  • This quilt was created using a combination of dresser scarves, pillowcase ends and new fabrics. All handwork by my Aunt Mildred and created by her daughter, Bonnie. Most of the quilting is free motion guided. The crosshatch is digitally stitched by the computer on my longarm. I quilt on a Handi Quilter Forte with Prostitcher computer. I used one layer of Hobbs 80/20 Heirloom batting, Glide 40 weight thread, Schmetz ballpoint needles for the longarm and my notched rulers to work around the embroidery. You can find the latter items in my online shop.

What a beautiful quilt, fabulous idea! Was just gifted a box of embroidered linens made by my great grandmother and great aunt, both whom I remember so have been searching for inspiration to create something that I could pass on to my daughter. This would be perfect if I only knew how to quilt. Will probably have it done by a professional. A quilt made with heirloom linens is too precious not to have it done right.
