To be blunt, Mitsuru's defense overpowered Wiess' offense. And Mitsuru just waited until Weiss' options ran out and capitalized on it.
The worst part is that they could have gone for overkill and given Mitsuru the Omnipotent Orb.
Poor Weiss… the Persona games get absolutely nutty, so this was a huge lowball for Mitsuru. For context, in one of the later games (which she’s relative to), one of the spells is a straight-up quasar being fired at the opponent.
Also the summoning of deities, demons, dragons, etc from IRL myths, legends, folklore, etc.
Agree, they nerfed Mitsuru here and she still won. No way Mitsuru should have taken that much damage to need a heal, imo.
Yeah, this battle was over before it began. One can heal, one can't. Even if Mitsuru didn't have superior stats, gues who's winning the battle of attrition...
yeah...but i respect Weiss for one thing. when she understand she can't win....she prefer continue to fight, dying the sword on her hand

I see her fleeing back to her friends in any real canon material.
@@ramenbomberdeluxe4958 nah, Weiss won't be able to escape a pursuing Mitsuru, with clairvoyance and who is also extremely perceptive, especially injured. That being said, DB lowballed Mitsuru here, I guess, to make the fight look closer than it actually would be.
Tiny detail: when Weiss's ice attack hit Mitsuru, you can hear the drain sound effect from the Persona series.
if i remember correctly, they actually used Weiss's actual voice actress from the show for this episode.
Yes and I believe they also had Mitsuru’s original English VA, but I could be mistaken.

I think Mitsuru’s is just a very good sound alike, though as they actually did get Dante Basco fir Zuko, anything’s possible.
The only RWBY Death Battle that didn’t have the actual actress was S8’s Mikasa vs Blake. Unfortunately, it’s rather noticeable, and not even fir the reasons you’d hope.

Well Death Battle was owned by RoosterTeeth, it wouldn't be that hard to get a hold of her. But it was also why a lot of people expected Mitsuru to lose, bias and all that. Thank goodness they saw there was no way Weiss was beating Mitsuru. (Now we just need to rework Yang vs Tifa)
Seeing Mitsuru recover to full right after summoning back the ally that took so much effort to defeat mustve been the most disheartening thing to see
You guys might want to avoid watching the Blake VS Mikasa Death Battle until you finished Volume 7. You should also watch Yang VS Tifa since it covers only up to the first two volumes.

If you'd like to learn more about Mitsuru, there is a 3-part animation of Persona 3 that you can watch. It condenses a lot and doesn't include the "social links" that gives the protagonist power, but it goes over the story really well.
There's also an animation for Persona 4 and, I think, Persona 5.
Yeah, there was P5 animation, but it's quality was memed to oblivion.

Ehhh, you gotta be careful when suggesting animation versions of longform games though. I'd much rather they do a lets play of the persona 3 remake on ps5 or whichever console they prefer that just came out recently.

@@ramenbomberdeluxe4958 I actually have Persona 3 FES on PS2. The animation makes sure to catch all the main story beats in 3 40-minute chunks

Regarding the means of summoning personas:
The fear of death and appreciation of life are the two aspects which a persona user can use to summon their personas. The group in Persona 3 uses the Fear of Death aspect for how they summon their personas via the Evokers that they have. Of course, it is possible for the means of summoning that a Persona user has to change.
Since the P3 group gained the ability to summon their personas without an Evoker as they gained a appreciation of life. This is displayed in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax when the P3 crew shows up. Also P4AU is set three years after the end of Persona 3/FES/Reload. So yeah, we get to see what the characters are doing after their battles
Also for another Death Battle reaction, aside from Agent Carolina Vs The Meta, I'd like to recommend Lucario vs Renamon. That Death Battle is by far my favorite.

the persona series can get pretty nuts, ant the game Mitsuru cames from, Persona 3, probably had the most powerful end boss in its entire series. Altough that doesnt make Mitsuru automatically stronger, it does tell you that she had to keep up with more powerful people
Idk man. I'd put Nyarly above Nyx but he's limited to the collective unconscious so I guess in the normal world, Nyx would be the strongest
With ice immunity and healing abilities, Weiss was put up against someone equiped to deal with her.
Can't fault rooting for Weiss, but I think she'd really like Mitsuru if y'all had the chance to learn more

Mitsuru's analysis is weird since it's mostly accurate but they mispronounce, like, *everything*. That's not how you say Penthesalea, for one. The game itself says it like a million times so it's not like they had any reason to say it otherwise. The emphasis is on the FOURTH syllable, not the third, too.
This fight was crazy The battle between two queens of ice born in power and skill and combat
What they didn't cover until after the battle is that every persona has your "navigator" who can analyze an enemies strengths and weaknesses. Mitsuru is that person for the first chunk of the game. And they make it very clear in P3, since all Personas are their own self contained stories, that Mitsurus Persona can not only analyze that for a game mechanic, but to the degree of seeing layouts of rooms she's 20 floors below, what's in those rooms, and the weaknesses of who's in those rooms. Her persona is also unique in that it has those analytical capabilities and combat capabilities. So it actually stands to reason that Mitsuru knew what and what not to do literally on sight.
Also not really a story spoiler for Persona, but the arc of Mitsuru is how can someone be so rich, beautiful, and smart. She's also top student and class president practically a genius. She is the best at everything she does. The game frames it as a downside, but let's get real, not really a fatal flaw. Is that she's obviously sheltered and you teach her about how us poor people live. Like she's never been to a movie theater before, or eaten fast food. You have to teach her how to eat a burger and she's like WITHOUT UTENSILS?!? It's dumb to the point it's comical.
I remember watching this a while ago but i didn’t remember Mitsuru winning this one, if anything you y’all could check out all the supers on Persona 4 Ultimax and all of its supers, some of them are cool to see!

