These two terrorised Spurs for 4 years. Especially Hasselbaink. Even as a Spurs fan I'll say they were an excellent partnership. Gudjohnsen was still a class act when he joined us in his later years.
I was in a men's shoe boutique in Covent gardens few years ago. A black cab pulled up outside and Jimmy Floyd Hassibank got out and rushed into the boutique. He told the shop assistance he was in a rush as he had to catch a flight but need a pair of shoes he wanted. Although, he was in a rush he had no problem having a quick photo with me.. many thanks Jimmy.
Lucky you. I was working in a watch shop in knightsbridge when I saw a familiar face looking at the watches from outside. Oh sugar, it's Melchiot. I couldn't rush out as he walked away and I could have gotten the sack.
thankfully you behaved like an actual fan..... I've heard that Jimmy visits the bridge frequently and after the match no one bothers to ask him for a selfie or an autograph..... he's a Chelsea legend end of discussion
Marvelous 45 minutes of football talk...Two humble men and the interviewers listened to understand!
What minute and 46 seconds did u not like
Eidur Gudjohnsen is one of my all time favourite players at Chelsea. So underrated. But his partnership with Jimmy will be always be one of the best in Premier League history.
dundon9999 soot on mate 👊🏾 CHELSEA LEGENDS!!
Yeah
Remember his overhead kick against Leeds? Oh wow!
@@haddingtoniangcp2464 it was Amazing - sooo good
Gudjohnsen is amongst Chelsea's best strikers ever on the low. What a complete forward! Amazing finishing, dribble, playmaking, quite physical. He rivaled Drogba
Being a lifelong Arsenal fan, watching Eidur Gudjohnsen and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink play together as a strike force is part of the romance I feel for football. Extremely underrated by history, but you can see from this interview after all these years how much chemistry they had, and have. Thank you for bringing them into focus again.
R they were lethal and underrated .
I appreciate your comment/opinion as a Chelsea fan.
Henry and bergkamp were better
@@ronfrancis7009 for sure. Yet, one can safely admit that beauty has no comparison.
I felt the same about Cescy for you mate. I would go to Highbury if we was away to some unimportant game just to see him. When he joined us I threw a party. Was a crime we got rid of him.
18:25 'I think I'll be here longer than you', MASSIVE and ballsy. I have been a Chelsea fan since 1965 and for me, these two were the GREATEST strike duo EVER in world football. I love them and will NEVER forget them.
Shame Jimmy never lifted a major trophy for Chelsea. Two absolute heroes for a young Chelsea fan during their peaks.
Yeah true we won trophies before he came and after he left.
This is a brilliant interview, their personalities just bounce off eachother so well 👍🏽
spaceman_ They were a really good strike partnership as well mate
Lethal pairing on the pitch as well. Loved having these two at the club
Seem like extremely intelligent lads the pair of them. No wonder they did so well.
Not only that, they were hungry to win and were unselfish when the other was in a better position. Strikers these days are just hungry to score
They are step brothers! Same father! 😂
One of the greatest Chelsea injustices to me was not having Hasselbaink in Jose's first season. Kezman was useless in games where if Chelsea had Hasselbaink instead!?! My goodness.
iS THE RIGHT ANSWER
Could have won treble.. And even Crespo was loaned to ac Milan.. Who ultimately scored in final against Liverpool
Jose said to Hasselbaink after the season that he got rid of him a year too early.
@@Bobbywoodhogan even back then Jose showed signs of the idiot he would become.
If that team had Zola & Hasselbaink in the 23 man squad we’d of won the Champions League that year, and possibly gone unbeaten. City away was our only loss if memory serves me rightly.
Hasselbaink has the hardest shots I’ve ever seen in football. The power he hit them shots at were incredible.
One step pen 💥
Tony Yeboah had the hardest shot.
@@roberthemingway9553 i was just going to say was between one of them 2 also ginola couod hit a ball
Dean Hendry Laurent Robert could also smash them. Every goal he scored was a world class goal.
@@Lualua25able true mate i can stil remember that screamer against man u WHAT A GOAL
The best forward partnership in chelsea history , these two knew each other so well . So underrated at the time .
