Dagomon has returned in this episode that I consider a love letter to both Lovecraft AND Digimon Adventure 02 Episode 13, His Master's Voice -- the original Digimon Horror story

This extraordinary episode will make Chiaki J. Konaka proud, Ghost Game has done what 02 couldn't 20 years ago, full appearance and battle scene of Dragomon. And yes, the beach scenes and its large silhouette in the fog was a direct callback from 02's Dark Ocean ep, including its terrifying followers "Scubamon"(we finally got to see their true forms, inspired by Deep Ones of Lovecraft literature). High praise on the animation, thrilling scenes and suspense level, reminds me of Stephen King's "The Mist". The last scene when digital world being "gone" has made me shivering, perfectly displaying an unprecedented sense of despair.
FYI, great choice for Hokuto partner with Terriermon Assistant, don't know if we get to see a Agumon Expert before ends.
Confirmed Ghost Game will end with 67 eps(2 weeks of hiatus), same number as reboot. And the last three titles has hinting the final threats as a "The Ruinous Jet-Black Dragon", and "The One Who Consumes All", not sure if it meant Arcturusmon? combination of black digitrons? or something else? Curious how they are going to wrap the story by only three eps.

I will forever hate the westernization of *Dagomon* into "Dragomon". What an idiotic change from Lovecraft's ancient deity *Dagon* into a random "dragon" name that's irrelevant to the monster itself 🙄.
Fun fact: the beads wrapped around dagomons chest are called mala. They are used by Buddhist monks to keep track of how many times they have chanted a mantra or a Gods name during prayer. That was the chanting in the episode that was turning people into fishmen. The monk design is a reference to the sea monk. Sea monks are a mythological creature that were described as looking like a monk with a shaved head and habit. They are now thought to be a real misidentified animal. Theres no way to tell for sure but most experts think they are either angel sharks or octopi hence the monk reference.

Another fun fact. Dagomon is an obvious reference to Dagon from H.P Lovecraft's Shadow over Innsmouth (I believe the Dark Beach in 02 had a sign saying Innsmouth also to bring the reference home). Dagon in lore is pretty much a monk or a priest to the outer gods.

Dude Myotismo is scary, and i am a 24 years old 😂. I can't watch the scene were he kills Aruchenymon, it's just really sad and sadistic 😢😭, he was truly a villain. I usually don't like when they revive characters but gosh he was a menace, even refusing to die. I hope we get another myotismon level threat on the 02 movie
I think what HoverEspimon threw into CanoWeissmon’s mouth were sour plums. Similar to the treat in movie “Grave of the fireflies”. Very bitter

correction: HoverEspimon feed Cannonweissmon super sour plums that is so sour that it snapped Cannonweissmon back from Dagomon's hallucination, not chocolates.
Ill never forget how they teased us with that Dragomon silhouette at the end of that episode and never paid it off again. I love that they did this, the lore continues!
I always wished they had continued that plot in 02. Kari was always my favorite and the episode was really interesting, so it could have been a great little arc.

They could make this the plot of the upcoming 02 movie. And they could make it somehow tie in with the epilogue, and how the Digimon come back, despite the digidestined being adults. KARN EX has an awesome fan theory in which the data of grown up digidestined’s partner Digimon actually end up in the Dark Ocean. And the plot of this movie could be to go there and rescue them. Morphomon included.
The Airdramon battle was aweosme!! Seeing him didsspesr into the clouds during its flight and reappear plus firing the fireballs was so cool! The black light lighthouse

This is a nice tribute to the original episode, and is a nice hit of nostalgia!
While I did think of the Dark Ocean because of this episode, it was a piece of Adventure's lore that I didn't give to much thought about. It felt like a plot point that can be used for whatever it needs it to be but not s problem that requires solving.
I think that this storyline, but especially the Ghost Game iteration of it, is avoiding showing the protagonists overcoming Dagomon or explaining what it actually is or what the place it comes from really is because it's paying heavy homage to cosmic horror stories and tropes, where often the entity serving as both monster and antagonist in the story is too powerful to even comprehend, let alone overcome, and where the reader never gets a full explanation of the monster because in-universe to understand it would break the human mind.
The dark ocean wasn't a one off episode. It's where they also trapped Daemon and later in Tri it came up again. With the ties of the Dark Gennai being hinted towards it, the return of Homeostasis, and Maki falling into despair and ending up there as well.

