If anyone ever questioned why i think this is the best sport in the world, i would show them the footage of the athletes chalking each others backs, pulling the straps of their suits and standing there encouraging their "opponent" to get the last stone up whilst holding out their arms in case they need more tacky! I mean, come on!! This is basically a group of brothers having a freindly, loving brotherly competition! ❤
they want to compete against each other at their best. no other obstacles for each other than their sheer physical strength
Love strongman and call me crazy if you like but I like to see a bit of needle between athletes.. I’d argue it adds to the competition not detracts. That’s why Eddie and Thor were so popular.
@@wontforgetme123 We're in an era of strength where the levels are just getting better and better and more insane. Part of that, is the camaraderie the athletes share, being able to train together and push each other. At this level of competition, with the weights involved, ego lifting, aggressive lifting and doing things in spite of another athlete will probably cause injury. I think all athletes respect each other, just because they know what they are all doing collectively puts them in the top 0.1% of humans EVER lived (strength wise). Eddie and Thor were friends, until Thors failure at WSM 2017. A 6th Podium, missing out on the win again f**ked his head.

Awesome show - first strongman comp I’ve ever been to, and what a way to start! The guys were amazing, especially Eddie Williams, setting a world record on the Nicol Stones and not long after singing to us all accompanied by Anna Lapwood on the organ. Well done to Evan, a truly hard fought victory. Saw you, Loz and Liz, filming BTS and have been waiting for this to come out ever since. This was a really exciting comp. Big congrats to Evan! I got my top 3 prediction right, but I wasn't sure about the order. Eddie walking with the stones to infinity and Tom doing every atlas stone in one motion blew my mind the most.

Super happy for Evan! I knew he had it in him if he was healthy. Loz, I would love to see you do a breakdown video of all the top strongmen and their injuries/surgeries they struggle with.I know most of you don't like to complain and make excuses...but it's obviously a major part of training and recovery. It's so much fun to see guys compete when they're healthy and in their zone.
I look forward to Hooper training even harder with the fire under his ass that this comp has now lit.
could be an interesting one. there are a number of athletes who's career ended because of injuries in the sport, but there's also a few who got better after their recovery. a great example is probably Big Z who tore both his knees before he really won anything in strongman.
@@sharpestbulb I didn’t know that. I would love for Loz to do a video on it. I assume Big Z had his knee problems back when Pudginowski was dominating.

Happy for Evan but gutted for Tom as well, as they finished half a point apart, that 0.02s on the yoke decided about first and second place. They really need to find some technology to time those events, humans cant measure that accurately enough.

Has Biby ever finished a competition? I think he gets too much leeway.
An event world record gets you invites. Couple that with his unreal potential that everyone can see, and a little sympathy for his country's situation and I don't think there's much leeway given. Who doesn't want to see him compete? That being said, I'd wish he'd pay a few more dues and compete regularly to get the experience in. Even more so I'd wish he was coached by Loz.
He has finished many competitions only recently he has not as well as last time he did the Royal Albert hall he got 3rd it’s like everyone has short term memory

If it helps prevent injury, I'm all for suits but if it's just about getting a few extra pounds on a lift, I think they are BS.
@@DallasG83 My only issue is the records from Eddie and Thor, so maybe leave them in very specific deadlift-only comps. Here, it's just worse for the athletes imo.

Sucks to see what happened to Biby. Would losing the excess fat assist him in being indisposed to injury? The guy is constantly putting on mass but what good is that strength if the end result is that you are injured and unable to compete.

Man the days of Big Loz, The Beast Eddie Hall, Brian Shaw, Thor, etc etc going at it sure was the best days of Strongman in my opinion.. y'all was sooooo fun to watch super strong and talented. This new generation of Strongman is entertaining as well of course 💪🏆🤘

Stone came apart - got rock bits stuck on his hands. They discussed it in the livestream yesterday.
It was awesome to see such a great contest for the podium, but it's just left a sour taste in my mouth, that it was decided by 0.02 seconds hand timed on stopwatches, by different referees. (Like when Paul Smith was allowed an extra 10 seconds on the farmers, which changed the podium). I mean come on. Just use electronic timing already!