Oh definitely mate I think the best partnership aswell was when it was Chelsea and russian money
pete smith this is kinda old move on
Supported them since 93 long before Russian money ..but hey football is money.. all top clubs have Arab..Chinese and American billionaire owners..so your point is old and boring now
Just read an article about Chelsea strike partners. Didier Drogba and his shadow made me laugh.
Dixon & Speedie run close. Great era too.
Almost cried watching this....two most underrated premier league players
Did u cry when u supported city instead? Everyone knows city fans r actually ex Chelsea fans must be a money thing
Up there with ade akinbiyi
Gudjohnsen sounds like he could be James Bond.
Can't explain the emotion.. But its so nice to hear them talk about their time at the Chels. Felt so personal. Loved watching it soo much. PS - Jimmy.. Eidur.. Proper Legends.. Love you guys.
Two legends and work very well together. Could definitely see GudJohnson as a sports host, BBC MOTD could do with him.
He'd be way better than Shearer
Yes it could. Get rid of Shearer! (They NEVER will). But put him with Danny Murphy. Like the Shearer and Wright partnership. Have them two form one.
Gudjohnsen was absolutely hilarious 😂😂
As a 97 baby I grew up watching Mourinho's Chelsea. Will always treasure those times, absolutely loved Eidur. Also my Dad cheekily named me Luke, couldn't quite convince Mum with Luca
So u supported Chelsea after that lovely money then u still support Chelsea or is it city now that r your team
@@petesmith7632 haha good one. Dads been a chelsea fan since the 70s when they were losing to Gillingham 😂 still a faithful supporter mate 👍🏼
pete smith He said his dad named him Luke but couldnt convince his mum for Luca, im guessing Gianluca Vialli. Like me, this is his family team... Are you salty because you’re a Spurs fan or...?
@@LosPoderes7 you got it. Respect brother
Yeah sure u both supported Chelsea before that lovely money came in haha
Eidur best first touch I've ever seen from a Chelsea player and their partnership the best we've had in my era of the club (50 years)
This is amazing!! I became a Chelsea fan watching these guys and Zola. Love it. Eidur is funny!!
Me too bro. . . 💙💪🏽
So u both became fans after that russian money was put in.... interesting
@@petesmith7632 these guys existed at Chelsea before roman what the hell are you on about
Thanks man :)
Yup I did too
Excellent interview, just beautifully done. Love this two, Jimmy was an absolute goal machine! He scored goals everywhere he went and Gudjohnsen is such a polite and well spoken man. So underrated. They have a nice sense of humor as well.
Best thing sky has put on in so long, great ppl n great players with a genuine love for Chelsea n football
Met Jimmy in Grand Cayman, just before he signed for Leeds, had a great day at the pool bar, absolute top bloke.
they should defo do more interviews like these in the furture. very interesting talk and insight
Eidur: "You remember we played at Chelsea?"
Jimmy: "What...??"
These guys were real true legends and they’re very sincere with their judgement about themselves. Great to see you guys together again .
Jimmy and Eidur were amongst the BEST strike partnerships ever.
This interview was bloody amazing. Two brilliant people who are entertaining and have so may Great stories. Eidur and Jimmy great players as well as personalities hope they can join our Chelsea staff.
Two Chelsea legends. This was great viewing.
stop copying meeeeee good eidur gudjohnsen
I clicked to see the Hasselbaink smile
I clicked hoping to see his big ass
Galveenus I see what you did there
Great to hear from these two legends... I just wish I could've seen more of them at Chelsea, a great duo on and off the pitch.
Love the interview, Gudjohnsen was my favorite Chelsea player, him and Hasselbaink were having great chemistry up front.
This duo was Chelsea's best striker partnership ever since I've been a fan in 97. No other strikeforce comes close..
The dynamic duo! JFH an EG used to read each others movements before the movement was made, they had a Zen-like connection in attack. It hurt when EG left for Barça, where he didn't really get to play much.
The pairing was magic to see in action, they could open up defenses with such skill and intelligent movement.
Great interview! Great chemistry! So organic and simple and honest. Great work!
Eidur gudjohnsen is the main reason i support chelsea , i remember writing an autobiography about him at school when when i was 10 years old. im 29 now. This video fills me with absolute joy! fantasic player!