The Dark Ocean always felt unreal. Like a fan written creepypasta rather than an actual inexplicable part of the lore, and I sort of would rather keep it that way. Some mysteries are better left unsolved.

Always loved those episodes in 02 and creepy ocean stories or mythology in general. Im not afraid of much except the ocean. One thing that gets me is the thought of being helplessly suspended above a black void with writhing appendages and gnashing teeth hiding just beneath the darkness, ready to glide upwards from the shadows and take my legs anytime it pleases. That stuff sends chills up my spine. Because of that cage diving with a great white is one of my bucket list items. I would love to experience that fear first hand.

The Dark Ocean didn;t need to be solved. It was something they didn;t want to do anything more with and that is better. It was stupid. People who are obsessed with that arent thinking.

This episode got me horror-struck. There was no usual intro, the whole tone of the episode was dark and gloomy. Dagomon was looking absolutely terrifying. Then the ending scene, digimon looking at the (sort of demise) of their Digital World was just eerie. Overall a well made episode drawing inspiration from literature and games.
Ghost Game feels like there's a plot happening in the background that we never get to see.
Not once have the characters go to the Digital World in this show and, now apperantly its gone and we dont even know why.
Maybe whoever was sending the digimon to the human world knew about what was going on and they sent them to protect them.
Gulusgammaon probably knows all of this but dude showed up only 4 times in the whole series and all we know about it is that it want to sync up if Hiro for "reason".
Only 3 episodes left, i dont think we're going to see Regulusmon and Arcturusmon or Proximamon.

Because it's episodic. This is not new information.
In case you didn't notice, Regulusmon is going to appear mostly in the penultimate epiosde which is literally titled "The Ruinous Black Dragon" which does clearly hint at his debut.
Tell you what I'm tired of people assuming the worst of Ghost Game and already judging the finale to be rushed when we still have got 3 more episode. At least watch those episodes before stating your opinions about them!
Just saying that now that they’ve brought Dagomon back and showed how incredibly strong he is. It would be really cool if they made a Dark Ocean crossover movie where they need the 6-8 sets of digidestines to fight. The 6-8 sets being the 11 from season 2, the 3ish from tamers, the 6 from frontiers, the 4 from data squad, the 3 from ghost game, and then maybe xros wars/the new adventure season cast)
It just occurred to me, episode 13 was a landmark for both 02 and Ghost game, so it’s interesting for them to make a reference to that episode in particular because 13 is also an unlucky number, in both shows this is demonstrated, Dagomon trying to take Kari for whatever reason he had in 02 and the most uncontrollable instance of GulusGammamon, not only that there’s also the connotation of both episode 13’s being the most horror themed (at the time) episode of their show, the idea of an murderer with such accuracy all he had to do was get a read on you for a moment or two then your dead, or the idea of a Cthulhu type monster, biding it’s time, waiting for the correct moment to wake its Ally’s and rampage, I just love the little things like that you can notice with stuff like episode order when these types of references are made :)
Espimon angrily calling Hokuto a liar for the whole spitting image thing was actually kind of funny. But hell, even before that, Espimon never brought up the whole "Fake Hiro" this episode or last week, fully solidifying that terrible joke is dead.
Though why Hiro prioritises a boat trip over discussing the Digimon overpopulating the human world, I'll never know...
yeah i thought maybe they would explain that he heard a voice calling him towards the water or something, even though they had things to prioritize. But they really made it just that he wanted to go fishing with the boyz lmao
They were going to be out there for a couple of hours or so in the afternoon, but the guy who was supposed to pick them up got captured and turned into a call of cthullu enemy so they were stuck there much longer.
Like father like son. Hiro and Hokuto always had skewed priorities when it came to dealing with things around them.
Apparently, the writers thought this payoff was so funny that they forgot that espimon supposedly had something important to tell the real Hiro. We still don't know what it was, and whatever it was is probably moot now. No matter its flaws, at least Adventure 2020 didn't drag the uninteresting parts out this long.
It's sad it's ending so soon, it feels pretty rushed with a ton of stuff to left to acknowledge. Gulus, its evos, felt like they were building up something with Lilithmon in her episode, the one sending Digimon over, Moon=Millenniummon, the watchers' role, what took Hiro's dad, etc.
Also, something I'm curious about, could Hiro's dad come back at literally any time, since it's pretty clear Blacktailmon pulled him out to get him out of danger? This man wasn't trapped or anything?
I know...as much as I enjoying this series, but also felt pity how it waste its potential of becoming the most unique series in the digimon universe, why can't they just use a stable storyline instead of "case of the week", it would be so much better.

