    Hi ROY just found your channel great stuff very informative.I come back to cycling after a 20 year gap and having a heart attack a year ago so getting fit again is a must. I'm planning rides similar to yours (but maybe not the same milage at first). Just wondering if you've done a video on tyres, I've got 28 mm marathons on my bike at the mo but thinking they might not be quite up to the job on off-road sections (canal paths ect). I'm in Cumbria so plenty of rides available, I'm my 60s and not a speed merchant! Thanks.

      @@stevea9766 you sound very much like me, Steve. I haven’t made a specific video about tyres but have referred to them in the past. I used Marathons on my Ribble and found them lacking grip when cornering in the wet - alarmingly so. I swapped them for Continental Contact Plus and my confidence in the wet has been restored. On my Tempest I run Schwalbe G1 Allround tubeless. They give the best balance between road and trail. Fortunately, I don’t do anything off road in the wet, as these have no traction on mud. I hope that helps.

    I just found this video, and want to thank you all SO very much for it. I've only recently had a real difficulty in fitting a tire, and am scouring the internet for a solution, and this looks like what i need. Im sols, and ordering one!! The new Pirelli P Zero TLR is a right difficult tire to mount. I thought my Schwalbe tires were the worst ever... until a couple of weeks ago. I rather ruefully must admit, I've been unsuccessful after every trick I know to mount them. I've tried everything, from leaving them in the hot sun all day, to a bit of soapy water solution along with the sun baked tires. All I've managed to do is ruin 2 Pirelli TPU tubes, and 2 Conti Race tubes. I hope the Tyre Glide will be the answer. Otherwise, I beleive I'm defeated, and will have to sell these new tires on to a mate, lol. Thanks again, Mr. Roy, you and your video may save my riding summer yet!!!

      @@barkerje2 thanks, John and I’m delighted you have joined. I’m not sure which power pack you are referring to. My current setup on the bar is my Chilli Tech traffic camera. There is also an integral bag on Redshift Kitchen Sink bar, which is ideal for holding the power pack for the camera/lights. That bar is now fitted to my Ribble and the Tempest Titanium has the new Top Shelf bar, also by Redshift. I’m really missing the bag so pleased to know they will be launching one for it soon. I also use a Restrap Frame bag for carrying camera kit and drones etc. I am a bit of a belt and braces type so carry far too much 😀 If I’ve missed the point, please point me to the video and time you are asking about.

      @RideWithRoy Před 6 dny

      I asked the question about the composition of the Elastomers. Redshift, understandably, won’t give too much of the design technicalities away but could tell me they are ‘Urethane springs’ that are ‘super durable and very resistant to chemicals, abrasions, and have an almost infinite life if you do not over compress them (which we take into account in our designs)’

    Well done both, I’ve enjoyed watching this series, it looked great fun. That would be my kind of bike packing, staying in hotels. You seem to have had a trouble free ride and no mechanicals, and apart from your off, thankfully with no injury a successful and safe ride

    What do you mean "Your roads? Who made them your roads?" And road tax is about emissions! Did you know you get no emissions on a bike. Majority of cyclists are also car drivers so we know the high way code. So you're talking rubbish most of time. The amount of near misses I've had on my bike because of idiot drivers is ridiculous..

      If you’re replying to me then I’m afraid it’s you talking rubbish. I made this rather misleading intro to draw in the cyclist haters in an effort to educate them. Sadly, it’s seems a few cyclists aren’t watching more than the intro before commenting, which only serves to make you look stupid. If your comment was replying to someone else’s comment then I apologise, but I couldn’t see a thread.

    Is the Torque and speed sensor integrated in the back engine?

    You soldiered on and accomplished your goal! Just as important is, on reflection, realized it had all been a bit much. Laudable is your contingency planning if things get too risky.

    Well done both of you. I'm glad that I had my own little project to take me northwards (The Great North Road) as those off road cycleways aren't for me! Regarding rest days I agree with you. My strategy is to have a couple of short days, trying to stay somewhere interesting the night between.

    “It was a good idea at the time” springs to mind lol I’m only joking, honestly Roy and Wendy, you both did fantastically well on completing such a tough and challenging trip. Well done to you both😊

    I knew I would like this series and I wasn't wrong. All credit to you both. A trip like you've just made will be one of your favourite memories to look back on. I'm sure you must both have been very tired at the end. Thanks to you and Wendy for taking your viewers along with you.👍

    Still friends? Did you take any rest days? I think that’s the secret, to take a day off when you feel like quitting

    • @RideWithRoy
      @RideWithRoy Před měsícem

      Fortunately we never got to the quitting stage so not building in a rest day worked for us. Any longer and we would have needed one but we feel it would have been harder to get going again.

    Great series of videos Roy and Wendy. Loved the adventures. Well done. If you fancy a shorter 3 day adventure why not look at "the bay" cycle way (around Morecambe bay from Barrow in Furness to Glasson Dock near Lancaster). I did it with my 80 year old cycling mad father in law a couple of months ago and added extra inland loops from the designated route for extra distance. Amazing scenery, manageable daily distances and climbs, and generally quiet roads. I know you can get trains to barrow and Lancaster so maybe one to think about for you both in the future. cheers

      Thanks for that suggestion. We love that part of the country, after starting our Way of The Roses ride from Morecambe Bay, so definitely one to consider.

    That was great. Just picked up a new RC520 Gravel. From what the shop said, new wheels have sold the old problems. Mine came with some paint problem ( they said it on the eshop ), so a £240 discount and reduction in paint warranty from 2 years to 1 year. When I picked it up in the shop, the paint is as perfect as a non-2nd version ( the problem as noted was a 2nd layer of matt black paint not adhering to the underlying finished green paint properly in the 2-tone paint scheme. But the guy in the shop said it was the 4th of these 2nds to come in with perfect paint. "Just don't put a 1000psi power washer on it" ). Now have to get some lights - yours look great. All the best and greetings from Prague, CZ
