I liked Roller Coaster Crafter's solution of putting the fan-powered car on a train to help it complete the Knex mini track circuits. Those 3D printed bearings are pretty neat too!

Unreal to see! I spent all of 2005-2011 on SS Coasters building Knex coasters, it was such a small hobby that got basically no widespread attention. Now I see them all over TikTok, and such amazing innovation. Really amazing.

Duuuuuuude, great video!! Cannot wait to see the outcome of The Bat with corkscrews!!! I forget how many years ago I had heard about this original design, at least 10-15, maybe more. To finally get to see it in action is a dream!!

So I think the corkscrew is possible design wise but physics wise it's a no go. I imagine there are some crazy G loads on the riders going through that section. For sure there would be a serious whip when the cars reach the middle and exit the roll. I think that whipping motion was what made the element to much. If the cars didn't swing it would be better but that extra swinging caused them to really whip hard coming out of the roll. If they could design some type of system that would lock the cars before they entered the roll and unlock them as they existed it then I could see it working.

Nice. You know, it's funny you mentioned that many model builders are working for actual companies. I just did some work for a ride company, as a contractor, but I can't really discuss it yet. This is truly an amazing time to be alive and experiencing the first golden age of model roller coasters. I wonder if my flat track designs are the "Racer" of this era. :)

Model roller coaster culture is a fascinating and unique subculture, and it would be interesting to see more documentary content about it, similar to your announcement video. The process of designing and building these miniature coasters can be complex and intricate, involving a wide range of skills such as engineering, physics, and creativity, as well as a community, industry, and world supporting trends and developments that casual enthusiasts like myself hardly notice online. Understanding the evolution of the culture and its trends would also provide valuable insights into the passion/dedication of its community.
It would be great to see documentaries that delve into the process of building model roller coasters from start to finish, showcasing the creativity and ingenuity of builders as they come up with new ideas and tackle challenges along the way, and the process behind some of those amazing industry collaborations too. Documentaries could also explore the unique challenges and considerations that go into designing and building miniature coasters, such as scale, materials, and making imagination a reality.
Highlighting the community aspect of the model roller coaster culture would also be important, as it is through collaboration and sharing ideas that the culture has grown and evolved. By showcasing the connections between different designers and builders, as well as the various resources and communities available, documentaries could help foster a sense of community and encourage more people to get involved.
Overall, I believe that documentaries about model roller coaster culture would not only be entertaining and informative, but also inspire others to get involved and contribute to this unique subculture.
I know this would be a lot of work and you've already got some exciting projects going on, but it would be cool to see more content like this!

@@CoasterWriter I always think i build way to slow. I only work on my builds for maybe 1-2 hours every evning after work mon - friday, no more then 5-10 hours a week total, I dont work on stuff at the weekends either.
I know if i move to a part time job I can start putting more time into it on the content creation side and hopfully grow my social media a lot more while producing a lot more builds. but I get so burnt out from work i just dont have the energy to do anythingf when i get home lol

Great inspirational video! There's really been some great developments over the past years especially in the K'nex world and especially thanks to Johny. But one big source of inspiration for me was Firestorm 2, which is pretty old. The model coaster that had it all, Block sections, ceramic bearings, custom (CNC milled!) Wheel assemblies, launch, lift hill, smoke effects and eddy current brakes. All back in 2011.
To me this is the OG serious model coaster :).