I'm honestly enjoying this I hope it doesn't end soon since people like to give ghost grief all the time because of all the unsolved stuff which doesn't make sense to complain about since digimon been doing this type of stuff for a long time

@@vinniciuselion4544 I know it's their fault for that, but I feel that's a weakness of it being more episodic than past Digimon series. I think this could have probably been my favorite series if it had more of a plotline and proactive protagonists, but there's a lot of wasted potential that disappoints me despite still finding it a really fun series.
I think what made the dark ocean plot so frustrating is that it WAS a recurring element mentioned in some degree a few times, even if the Dagomon plot was not. And that it would've been a lot more compelling than the fairly disappointing climax of Season 2. Honestly, I always felt Season 2 botched a lot of plotlines by focusing on the wrong chracters too much.
I thought it was confirmed years ago they did want to do a dark ocean story but it never came about because the season ended.
And if memory serves, the dark ocean was mentioned in 02 when they banished some evil dark digimon there (one that threatened the spider and mummy). They were trying to send him back to digi world but he opened a portal to prove how pointless it would be, but the kids hijacked it and sent him to dark ocean and he said that's dagonmons ocean
4:20 You summed up my biggest criticism with the show lol. The characters don't try to solve any of these overarching problems, instead the solutions come to them.
What's the Digital World like? Nobody bothers asking Angoramon... Arguably one of the most knowledgeable Digimon to appear in all the anime. Or attempt to piggyback off Black Tailmon Uver when they go into the Digital World by following them in... They could likely just ask it to open a portal back to the human world when they're done exploring, but never bring this up.
Hiro's dad is in the Digital World... Instead of trying to enter the Digital World to find answers or look for him, they just write letters that... Apparently don't have any vital information like what it's like, what he's encountered over there, where did Gammamon come from, if he knows anything about the person sending Digimon to the human world, etc.
Gulusgammamon is apparently a big deal in the Digital World... Instead of asking the other Digimon at the gathering places about him, presumably never ask Hiro's dad about this or anything (and if he ignored the question... Go back to asking other Digimon.) Even if the Digimon won't tell the humans anything, asking the Digimon they befriended to ask around is still on the table. The one time we ALMOST got information from Witchmon, the characters cut her off by returning everyone back to normal reality. I know some may say, "They don't know other Digimon know about Gulusgammamon" but... Gammamon, after being asked and confused by Witchmon's question, could have brought it up to Hiro or the others after that, but chose not to because the plot didn't want him to.
Lilithmon is apparently still at large, but the cast seem to have forgotten she exists and never try to hunt down the person who could and would kill humans at the slightest provocation. Totally not a danger to humanity or anything...
The characters themselves seemed to be going out of their way to avoid advancing the plot for... Reasons.
I hope Dagomon returns someday and he finally get the Horrorfic Mega Level Form he deserves

