this is way more fun to drive than a base Civic, maybe not an SI but those aren't cheap anymore.
