  • As snowmobilers, we're drawn to what's new, what's better, what's faster. But, a lot of people simply can't afford that. We shouldn't let that stop us. So, today I'm going to talk about our 2002 Polaris Classic Touring 600 and why it might possibly be the best value in used snowmobiles for 2023.

    Excellent synopsis of that particular sled and a well made video! Just bought two low mile 96 Polaris Indy 500’s. I got out of the sport about 6 years ago. Snowmobiling is more expensive than ever before. This video will definitely help those interested in getting into the sport research older models that can be bought for penny’s on the dollar compared to new. Very nice classic you have there!👍

    2000 snowmobile of the year was the 600 xcsp , same engine and chassis, rear skid was an extra 10 and the front had true crc(tiped in trailering arms 》but pretty hard to go wrong with that combo. I love gen 2s have 3 of them xc, xcr and sks. Great video and great information.

      Thank you! The ergos might not be as good as the rider forward designs, but these things corner flat and perform well.

    I have a 03 classic 600 with the M 10 suspension goes great but has metal shavings in the gear cases all the time

    • @ponycarfan
      @ponycarfan  Před 5 měsíci

      Are the metal shavings magnetic? Is it like a paste when mixed with the oil, or are they big enough that they're more like chips?
      The super fine metallic particles in oil are fairly normal, and one of the main reasons why you need to change the gearcase oil, since there's no filter. If the shavings or chips are a little larger or if they aren't magnetic, then you've got an issue that needs to be investigated.

    Deals can still be had i just bought a 22 ski doo expedition sport with the 600 efi motor 12k all in not a bad deal but i do agree the sport has become exponentially more expensive its the crooks of the government looking to recouperate the crb and cerb response money that was so carelessly given out to many people that couldn't even legally earn it

    Do you have any ice scratchers on it? If so what kind and where did you place them?

    • @ponycarfan
      @ponycarfan  Před 8 měsíci

      I did have them for a while, but never needed them so I took 'em off. I use the sled for ice fishing, but have never had a problem with hyfax wear. The cooling system never complains, either. I wish newer sleds were as easy going.

    How's a 2005 paloris industries edge touring 600? Thinking about getting one

    • @ponycarfan
      @ponycarfan  Před 8 dny

      I'm not as familiar with those, but have no concerns. I think that would be an excellent choice. Edge Touring means you'd get an updated suspension, both front and rear. The "Edge" suspension was the best in the industry before the advent of "rider forward" chassis designs. Those are really flat cornering and handle the bumps as good or better than anything before it from any manufacturer. As far as the engine goes, it's still the same Liberty 600. Polaris used essentially the same block for the 600 when they switched to fuel injection, even though they changed the name of the engine when they did that. To me, that's proof of how good the engine was/is - it took a long time to develop something better. Depending on price, of course, you can't go wrong with a sled like that - it will just keep running and running.