Two Chelsea legends - thanks for bringing me such joy watching you play. 👍🍻
Did u support Chelsea before or after when the Russian money ruined football
Pete if you really truly believe that Romans takeover of Chelsea is the reason football is as it is right now you are incredibly ignorant. Get a life troll. P.s, if you're not trolling and are just stupid please accept my apologies.
Hasselbaink and Gudjonssen Chelsea best and probably most underrated partnership
Zola bounced back like the legend he was and got player of the year.
Indeed. 18 goals in the 03 season. Remember how he toyed with Carragher in that final game? Absolute joy to watch
Been dodgin this recommendation from CZcams for a while. Glad I finally clicked!! What a great interview!!!
Same here.
Same here

Thank you guys for bringing Chelsea to another level.
His great chemistry with Jimmy even kept the great Gianfranco Zola on the bench. One of the best to play the game and with all due respect, a player more talented than the two of them. Eidur even said in an recent interview that he loved playing with Zola and admired him to the point of trying convincing their manager to start all three of them when Eidur and Jimmy were on fire and Zola had to stay on the bench. Eidur really never was a true old school nr. 9 like Jimmy, he was adapt at playing in more than one position both because of his football i.q. and versatility. I remember some commentator recently (who was an ex chelsea player ) likening Kai Havertz to him.
Chelsea fan since 1982 - It's been a fantastic journey and the journey continues. Great interview with humour.
Now we are European champions again what a journey 🙌 more to come
The best striker pairs are always the ones where each player fulfills the other's weakness with his qualities. Where opposites not only attract but blend together into some magical yin yang. Jimmy explosive force and finishing in the box where his strength while Eiður's football i.q. was his biggest strength, his reading of the game and finding open spaces to create chances for Jimmy. Other examples are Dwight Yorke & Andy Cole and Peter Crouch & Jermaine Defoe.
Unbelievable pair, was an honour to watch these growing up as a Chelsea fan!
Hasselbaink's goal-scoring record against Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea during his time at Leeds and Chelsea (and Middlesbrough) was excellent, with some highlight-reel screamers against them all as well, so he definitely wasn't a 'flat-track bully'). During his season in La Liga with an Atletico Madrid team that was relegated in 1999/2000, he still had an excellent record and scored against all of the heavyweights, i.e. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Valencia and Deportivo.
It's a big shame that the only major trophy he won during his playing career was the Portuguese Cup in 1997 with Boavista, when he came on as a late substitute in the final.
Damn..this is a good interview...love Chelsea since zola and Tre playing...this give a sweet memory lane
I absolutely enjoyed this interview🙌💙
Great interview - could do with hours more of this!
Loved the combination of these two, loved Gudjohnson game more..Oh Houllier, Not signing Anelka on permanent, getting Diouff, not pushing for Gudjohnson. Anelka, Gudjohnson, Owen upfront would have been awesome. Zola was great as well, a PL legend
Good watch,Jimmy Floyd was top class
This was such an amazing watch and listen!
Jfh hat trick against spurs one with the right another with the left and a header unreal. Two great players
One of the best hat tricks ever scored IMO.
@@ReasonableVoice yeah I was lucky enough to see him score it. Think it finished 4-0. Great and I mean great goal scorer and yet he won nothing. Wasn't he top scorer for athletico Madrid and they still got relegated,?
@@bluegraham1 Very lucky mate!
Not sure if JF was top scorer at Atletico but he scored 24 in 34 appearances for them apparently, and yeah they did get relegated. It is a big shame he never won anything. Listening to him here, you can tell he has some resentment toward a certain Italian "tinkerman" too.
I rate Hasselbaink at a similar level to Diego btw. He's not quite Drogba-level, but he's well in the conversation of Chelsea strikers just below him.
Voice of Reason Ed de goey scored more goals than him that season
Perfect hattrick
I have evaded this interview for far too long. What an absolute pleasure to watch it now. I have to see it again very soon
Hasselbaink under Mourinho for that first season would have done bits
Two of Chelsea’s greatest ever players.
