Today I have a long requested video about tips, tricks, mechanics and secrets in Vampire Survivors and, following, is a list of the mentioned videos and secret codes. This video took over 15 hours to make and I decided to do it despite the fact that these videos usually perform quite poorly (not necessarily view wise, but similar to tutorials people only look for specific things and skip a lot. There is no reason to subscribe if they got what they wanted).
I am right now trying to replace my old Laptop with a top-of-the-class computer so I don't have to buy another one anytime soon. I will of course use the money from CZcams for this, but a 20-40% tax cut applies which makes it a lengthy process. I decided to not spam this comment and instead use the description, so all mentioned videos, codes and links to the vampire survivors official discord are in the description. I want to thank everyone for the insane support, especially lately. It has been a great pleasure doing CZcams and you are a big reason for that.
This video was long requested and took me over 15 hours to make - which is the main reason why I usually avoid them. They are not time efficient (effort vs outcome) and people that usually look for these only want to have the info and then leave. That makes sense given the context, but less sense for me as a CZcams to do these then. Either way, I really wanted to make this compilation, so here you go! I most likely won't be able to upload a video tomorrow, but let's hope for the best. UnderMine and Core Keeper are paused **for now** until I am back on track for Vampire Survivors.
Knife, guns and their evolution can crit by default.
@@internetexplorerpony Knife has no crit chance on it, guns also not. Phieraggi has one but at least the last time I checked it didn't work.
@@DexTag That's not exactly true, I checked again and, Knife, Thousand Edge, all guns still has crit chance at 0.1, the usual 10% chance to crit. I am not sure if they actually crits in game but the codes are still there.

For Knife I would've understood that I searched for them and was on Gennaro by accident, but for Guns I have no clue what was going on. I'll check all 4 later and see if Guns and Phieraggi got fixed, and if Knife does crit

If anything this game shows you dont need 5 years to import designs and ideas. Graphics are less important then people think. This game does this very well, and while there is a lot of code to explain each rule its implemented in a way that just feels super smooth. No micro transactions. If anything the game needs some dlcs just to support the makers. Give us more simple rouge like games that include a load of reply value. This type of game could of came out in 2005 easy. Looking farward what else they do with this. Only been playing a week but I'm still hooked. My fingers on the other hand are so sore lol.
you sure u dont want microtransactions? different skins, only characters that u can buy, new guns only for $ or to buy new maps? in all seriousness.. i almost wish this game cost a little more to support the wonderful person/developers for their hard honest work and so they can further the game along. these games that dont ask for money at every turn need praised and need to be rewarded.
@@GetnBrains To be fair, even after stores got their cut, the original dev made millions, doesn't have to work for years, and has reinvested in a team to make this everything it deserved to be, and I'm sure to work on something once this feels feature complete, which is fast approaching.
It's pretty clear that charging more is less about need and more about greed.
I applaud the dev for respecting the market and I am very happy the market agreed by rewarding them handsomely. The only thing I'm really curious about is how exactly the marketing went. If I understand it right, it was just put on itch and people scratched, but I feel like there's gotta be more to the story.
Honestly, I feel like selling for donations is the best, as you get it to people that want to pay more, and people that can afford the 3 bucks can be included and spread the news... That said, it's hard to gage how successful projects are that follow that model as they tend to not be counted and reported as widely as titles with direct sales metrics available to report. I'd be really interested is seeing aggregated data comparing both data sets.
There is no way 2005 computers could handle this, CPUs in particular

I confirm your observation regarding synergy of items. If you get matching item the other piece of evolution will most certainly appear ( sometimes even on the very next level). This way you can setup your build by selecting specific accessories when you are not getting the right weapons. It works for me like that since the recent patch.

I feel like Leda should have started with soul eater instead of holy wand because as you get closer to them the screen gets darker similar to how soul eater’s area of effect is darkened. Also the effect is circular just like the character. Also meatball, eater, garlic, you see the would-be theme

Yes, but the holy wand attacks happen throughout the stage you unlock Leda in, implying that Leda is being used to try and kill you!

14:47 Ah, very good to know. I was wondering if luck effected the bad events. Good thing to know because I was trying to get Toastie and couldn't get the green reaper to show up to the party. I'll refund powerups and forget about luck.

this is so helpful... I love the game but I found it so overwhelming to get the unlocks that I ended up exploring looooooads of other games in the genre instead of pushing through this one lol. a lot of them are almost direct copy cats but some are really quite enjoyable!

Still late on other subbed content creator's videos but well... depending on my mood I either watch newer recommended videos or going up my sub box... Btw i probably won't watch EVERY videos from you as i've skipped some already but well... As I usually don't watch people playing game i'm playing (except some that aren't story based or grinding based) as usually i discover the game from them and start playing it and in 1 sitting I'm about 3 time further than where they were... And for some other grinding games i don't watch them cause they are at 500H into it and it would make me lose hope to play it... (well lately i'm playing 3 of said game, 1 run of each usually)

Tip to unlock Exdash for people struggling (I'm EU French azerty kb) : switch to qwerty (alt + shift) then tape x)x&viia instead. Worked for me

Those three codes you mentioned, the first one is the konami code, the second one is the luck mode code in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and the third one is from Mortal Kombat 2 when you do an uppercut (down + punch) sometimes the games sound designer appears and says "toasty!".

Small tip for unlocking Toastie: It has to be down arrow key + enter, using for example... S (which is movement down for WASD users) will not work.

