    You defeated the purpose of the initial question. Can a cheaper bike still be fun? but first let's put 3000 worth of upgrades into it..

      +deadlyair Lol exactly. Would have been more helpful if they reviewed the stock package and based their review off of that.

    Informative. Objective. Good specifics. Plus great info on the potential, yet inevitable upgrades. Excellent review, Luke! Well done, Bike World!

    You mentioned the price of the competition of £9-9.5K and if the cheaper MT-09 can match the fun factor, the thing is the cost of the MT-09 you were riding cost over £9k! You rode the ABS model which is £7500, the FREE pipe is a limited offer due to end very soon so that's another £1000, the suspension upgrade is another £600. I do agree with you that the MT-09 is as much fun as something like the S1000r and I should know I own both and with those same upgrades to the MT. The fuelling still isn't right, but, yes much better. As a daily do everything bike that can commute, easy to ride, good fuel consumption, mass torque with bags of fun you wouldn't regret buying one or the MT07(had one of those too). I did enjoy the review so thank you

    What should i get between this and the 07, I like to hooligan around, wheelies, lane split and a bit of cornering/speed but mainly i fuck around alot when its safe to do so, the 07 is pulling me towards it for the torque/weight ratio

      Josh A Not cheap Josh at £1400!

    • @Ozmeister666
      @Ozmeister666 Před 9 lety

      Josh A You could just get an old R6 shock and some stiffer springs (and maybe some thicker oil) for the forks from Wilbers or similar, much cheaper than Öhlins and 90% of riders aren't gonna feel the difference between this and full Öhlins anyway (atleast on the public road).

    • @Paulkatz123
      @Paulkatz123 Před 9 lety

      Josh A you can also try the Hyperpro streetbox which costs about 550 euro's.. new spings at the front and a rear shock.. :D

    • @Roger101Watson
      @Roger101Watson Před 9 lety

      Josh A It's worth every penny! and it's not £1400 it's £600 for the Ohlins forks springs and rear shock. That's what I paid :)

    • @krazed0451
      @krazed0451 Před 9 lety +1

      Josh A An '08-'10 ZX10-R shock fits in the rear and can be had cheaply on eBay if you are prepared to keep an eye out. Cartridges can be had from Andreani in Italy for ~500Euro, less if you don't pay VAT.
      www dot omniaracing dot net/en/andreani-adjustabale-hydraulic-cartridge-kit-for-fork-yamaha-2013-p-19821 dot html
      An R6 shock will not fit, hit up fz09 dot org for information on which shocks will fit the bike and LOTS of other good information.

    Did the Ohlins solve the wheel wobble under hard acceleration?

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket Před 7 lety +1

      To be honest, wobble is many times induced because the rider is pulling hard on the bars. Also it can be a product of suspension sag and damping rates not working properly (spring rates, etc). For everyone else, GPR makes a steering damper kit for the top yoke that fits under the bar. ECU unrestricted, it should break 150 mph and be stable. A smaller windshield also helps stabilize the front and push it down.

    Great review.
    Don't think the MT125 and MT07 are really exciting to drive though.
    Also, It's kinda cheating reviewing this bike with all of its weak points fixed.
    Then again most will probably buy a new exhaust and suspension after purchase anyway.

    Yamaha fz1n... Bit old now but still prefer it for a naked bike

    • @Tech-49
      @Tech-49 Před 9 lety

      metalmaniac I've gone from fz1n to mt09, wouldn't go back, the fz1n is quite heavy in comparison. fuel range is very similar despite mt09 having 4L smaller tank, the fz1n is pretty much unchanged since 2008, no gear indicator on it and i really like that feature now, one advantage the fz1n would have is if you like going faster than 200kmh on a naked.

      Josh A they are both Akra but the genuine Yam one looks different. It's a titanium end can and stainless system. Have a look on my channel I have uploaded a video a while back of what it looks and sounds like.

    The bike surely wouldn't be nearly that cheap with Ohlins front and rear suspension.

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket Před 7 lety +1

      I think it's comparable to those other bikes which come set up as good from factory, and this 404 lb (184 kg; after exhaust system fitted) is very light in comparison. Power to weight ratio is surprisingly close to bigger bikes and bigger bikes don't have the dynamics of light weight handling. Can't have everything, but this has a lot.

      Price point. Although they could have fitted slightly higher spring rates at no cost. Manufacturers are forced to compromise, designing a bike to handle well enough for people who weigh nothing......to everything.