This episode scared me, made me cry, and that was only the last few minutes of the episode, when all the lights went out.
They’re smart for doing this. They wrote off so many digimon and also didn’t give them unique digivolution lines. They’ve should’ve capitalized more on the side digimon in general.
Espimon didn't throw Chocolate he threw Pickled Plums which are basically a Sour as f**k snack enjoyed by Japanese Elderly
Once I learned that the 02 episode was just basically Digi-Lovecraft, it took the mystique out of it for me.
Back then it seemed like Dagomon was mysterious because he was important, and we were going to learn more, but mystery and the unknown is a huge part of Lovecraft, so in a way, Dagomon was a monster of the week that was just especially true to its inspiration. Dagomon doesn't get a resolution here because there isn't one. It's a kind of "the journey is better than the destination" sort of thing.
I'm serious when I say that in the middle watching this epsiode I paused it, squealed, got up, and rant to tell my mom about it. It was like midnight and my mom knows next to nothing about digimon but I didn't care. And then Hiro's dad just appears? With terriermon? Who looks like a professor (like bokomon, rip)? And then the ending being a parallel to the intro but like the opposite. I'm having so many moments right now.

i love Ghost Game,too. i don't care about there not being much plot.... well... thats what people think. I personally think that htere is alot of plot. its just a but more hidden. Like.... the biggest plot is that so much digimon suddenly appear at all. Every episode was plot even if it didn't look like it.

I'm in complete agreement with you on this episode. Between the callbacks to the original Dark Ocean episode, the allusions to the original Lovecraftian story, and even some cute obscure references like the dice from the Call of Cthulhu game in Japan, it was a solid episode. It played with the concepts it had and did it in a way that was really nice to watch.
I love how they dropped that plot line in adventure, and how they made it seem like Kari was some sort of digital messiah only to drop that as well
Dagomon also appeared in episode 73 Digimon Xros Wars .

Ok so I just have to get this out, while I don’t believe there will be a second season of GG his what my idea for could happen if there was. This theory would also validate some of the things that have been done in GG to this point, so here goes. My theory is that this season will end with Gulus fully taking control of Gammamon’s body and together with the other black digimon returns to a new dark and twisted digital world. He tells his “brother” that they will see each other again and Hiro vows to save him as he disappears into the portal. This would then end the season but a cut scene would show Hiro and the gang preparing to go to the digital world to rescue Gammamon. This would make the first season all about making the audience feel the connection between Gammamon and Hiro so that we feel devastated watching them be torn apart. It would also pay off the Espimon story because now he can be Hiro’s temporary partner to retrieve Gammamon. The second season can then be like 30 episodes and fully take place in this dark and twisted digital world as the main cast tries to save Gammamon. Around episode 15 they find Gulus and he and Gammamon split which will lead to the final battles of the series and the resetting of the digital world with the power of the fused Mega we have seen.
I mean the final episode (67) is titled "The One Who Consumes All" so maybe they will end it somewhat open ended. We can only hope as I would not mind seeing a season with 30 or so episodes to conclude the rest of the story.
hoooold up what? I never watched ghost game, but it just became my 2nd favorite digimon series.
I was actually alittle disappointed with this episode, these final episodes do seem to finally be going in a coherent direction, but this is the 3rd episode in a row featuring a super powerful adversary that feels like they should've done a bit more with it. It was bad enough when 02 dropped the Dagomon plot out of nowhere and I'm glad we got to finally see him in action, I just wish they would've shaved down some of the other scenes and gave us some more details on this underused and little understood mon. The group actually being unable to defeat Dagomon at all was a nice touch and I'd enjoy a round 2 before the series ends, maybe between Dagomon and one of Gulus' evolutions.
They skipped a few things this episode not just the intro. Mainly the evolution sequences besides siriusmons. I think they are trying to trim the fat in episodes to try and wrap up the plot and i imagine future episodes will do it too. Theres a ton of delays and cancelations going on right now with currently airing and soon to air anime and ghost game is trying to wrap things up while they can. Thats my guess. I think they originally planned for the series to go on a bit longer than it is scheduled for now. Blame the yellow bear living next to japan and the anime industry outsourcing labor to his country.
I had a sneaking suspicion that the writers of Ghost Game had to quicken up the pace on this show. I would have preferred them ending it as part 1 and then do a part 2 later on similar to Xros Wars. But I guess things are not as easy as it seems over in Japan. Shame too because there were so many unresolved mysteries and now they have to rush to resolve the main mystery regarding GulusGammamon.
Cool, that some more lore about the dark ocean ruler. Maybe more will be seen with the 02 cast returning soon. Dragomon last appearance was Hacker Memory, as a new evolution. I be into him fighting all the dark masters from 01.
When I first played Digimon Survive, I thought the "hands from the void" were actually a hint for the Dark Ocean. That plot should be taken up in Digimon media ASAP. It's just too cool to miss.