Gonna say this loud and clear. THIS WAS MY FAVORITE DEATH BATTLE. Why? Because I am a fan of BOTH characters. While its sad Wiess lost. It was the most BADASS fight ever! It was so freaken fun to watch. This fight alone was just so enjoyable! Win or lose. ALSO What if Mitsuru and Wiess teamed up?! They be unstoppable!
The fact Weiss cant even win a 1v1 in a fanmade animation calculating statistics is pretty staggering considering how hard she likes promoting herself as the absolute best. Yeah and people wanted HER to have a one on one with Adam. Just because shes the Heiress. Much as we dont like Adam here, i dont think Weiss would stand a chance given shes more support and has the endurance of a shopping bag.
Weiss has Burst but no sustain so if she fails to overpower her enemy within the first few moments, her chances drop significantly and become a battle of how long her Aura can last. In every fight in RWBY that went on for a long time, Weiss was eventualy in trouble or needed help/ ended up suporting her team. She is strong, don't get me wrong but as much as I hate to say that, this is a fair assessment how this would play out

Yes I also loved this death battle, and even though Weiss lost, I’m at least glad she didn’t have a gruesome death like other deaths in Death Battle 😭 also they set Weiss up with this match up 😭 I do think Weiss later in the series would be more fair, but she’d probably still lose, like Mitsuru has ice nullification

Fun fact: Each Persona game have their own set of rules on how they obtain their powers, and where those demons/shadows materialize.
The story of the Persons games are separate and not a continuation of each other, despite the fact that they live in the same universe/planet but in different time periods.
Persona 3 protagonists are adult when Persona 4 protagonists story start, and they don’t know about each other existence canonically.
The arena max story is canon

We all know that the only true factor here is that Weiss won like one 1v1 fight in 8 seasons
The Persona/SMTvers is crazy IDK why they ever even did this fight. It shoud have been over the second it started if it was "realistic"
Poor Weiss indeed, they put her against someone who is literally IMMUNE to ice. But of course, they lowballed the hell out of Mitsuru to even try to convince Weiss stood a remote chance against her. Still funny as many RWBY fans agree, Death Battle gave Weiss more justice here than the entirety of RWBY despite the loss. The death still SUCKS though, worst in the series, for all I know, Weiss is still alive cause they didn't show her body (Feels very corporate to me "You can kill our character... BUT DON'T SHOW THE BODY" lmao)
But that's my opinion. I'm just happy to see the only Persona character that's been on Death Battle win. And it being Mitsuru, who was a character I really loved after playing P3 Reload win, makes it even sweeter. Hopefully if Death Battle continues, they do more Persona characters. My bets are on Joker (Persona 5) vs Giorno (Jojo's), but my dream matchup is Tifa Lockheart (FF7) vs Makoto Niijima (Persona 5). I can hope, but yeah, awesome Death Battle reaction as always!
Yeah no, RWBY has NOT had a good reputation on death battle. First time was the most blatant corporate nonsense, two others were convenient wins in the side series, and Weiss doesnt even get a good death. It all feels fishy at best or blatant bias at worst :/

When in fact, they both come off as unlikable Aholes who both murdered an innocent woman doing their job with no remorse. Especially when it comes to Blake where Mikasa was only trying to help. Then after getting her arm cut off with no Aura, thinks she can take on a titan and say "INCOMING!" like she's the coolest b*tch in the world lol
Now this leads me to say that of course I'm wishing EVERYONE who's involved in Rooster Teeth's closure the best. But this does lead me to hope if Death Battle does continue, that if they ever do more RWBY Death Battles, there won't be any fishy corporate BS anymore. And the characters can be represented well and stuff
This. Mitsuru was lowballed like crazy here. This should have been a stomp in Mitsuru's favor. No need for her to heal since she shouldn't have taken heavy damage, if any, at all. And def agree with all that corporate BS. You can even see it here with Weiss's "death", making it look ambiguous.

Yeah, in D&D terms, Weiss is a wizard, specifically a bladesinger, but is too focused on support. You can notice that on RWBY since she usually never wins a solo battle but helps a lot on groups battles since she is a great ally and support for others. If this was a groupal fight, team rwby would win and Weiss would have a better chance to get the spotlight in the fight

5:08 thats a lie and an easy 1 to spot for anyone that have watched the show. Not sure if they tried to buff her there but i´m guessing she gonna lose as a result. In the show Wiess aura from that lava dident just drop below 10% it completely drained it to 0% which they say and show on the scoreboard.

@@stefanjohnson8047 No Negative Weiss can warp reality and manipulate concepts and Law, She is way beyond Persona characters, More on par with To Aru characters, You just have to look at RWBY Ice Queendom and the abilities she had, And if you're somebody that understands how dimensions work you will see she is a Hyperversal reality warper, Team RWBY should have never been able to beat her at all, But plot. Which is funny because she Also has Plot Manipulation.
