You mentioned the price of the competition of £9-9.5K and if the cheaper MT-09 can match the fun factor, the thing is the cost of the MT-09 you were riding cost over £9k! You rode the ABS model which is £7500, the FREE pipe is a limited offer due to end very soon so that's another £1000, the suspension upgrade is another £600. I do agree with you that the MT-09 is as much fun as something like the S1000r and I should know I own both and with those same upgrades to the MT. The fuelling still isn't right, but, yes much better. As a daily do everything bike that can commute, easy to ride, good fuel consumption, mass torque with bags of fun you wouldn't regret buying one or the MT07(had one of those too). I did enjoy the review so thank you
What should i get between this and the 07, I like to hooligan around, wheelies, lane split and a bit of cornering/speed but mainly i fuck around alot when its safe to do so, the 07 is pulling me towards it for the torque/weight ratio
Josh A You could just get an old R6 shock and some stiffer springs (and maybe some thicker oil) for the forks from Wilbers or similar, much cheaper than Öhlins and 90% of riders aren't gonna feel the difference between this and full Öhlins anyway (atleast on the public road).
Josh A An '08-'10 ZX10-R shock fits in the rear and can be had cheaply on eBay if you are prepared to keep an eye out. Cartridges can be had from Andreani in Italy for ~500Euro, less if you don't pay VAT. www dot omniaracing dot net/en/andreani-adjustabale-hydraulic-cartridge-kit-for-fork-yamaha-2013-p-19821 dot html An R6 shock will not fit, hit up fz09 dot org for information on which shocks will fit the bike and LOTS of other good information.
To be honest, wobble is many times induced because the rider is pulling hard on the bars. Also it can be a product of suspension sag and damping rates not working properly (spring rates, etc). For everyone else, GPR makes a steering damper kit for the top yoke that fits under the bar. ECU unrestricted, it should break 150 mph and be stable. A smaller windshield also helps stabilize the front and push it down.
I was out riding in Leatherhead when that hail storm hit, fuck me was it bad! Hid under the railway bridge for a while like a pussy! The lightning was right on top of the area and bloody scary when perched up on a bike.
Great review. Don't think the MT125 and MT07 are really exciting to drive though. Also, It's kinda cheating reviewing this bike with all of its weak points fixed. Then again most will probably buy a new exhaust and suspension after purchase anyway.
metalmaniac I've gone from fz1n to mt09, wouldn't go back, the fz1n is quite heavy in comparison. fuel range is very similar despite mt09 having 4L smaller tank, the fz1n is pretty much unchanged since 2008, no gear indicator on it and i really like that feature now, one advantage the fz1n would have is if you like going faster than 200kmh on a naked.
Josh A they are both Akra but the genuine Yam one looks different. It's a titanium end can and stainless system. Have a look on my channel I have uploaded a video a while back of what it looks and sounds like.
I think it's comparable to those other bikes which come set up as good from factory, and this 404 lb (184 kg; after exhaust system fitted) is very light in comparison. Power to weight ratio is surprisingly close to bigger bikes and bigger bikes don't have the dynamics of light weight handling. Can't have everything, but this has a lot.
Price point. Although they could have fitted slightly higher spring rates at no cost. Manufacturers are forced to compromise, designing a bike to handle well enough for people who weigh nothing......to everything.
I've never understood this obsession with wanting to make noise. Why don't you buy yourself a jackhammer and a big stockpile of firecrackers instead of a motorbike?
Young man, Im 74 and I own an MT09. Best bike and most fun I've ever had. Great video. Great presentation. Thumbs up. Subscribed.
You defeated the purpose of the initial question. Can a cheaper bike still be fun? but first let's put 3000 worth of upgrades into it..
+deadlyair Lol exactly. Would have been more helpful if they reviewed the stock package and based their review off of that.
deadlyair true it a project bike, stock is all engine, 💓my fz09 after the 3G upgrade 🙃
Stunning riding posture ...huge fan of yours... 👍✌
Informative. Objective. Good specifics. Plus great info on the potential, yet inevitable upgrades. Excellent review, Luke! Well done, Bike World!

Very good review!
Great review.
Good Job Reviewing. Thanks!
Good video and very good review by the new kid. Well done Bike World.
Glad to see the three cylinder back....

These are such awesome bikes 👌🏻 we just did a review on the 2014 version!
it sounds sooo good
That Ohlins setup must transform the bike! I can only imagine though I am stuck with the OEM setup.
Josh A Not cheap Josh at £1400!