a light fan theory, the dark ocean is the latency between earth and digital world systems. because of the lag it is slower to render sight and attacks.
The dark ocean was touched upon in fact it was how they banished Barbaramon in the end of 02 and Kari does also show up there again in Digimon adventure tri for a person who knows about Digimon you really forget some of the subtle details

If Dagonmon is a Avatar of Dagon he may infact be unstoppable, as Dagon is one of the Old Ones. If your not up on your HP Lovecraft that he transcends existance as we know it. In the Chtulu Mythos Chtullu himself is only a servant, a Harbinger of the great old ones, but like them can't be stopped only delayed. Of Dagonmon is a aspect of Dagon the best that can be done is to temporarily block his access to the Digital world everytime he shows intrest in it. That is the ture Horror of Cosmic Horror, the things lurking in the dark can't be stopped, destroyed, or reasoned with. The Digital World is just a passing interest, one of the layers of a reality that will dissolve and be forgotten once the most powerful Old One Nyrlahoteph awakens and stops dreaming it.
I find it interesting that in the same episode where Lamortmon and Thetismon get their first time out(s), Hiro and Camoweissmon/Siriusmon proceed to carry on despite the time-out warning going off for them too...

This episode was definitely worth pausing my watch through of the og series.
The dark ocean did appear again in 02 and they even named dropped Dragomon, but they only opened a portal to banish Creepymon and never talked about it again
Ick. Daemon. Creepymon is such a stupid name. Some dub names are cool like Omnimon and some are better than the originals (e.g Gatomon > Tailmon) but Creepymon is right up there with Kerpymon in terms of cringe.
I will never refer to Daemon as Creepymon. That’s just too lame of a nsme for a demon lord that used to be a Seraphimon.
I literally thought of the Dark Ocean when I saw this episode. It’s my headcannon this is the same Dagomon.

Well Deemon did say that Dracomons Sea is a place he knows and visitet before. suggesting that he and Dracomon are sort of relatet. and Deemon in particular was revealed in some manga story to be a Super-Mega level at full power, in 02 he wantet the seed of darkness back, that myotsimon stole from him. i never understood why the digidestine choose to oppose the guy, but in the digimon tri movies genai did say he bring back Apocalymon and Deemon and that movie that takes place before kizuna, is still something that needs to come out. as we also haven t had a proper conclusion to some plot points in those movies yet. and a digimon 02 movie is in production, so dracomon appearing here with the sea again, could very much be a hint at whats to come in that movie. Dracomon not being defeatet also fits the lore, Karin said its full of evil, and deemon is literaly a Demon by name, and a master of the dark arts, he also said its Dracomons sea, meaning dracomon ruiles that place. like say the sovereign do rule the directions. being that Powerful that Deemon respects you means you properly mega or above. so no suprise that theiy coulden t defeat him, Super mega is for those that don t know, the level of wich Omegamon belongs to. so if dracomon is that powerful. its no wonder theiy stood no chance and running away was the only way out.
Maybe when he was sent to the digital world, he ended up with Kari. Maybe this was a prequel to the Dark Ocean episode
I don’t think the digital world is gone since while not very reliable it is mentioned in some series that the digital world appeared eons before our reality but that might not be cannon in every series.

