The McCoury's are easily one of the best bands ever, inventive, solid and brilliant musicians all.

I am all about the grateful dead! Jerry Garcia was a fan of del dating back to the 60s.... Needless to say I am sure he's smiling and grinning down from above

Nice. So much of the Dead's stuff translates so well in the bluegrass realm.

Garcia was a bluegrass musician for his entire life...I like his work with Old an in the Way more than his dead stuff

@@ImagemakerAi As you might be able to tell from my avi, I'm very well acquainted with Jerry Garcia's various musical endeavors.

Old and in the Way, best selling bluegrass album ever. Jerry was amazing, in many ways, he is still here.

Thanks LTFP. Please post the whole show if you have it. I never get to see most of these bands here in Canada and always look forward to seeing something new from your channel. Ronnie sounds so much like his dad that I can close my eyes an imagine its Del up there jammin' out some Dead tunes. That always puts a smile on my face. And who knows maybe he does groove along. Del's always been a pretty cool dude!

I don’t know if Del and Jerry ever met, but of course Dave Grisman and Jerry Garcia were good friends and recorded Bluegrass together. And Dawg and Del have recorded and toured together. But then Dawg as a young mando player knew Bill Monroe pretty well and Del had been a member of the Bluegrass Boys so there’s a lot of connections.

Found it - Jarrett Bellini - nice interview.
Del met Jerry in 1972 and Ronnie later sold him 2 banjos and got a Grateful Dead check in the mail.

No one can do this song like the dead did it. Everyone fucks up the timing & looses the swagger of the original.