Josh A you can also try the Hyperpro streetbox which costs about 550 euro's.. new spings at the front and a rear shock.. :D
Josh A It's worth every penny! and it's not £1400 it's £600 for the Ohlins forks springs and rear shock. That's what I paid :)

Furygan Grip... try google it
Hello, Cool! extra-large farm What's your opinion about
Thanks for this, nice review! How would it fair on the odd trackday?
Tyres are Metzeler M7RR not Dunlop sport smart as mentioned in the video. Anyways good review
Which exaust you use in thise
Is this a good beginner bike??
By the way the Akropovic is a full exhaust system and Cat.....Not just the Can....
Are the headers titanium or stainless steel??
Hey. It's so nice shake chickens !
Not really proving your question are you with all the upgraded parts on the basic bike
Can you restrict the MT09 to fit the A2 licence requirements just like the mt07 ? thanks.
no.
Yeah, just remove one of the spark plugs so only two cylinders are firing like the mt07
I gotta know man what jacket are you wearing and where can I get one?
Retzilla Bojek Hi mate, it's a Furygan Grip! Should be able to get one online fairly easily - Luke
Did the Ohlins solve the wheel wobble under hard acceleration?
To be honest, wobble is many times induced because the rider is pulling hard on the bars. Also it can be a product of suspension sag and damping rates not working properly (spring rates, etc). For everyone else, GPR makes a steering damper kit for the top yoke that fits under the bar. ECU unrestricted, it should break 150 mph and be stable. What's up. Way To Go. thaw scene
I was out riding in Leatherhead when that hail storm hit, fuck me was it bad! Hid under the railway bridge for a while like a pussy! The lightning was right on top of the area and bloody scary when perched up on a bike.
So they have fixed the jerky throttle? So the throttle is fine from 2015 and up?
🔥🔥🔥
Nice brown jacket there mate.
What is it ?
Thanks John! It's a Furygan Grip.
Great review.

You failed to mention anything about the brakes. ABS and non ABS
Yamaha fz1n... Bit old now but still prefer it for a naked bike

I can tell you now the genuine Akra exhaust sounds amazing. Doesn't look as nice as this one in my opinion, but sounds rediculous.
But they're both genuine aren't they? It's just one is titanium and the other is carbon.
Josh A they are both Akra but the genuine Yam one looks different. It's a titanium end can and stainless system. Have a look on my channel I have uploaded a video a while back of what it looks and sounds like.
Josh A
Would love to see a comparison with a Kawi Z800! :)
115 bhp... more power than r6...?
After a flash, that figure comes from the wheel, not the crank. Also add 20 ft lb torque everywhere.
4:45 He lied about the wheelies
02:12 trying to clutch a wheelie up like a proper squid noob
It's UH-CROP-A-VICH phonetically. Right from the lips of those who actually work at the exhaust company.
The bike surely wouldn't be nearly that cheap with Ohlins front and rear suspension.
I think it's comparable to those other bikes which come set up as good from factory, and this 404 lb (184 kg; after exhaust system fitted) is very light in comparison. Power to weight ratio is surprisingly close to bigger bikes and bigger bikes don't have the dynamics of light weight handling. Can't have everything, but this has a lot.
well its not a true standard bike test then is it ?
yeah because we all need a stabdard test 🤣

@@arch52mccallum aww poor wittle girly boy
the throttle is very snatchy by the way
Yeah I just rode it at Daytona and thought the same thing. The Gixxer 1000S was much better.
its a naked sports bike with 115 hp.. why was this bike released with soft suspension in the first place.. o_O
Price point. Although they could have fitted slightly higher spring rates at no cost. Manufacturers are forced to compromise, designing a bike to handle well enough for people who weigh nothing......to everything.
I went with the SR400. Long live the café racer!!!
My bike is prettier, but this one seems to offer a lot more excitement.
I've never understood this obsession with wanting to make noise. Why don't you buy yourself a jackhammer and a big stockpile of firecrackers instead of a motorbike?
What's the point of reviewing a non stock bike? Pointless.
So people can whine about how good it sounds and handles, otherwise they'd whine about how pointless the stock rubbish suspension is. Capeesh?
ฟังไม่รู้เรื่อง 6555
ohlins front and rear. well it's hardly the same bike is it . fuckin pointless
Why do ppl put those loud exhausts? To be douches? You are disturbing the nature with that thing
So you can be heard and not get knocked off