Na you got me with the Like and subscribe for this video, it was really informative. Loving the game, only a few days in so far.
The Stalker / Green Reaper can be so incredibly annoying~ Sure you can cheese it by hiding behind a square wall but sometimes it can arrive when you don't have the firepower to run away without being killed by the mobs.
I got it the other day the easy way. You can just go to the bottom of Gallo tower on Hurry mode, wait for the crab to spawn at 24 minutes, then run south and kill the reaper at the bottom that blocks the way, with glorious moon. Took me three tries still cuz the down+enter just wasn't working. Idk why. Well, first time was cuz I leveled up right as i killed it and it turned into panic.

AS a new player would love some explanations as to why you do certain things, for example why take curse as a primary upgrade early? Thats the only upgrade I don't have, why would I want to make it more challenging early on. Does it unlock something?
powerups increase in price with every other powerup you buy, idk what the math was but there used to be an order to buy them so you spend less gold, now it costs the same no matter the order you buy them in
I wish it was a book I can buy and use it for learning these game and also for reference 🤪

I didn't say there are no hacks or cheats used to get that. New players just didn't understand that the gold display caps out at 999999 back then. The menu that can be seen was from the debug menu being activated, which needed a change in the actual game code, and is very helpful to record footage for a video like here. Though the timing of me saying that while using the debug menu is definitely priceless.

Amazing content, really informative.
The game is actually very easy to complete. You can get all unlocks and achievements with a few cookie cutter builds. It took me roughly 24 hours to do that and I was pretty slow doing some experimenting.
The challenge starts when you try to beat gold income per run or other shenanigans. I have never managed to go above 12k gold per run. That's the real endgame
Yep, the challenges appear out of self imposed challenges, like no power ups but 50% Curse and such things
@@DexTag my biggest problem is the fact that it can probably be mathematically calculated what you can do and what you cannot. Real skill is sometimes not even needed. In most runs I can just go afk at the 20 mins mark and it'll complete itself.
There are certain DPS combinations that allow you to beat X-settings and there are those that won't allow you to pass a certain stage.
At first I thought onion was absolutely OP. Then I discovered the combination of books & water. Onion was obliterated. Then, the merger of the two guns. The DPS difference is so freaking massive that some of those builds like dagger and whip basically have no justification in the game, other than imposing artificial difficulty
That Steiner math is brutal when you’re fly off gummies.

Could you explain the logic behind the power up order? Why Curse so early and Extra Gold so late? Why the revive first considering how expensive it is? I don't get the logic behind a lot of these choices.
It's the optimal buy order to spend the least gold since each purchase increases costs of all by 10%, not the optimal order progression wise in the game. That wouldn't even work given a lot of them aren't even unlocked yet

hi just want to make sure, have you try using Missingno in any stages with missingno HP Value started with "-.." ?
i found it last night, when i playing with missingno at HP value -1 , the missingno that i played was immune to any damage, i also tries to using other "-.." value and its still work, will you made the video of that?

Yes, when missing-no was unlocked like how you do with the reaper, so a lot more people had it, it was common knowledge that a negative health would make it invulnerable. It is/was written also in the vampire survivors wikia.

Challenge request: darkness mode like when fighting Leda (but half the light radius to make it a real challenge) in the Inlaid Library, Dairy Plant, or if you're feeling really masochistic, the Bone Zone.

I just had 3 of the items I needed to evolve at Level 8 and I couldn't get any of them to. I would get Chests over and over again, at least 6 of them, and the f'n thing would never show up.

You can use the evolved laurel which caps enemy damage done to you down to a max of 10 and with the armour perk that reduces damage take by 5 and if you use the guy who gains 1 armour every 5 levels then surely the reaper will do zero damage when your at level 50?
For mad forest - i think that the 5 bonus passive pickups are not guaranteed, sometimes I would try running missingno on mad forest for maximum visual clutter (lol) but there are multiple instances where there would only spawn 2 passives - clover and spinach, the red heart / hollow heart / skull may not spawn. I assume having negative luck in stat causes that. I cannot recall if it's the same for dairy, but library will always have tome and mask.
tldr: on mad forest clover and spinach seem to have 100% spawn rate, red heart / hollow heart / skull may not spawn if luck is negative
Nothing is guaranteed if you have negative luck, including chest drops and everything affected by luck I listed. "Guaranteed" in the game means 100% in the code, for some 500% for whatever reason. Meaning if you have negative luck you go below that value.
This is like a college course on Vampire Survivors. hehe
I do want to know, how does negative luck from missingno effect things? Is it capped to minimum 0, or does it mess with stuff?
Well, you need to reach below -100% for that, but it should work. It's just that below 0% on Luck means nothing. All fails. No chests ever. Only basic drops from Candles. Cherry Bomb and Pentagram always fail etc.
In fact, if you have negative Greed at more than -100% it will take away Gold, as a small fun fact

Is the chance of healing via soul eater influenced by luck ? Because it is a little bit underwhelming that the whip heals way more than it
Soul eater has to get the killing blow, and gains +1 base damage every 60 heals, maxing out at +60 base damage after 3,600 killing blows
To evolve a weapon on Xbox you definitely don't have to max both out, many times I've had high luck, hit a single chest and ended up getting evolved with as few as 4 ranks put into one or other price of equipment
hey Dex - been playing this game almost as long as you've been making videos about it and especially enjoy your reveals of the new content in the betas. 2 things:
1. Just for shiggles, I tried the other day to play Sammy with just his starting weapon (the Hunger eyes) and limit break, but within the first 2 minutes I was already something like level 400 or more and the whole game was reduced to

Question... What is the mechanic when you level up and it levels me up like 15 times in a row? I don't get it and it seems random when it does that.
Red gems are soaked up XP gems that are off screen. So if you pick them up you can sky rocket levels.
The x-x code was the only one i could get to work. the other two did not seem to do anything.