These two were so good, how I'd take them back now atm
Best Owner in Football
I watched Gudjohnsen playing for Bolton in the Championship on tv and could see how great he was.. then surprise, surprise, Chelsea signed him shortly after and for me Christmas had come early. And then signing JFH was the cream on top. The rest is history. Thank you guys.
Fantastic interview....thanks
We need Abramovich back in Stamford bridge,Maybe that would motivate our current players more
A year on...CL winners
Aged well
Yes indeed.
What a great interview! Cheers
Great memories of these two up front. Proper football in those days. Lubblyjubbly.
Beautiful interview. Legends
What an amazing chat, so much insight
Great Job with this New Segment on Sky Sports Football CZcams Channel! More contents like this to come please? Can you guys do it every transfer window? Great segment implemented by Sky Sports Football in my opinion.
Absolutely love this..💙💙 So much emotions in the 45mins..🙌🏻🙌🏻
This interview is tearing me up. I supported this club watching both of these guys playing for the club and because them I supported Chelsea. Just legends.
These two gave us chelsea fans such great memories man. God bless you both
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was a very good striker! I think he played for Leeds too.
great interview.
2 of the most underrated Premier League strikers of all-time. They had some marvelous seasons.
This was a fantastic event. Thank you. Very entertaining.
Two greats that we can never forget , they bought us so much joy
Great interview! Thanks
I always wanted Eidar at Liverpool, Oh well, Great Player
I definitely believe Jimmy broke the Wrists of a few Goalkeepers in His Time!!!! The power He got into His shots were unreal and with little back lift too….
Him and drogba playing together would have been monstrous
Im not a chesea fan but i knew how good jimmy was playing for leeds utd
Both of these guys had a great understanding as players together for chesea dont know what they won in terms of cups etc .great insight to tranfere and club sytems great video and two very nice guys both humble not to big headed
What a classy player gudjohnson was.
Silky touch
Intelligent
Great movement
Really high football i.q.
What a couple of gents
My best days spent watching these two play at the Bridge. LEGENDS.
What an absolutely fantastic interview.
I know he played in England for several years but Gudjohnsen's english is nothing short of amazing.
He grew up overseas in Belgium mostly where his dad played for Anderlecht. He also spent 2-3 years at PSV as a teen and made his debut along with Ronaldo who was 1-2 years older. That's why he had such a connection to Jimmy, he could speak to him in dutch. Because of how few Icelandic people there is a high demand put on language study in the school system. At around 11-12 you start learning Danish and English and few years later German. Most kids are already fluent in English by then because the T.V. and the movie theaters never dub their American/English material thank God because it's dreadful lol.
As a Liverpool fan. Boi oh Boi Chelsea had players my goodness. GudJohnsen and Hassselbaink ballers💪
Great show! Keep it up
The longest I've ever watched a youtube video. KTBFFH.
Great duo. Love Hasselbaink 💪🏽
The best Striker duo of Chelsea❤️
I remember when Jimmy scored a own goal ... Even that was a goal of the season contender. Hahah. Love these two guys. I remember Jimmy's outside the box shots. 💙💪🏽
Yeah was a beauty of a header weird how u both became Chelsea supporters after the takeover
@@petesmith7632 you okay bro. I've supported Chelsea since 96 so wtf you talking. Man like Pete Smith. Don't talk like your the oracle . Even though I am defo younger than you. I bet I'm still more of a hardcore fan than you. 💙💪🏽😎

Loved this, two Chelsea legends and amazing footballers
Always played with these two on fifa 02 on the Gameboy advance, they were beasts
It's nice to hear players who were primarily concerned about game time, instead of the money.
Imagine picking Mutu over Jimmy Floyd. 😂😂
Id pick a night out with Mutu❄😂
Love the both of these guys
This was a fantastic watch
Legends. Loved watching them as blues
Enjoyed each minutes.. good chelsea times.
"When the club wants you, the manager calls you. When the club doesn't want you, the chief executive calls you." 😂😂
The biggest takeaway from this interview really
Thank u both 4 bringing such happy times in chelsea i love 👀u both . Gud days
As a Leeds fan I can’t even be mad at Jimmy. Both were great players in a great Chelsea team. I always regretted selling Jimmy on championship manager/football manager.