They should have had Davis and his crew deal with the dark ocean and dagomon the adventure kids had to deal with apocalyptmon or however you spell it and that would have been a good equivalent to that

I think really dagamon should stay A mysterie just popping up now and than and than dissapear withouth explanation leaving only the fans to create theorys but never finding a true answer that actually would feel very fitting for what he is supposed to represent. My theroy it was mentioned that there are many different universes so maybe one unlucky digimon went to the darkest of all dimensions!
I find it very very odd that we have continued to see Espimon's evolution (which is fine) BUT that they are not using the quality animation for it. It just seems really strange. Also, the timer thing. Two of the ultimates run out their timer, so I'd better go MEGA to get around that problem
I think everyone was expecting Dagomon from the preview title and it was good overall. It definitely makes a lot more sense to have a one-off episode like this in ghost game than in 02
well to be fair we also skipped Jellymon and Angoramon's evolutions this week. Bigger fish to fry I suppose

The Cthulhu mythos is a bit too much for a kids show, you could make it kid friendly but than you would ruin the Monster. i think its good the way they did it. Making references to HP Lovecraft's work people who read the stories can understand, but keeping the show Kidfriendly and keeping the H.P Lovecraft stuff mysterious.

I'm pretty sure the Dark Ocean is where Digimon plot points and lore go to die. Which includes what little lore of the Dark Ocean exists. It's like it was a cool early plot point for the series, that they discarded, but occasionally reference.
This is wishful thinking, but it would be nice if they actually did a series from the perspective of Dark Ocean connecting to the different worlds, Digital or Human. Several Digimon are stated as being from other unspecified worlds, they could specify some as being from the Dark Ocean and having gone to other worlds in search of help against Dragomon or fleeing it's tyranny.
At the least, they could flesh out its lore a bit more.
Yeah that would be cool, like that game Epic Mickey where you were in this world full of rejected Disney ideas (or something like that, it's been a while)

Unless im completely wrong (pretty sure im not but please correct me if i am) the dark ocean is part of the dark area. The dark area is split up into multiple areas and is basically digimon hell. The areas i know of are each ruled by one of the 7 seven demon lords and one by grandracmon and im pretty sure theres a few other areas im forgetting. Dark ocean belongs to the demon lord of envy leviamon, who sleeps at the bottom of the dark ocean where the dark web is at. Still a cool idea though. Would be neat if the dark area had digimon or digital lifeforms that are native to there like how wizardmon comes from witchelny. Something like that would have to be pretty scary and eldritch imo. Lol

I’m pleased that dagomon has been utilized in ghost game far better than he was digimon 02 which has unfortunately wasted his role and potential I’m glad he portrayed as intimidating and menacing entity befitting from lovecraftian abomination like Cthulhu which dagomon design is based on I’m glad they resolved the plot from 02 that went wasted forgotten and unresolved I’m also glad they do that dagomon justice better than he was in xros hunter which he was underutilized and wasted

That original episode always bugged me because it's barely mentioned again and nothing comes from it. I remember when they beat the new myotismon and the show ended I was thinking what about that weird seas monster thing. I ain't talking about me cack.
I wish the'd actaly used the conceot of a completely different 3rd world, making these creatures not digimon, but something completely different
Second comment here, but if you ever want to do more non-Digimon related content after Ghost Game ends, looking at some of the Transformers shows might be right up your alley. Beast Wars, Animated, and Prime are my recommendations since they’re all really good shows. The 1984 cartoon, simply called The Transformers, is also fun and good in its own way. Sure, they all have their issues, but they’re all still series that I enjoyed watching and would recommend to people.
Yep I watched Beast Wars growing up. No plans to cover Transformers on this channel though!

