- Here is a chilling true story for a dark winter evening. Watch it on Halloween only if you are not of a nervous disposition. You may consider it unsuitable for children. Don’t believe Ghosts and witches really exist? If you watch until the end you may change your mind.

Thanks to the multi talented Erin and Tim for providing the Whispering Witches and their cat, Cilla for giving us a taste of Rutterkin.

Ancaster, Lincoln, Bottesford, Dukes of Rutland, Ancaster crossroads.
Who else gets a shiver when go over a crossroads??
If only Jackanory was still going…! Great story telling and effects on a really interesting, if tragic, piece of history. Keep it coming!
It took a lot of time to make this one, Graham, so I’m pleased you liked it.
Fantastic, really enjoyed that Roy.
History made fun through bike riding. Love it 👍👍👍
Excellent👍Very interesting, liked the Black and White, very atmospheric😊
Great story, must go through that ford love cycling through ford's love the one at Geddington. Done that at least half a dozen time's
Well that was unexpected, though very well done.
I can see a new CZcams channel in my crystal ball!!!
Awesome to see some local history. I still tell school kids here in my school in Sydney about the village of Eyam in Derbyshire and its end to the Black Death.
Thank you Neil. I like to be a little unpredictable. You’ve given me food for thought regarding Eyam. I could find out where the Flower family lived but, as you know, the original plague cottages at Eyam are still lived in. On the subject of Sydney. While there I found the record of one of my ancestors who had his death sentence commuted to transportation and is listed as a resident of the Hyde Park Barracks. Enjoy your summer 👍
Hi @@RideWithRoy noticed that your latest video disappeared. Hope all is well?
Thanks, Neil, all fine, but your concern is much appreciated. I wasn’t happy with some of the production of that video so took it down. I am working on the edit for two more this weekend, so hopefully something new next week.
Great witch story and cycle ride Roy
love from persia
Cracking story telling Roy. Really enjoyed it. Some super editing there! 😊👍🚴
Thanks, Nige. The edit took ages!
Excellent story
I drive over that crossroad all the time and never knew any of this. Thank you so much for this video, so interesting. I'll think of her when I stop at those traffic lights now.
😂 I do the same
I was waiting for them to re appear in your local Halfords, well done Roy
They might be buried beneath the car park, Alastair 🤔
Love it
Great story Roy!
Congratulations Roy on a very well made and thrilling video. I have taken the liberty to post it on our bike club page too 👻 👏👏
Wow, thank you Bob. No liberty at all posting on the club page 👍
History lesson and a great story especially on my birthday "Halloween" - Thanks from a Warlock 👍
Happy birthday! I expect you will have special powers then.
@@RideWithRoy Thanks, no special powers. Enjoyed what you put together there 👍
Gracias por la historia,te sigo desde hace poco pero me parece un canal interesante a pesar de vivir en España me gusta ver lugares nuevos desde tus vídeos, sigue así un abrazo.
Gracias, Salvador, me alegra mucho oírlo. Espero que los vídeos sean más regulares durante el verano.
Nice work!
Very, very good Roy, better than anything on the 'telly' this evening, so interesting and so well told.
Roy, this is brilliant - great production and I gleaned a few new facts even though I'm familiar with the story. Thanks for bringing it to life!
This is brilliant Roy. Fitting for Halloween 👻 well done 🙌🏻 great vlog
Loved this
Thanks, Heidi, I really enjoyed making that one.
So, you're a storyteller, too. ❤️
Some of my friends have a different word for it, Arthur 😂
Great edit old boy!
Thanks Lad
Just seen a picture of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy with their wives at the Bull Inn Bottesford, apparently Stans sister was Landlady of it at the time,
I love stuff like this , and told perfectly too . Thanks for the video Roy
Loved that Roy 😁, a really good tale/storyteller
Loving it! If only they had a 'Café Allez' in the 1700's 😂 😂😂
If they did they'd probably serve eye of toad and ear of bat latte 😄
"somebody had to be blamed" >>> "witch-hunt"..... not a lot's changed innit. (ー△ー;)
Probably got worse as word now spreads instantly.
The true scary thing is that I'm actually related to those women
I’d say that’s an honour, Nick., I only have a convict ancestor, and he really was wrong’un. Since making this I’ve found that many of the locals had no idea about these events.
Didn’t you know Joan Flowers two daughters from your schooldays Roy?! 😂
I’m getting, on, Greig, but not that old 😂
Great bit of history telling Roy. Very poignant and cause of much head shaking at people's beliefs back then....and now....
Yes, I was very aware when making it that there were so many parallels with today, Bernie. Nothing changes.
