    PLEASE. Never give up.
I studied six weeks for my first ACT- and got a 23.
    I was devastated.
I then took it again, 26. Better, I guess. Thought it was done but I apparently signed up for one more. Decided I wouldn’t study, and knew it was a throwaway so I walked in super laid back and not nervous... thought I did alright but not amazingly.
    I got a 30 on that ACT.
    Don’t ever give up.

For the people who are about to take/recently took the ACT, don't stress yourself out about it. I took the ACT in April, and I didn't think that I'd scored well at all. I ended up getting a 26 composite, which is slightly above average for the schools that I plan to apply to. Even if you think you did badly after taking the test, your scores might not be so terrible after all.

My ACT journey is rather odd.
    Oct 2018: 22
    April 2019: 28
    December 2019: 28
    February 2020: 32
A 32 is not an "awesome" score, but still. I am not the most naturally intelligent, really. I think it depends a lot on work ethic as I spent a lot of my time practicing. The 22 and second 28 really discouraged me, but I just told myself to keep trying. Little tip: Science is what made my score rocket. It is the easiest way to raise your score if you improve it.

Started Junior year with Alg II (if you're wondering, transferred schools end of freshman year so credits messed up). Took Alg II for half a year, decided to take ACT in December as a kind of a guide to see where I'm at. 34. I was shocked. I'm top of my class but it's not a prestigious high school by any means, only ~250 people in my grade. I'm skipping pre-Calc and going to AP Calculus senior year so I can get ahead. Hoping to get into UCLA for biomedical science! Cheers!

Very good job, Miss. Super Tutor. I like how you prefaced the presentation by pointing out that test scores are NOT the end all and be all of a college application. Just one suggestion regarding GPA's. Not all GPA's are equal. Colleges, particularly the more selective will factor in the course selection through high school. They will compare the challenge has taken on and compared it with other students with the same GPA. The high school will send its' school profile to each college. The profile tells the college what AP or IB courses it offers, test scores in those May tests and other details as to how GPA is determined. I advise students who are looking at the more competitive colleges but thier high school doesn't offer more than 2 to 4 AP classes, to consider taking a CC course or two. A student can also take an AP test without taking the course. There are good test prep books for that.

After I got my score I retook it with a practice test, and didn’t time myself and I got a 33. I’ve been studying for the test for a month now, and I’m taking it in a week and I’ve been scoring 23-25s. My math and science have been a steady 26-27, but my English has been a freaken 22. Every dang practice is miss like 6 on the first 3 passages then the last two I start to run out of time and I have to usually guess on the last 5 or 8 questions. Then reading is just all over the place. Either a 21 all the way up to a 28 so idk.

Well, I actually find ACT math easy: simply recognize the simplest path to the solution and go for it. In the practice test I took, there was a set of problems regarding a floor tiling and it seemed pretty involved, but really it just came down to following the wording. Also, know not only the formulas and procedures but understand the logic behind them. GL 😀

I'll do the test on last time this October, but I can't garantee will get a score as high as 750 in my second try. I was getting scores in the low 700s in math with prep tests so I probably just messed something up that time, and I have studied a lot so I think I can easily raise the score on math easily.
Let's say I mess up and get just 660 on reading/writing, but now I can get 740 or more in math. My average score is the same, but will the high score in the two separate tests still help me?

I'm doing fine on the Math and Writing sections but I basically can't do well on the Reading. Time is the biggest problem but I also get pretty confused in the questions. Since there's no more official practice tests to take, how do you think I can raise my 300 on this section to maybe a 370 (out of the 400 points of this part). Please, give me some advice, because you are such a good tutor and I'm desperate for a 1500+ !!

Dear Brooke, my name is Ashley and I just recently subscribed to your channel since I am currently preparing to take my SAT (for the second time). I generally need your advice because my dilemma is that I always do poorly on standardized tests but I have a 4.0 cumulative GPA. My ambition is to get accepted to Stanford, Yale, or Princeton University but I am fearful that even when I try my hardest that I will eventually fail. What advice do you have for me to make my college application stand out from the rest regardless of my poor test score? If you answer, I would be eternally grateful. Have a great day! Sincerely, Ashley.

Ashley Onwuzuruike I know I'm not Brooke, but I thought I would add in my two sense. I'm not an expert but I jsut thought I'd share my opinion. Personally, I think the colleges you are aiming for are just a little high. Everyone applying to those colleges almost always has a 4.0 and amazing essays and amazing test scores so I think it would be hard to make tousled stand out. I feel you need atleast a 30 or up and a killer essay and a 4.0 to even be considered. Have you thought about taking like one step down. Colleges like Georgia tech are still super prestigious and have an amazing education but are about easier to get into. Some tips that might help you to stand out would be to apply to a less popular major. For example it would be near impossible to get into Stanford as a computer science major since that's what most the applicants are for. If it works for your field, you might consider a math and stats major since they are less popular. Also, make sure your essay is very personal since that's what a lot of people forget to do. Many try to keep it vague as to not embarrass themselves but get personal as it's your only chance to show you are more than just numbers. Also, your ethnicity might help you. I hope that helped. Good luck and I hope you are able to get into one of your dream schools. Just make sure to apply to some others too. I head that for Stanford, for evey student they accept, they deny two others who are just as qualified so it really is all chance. Good luck again:)

I know I’m taking the test later in high school but I might be taking it next year, as well. I’ve gotten all As (93-100%) since first grade. Do you think I can get maybe a 34 by the time I am a junior or senior? I really need a full scholarship or else I have to go to The school in town, which isn’t bad, but I feel I can do better.

    • @sahanak5041

Sabrina Fadzil I think it really depends on which test you like better. The ACT is focused more on speed where as the SAT gives more complex questions with more time. Also, if you are a good writer, then the SAT would be better as the writer is taken into account for your final score. Personally tho, I am a huge fan of the ACT. I love that it's simple and fast. I personally don't find the questions too difficult and I like how they give you lots of hints. I also like that it's a faster test so I don't have to concentrate for so long. That's just my opinion.