For those who dont know, the problem with 02 was that there were too many cooks in the kitchen, each trying to do a separate thing with the story. The dark ocean plot point wasnt left unsolved, it just never got resolved. netiher did creepymon even after being brought up at the end of tri. so sad this stuff never got seen through, as 02's og ending was very anticlimactic and over all didnt feel like an ending, just a cop out that the writers of the following connected series like tri and last kizuna had to fix.
Based had a different idea bout Canoweissmon's dice since Gulus did show some form of presence in the episode as well, but your idea of Call of Cthulu may be on the money nice stuff

Given that the Dark Ocean has been revisited several times since that initial episode I think it was but was dropped for some reason … like Jeri losing Leomon instead of her helping him digivolve to fight Beelzemon (while everyone else just stood by and watched) 😒😒😒
That is a crazy call back I was only a kid when that episode aired I use to get scared of that episode because of those crazy ugly looking digimon.🤔I use to think they were digimon that were cursed or made that way because of a virus in the ocean area I like the call back.

Why am I getting the feeling we're going into Lovecraft territory?
I think back in 02 Dagomon was definitely a dropped plot element, but here I believe for possibly the first time ever, Ghost Game's tendency to jettison the villain of the week without clear explanation of their motives or goals was wisely chosen. Dagomon is, of course, a blatant Lovecraft reference. And in this episode his ability to hypnotize people and transform them into grotesque fish hybrids is a very deliberate callback to The Shadow Over Innsmouth. In the final moments of the battle it almost appears as if Dagmon had "died?/self-mummified??" and the rush of tentacles made him appropriately too powerful to defeat and impossible to fully understand. Just the way a cosmic horror villain should be.
_If_ Ghost Game didn't cram a shitload of plot into the last two minutes and overshadow the rest of the episode, _if_ Ghost Game wasn't a worthless monster-of-the-week every single week, I believe this episode would really stand out as a stellar one-off in the vein of Adventure:'s episodes 12 and 44 (and several others).
yeah hilariously this was the one monster of the week where i would have preferred they didn't cram story components into the end. You can even hear in the structure of my video, it's all this stuff about Dagomon and then I kind of awkwardly pivot to talking about the last two minutes
Yeah, my only big issue with this episode was cramming the plot into the last 2 minutes. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed it

Like usual with GG, I'm a bit mixed on this episode. While this was a creepy episode, and Dragomon looked really awesome, this episode feels like a bit of a letdown. My big problem with this episode is Hiro's fishing trip. Why he's fishing right now? There's a big problem with the Digimon's, and he decides to go fishing. This episode proves something I've felt about Hiro; he does not care about anyone. There are many moments in the show where Hiro could help someone but only gets involved when the situation is at its worst. I might be going a bit overboard on this one, but this is one of the worst parts of Hiro.
As for the Dagomon and the Dark Ocean plot, I just don't care anymore. The Dark Ocean should be more involved with the season 2 crew. Heck, their movie could be more about that and how it works. This episode doesn't examine the DC or why Dagomon is doing this. It was neat, but it just feels weak in certain parts.
No one in this show has any agency whatsoever.
Let's bring up Gulusgammamon for example.
He's this psycho murderous digimon that appears everytime Gammamon gets mad. Everytime he appears he catches a body and clearly wants/knows something.
You'd think they would research or bring up this guy a in their free time, right?

They don't try to resolve the issue with Gammamon's clear anger problems which brings out the guy, they don't do any research, NOTHING. It's like they don't care about the guy until he appears, says something cryptic, and leaves.

@@djdragondrawer9339 I don't think they've ever brought up Gulus before. As soon as he disappears, they forget he was ever there. I sometimes wish Hiro and the others asked questions about Gulus or what even Gammamon is. Still, I wouldn't say this problem lies with all of them. Take Ruli, for example. Whenever one of her friends has a problem, she looks into it immediately. The only problem with her story is that it's always a new friend rather than her two main friends. It's good they change it up, but it gets old fast.
