This may sound a little bit of an overkill. However, could you do an EAS scenario where the core of the earth has stopped revolving, there has been a loss of gravity and the earth is starting to come apart as a result? 😀
If worldwide tsunamis and earthquakes are a bit overkill, this should be wayyyyyy too far on your scale.

So i actually felt an earthquake while watching this, and it terrified me oh god-
you should do an eas where earth moved away from it's orbit and started falling down from space and never stops falling
