My world has missed you so much, Colin. Beautiful song, and beautifully presented…the message hits home at the age we are now. But the message is simple and wise for any age. Thank you.
Colin explores down-to-earth themes in an imaginatively brilliant way. Indeed one of the greatest songwriters of our time - quality wins over quantity!
Wow! What a wonderful song! Beautifully played (all instruments by Colin himself!) and arranged. The video is classy too! It’s a brilliant gift to his fans!!!
It just proves what a brilliant songwriter & singer Colin is & him & Andy should never have split XTC even though there was never any official announcement..... This & Scatter Me are class.
I am trying to mend with a band friend... we were in First Grade together. As teens we started a band and kept it going (with long breaks; I quit once, a friend filled-in) for 35 years. Sometimes it's politics, spirituality, or who knows what. Colin seems more grounded to me. Andy is struggling a little, perhaps.
What a superb tune! I guess tomorrow the mailwoman will deposit my physical vinyl copy of this jewel...Perfection in 3 minutes 17 seconds with a wonderful melodic/rhythm twist at 2:35...BIG thanks Colin, you know you got a loyal friend in Madrid City Spain. With my best wishes!
Beautiful song with a hummable melody that, for some reason, takes me back to the sounds of British pop songs from the 50’s and 60’s. It’s lovely, Colin - always great to hear your voice and songs!
Finally I get to this. The world is a better place with your music, Colin, single by single. And as a bassist, I am once again enthralled with the lines on this. Thank you and may the spring in your garden be blooming.
I left the UK in 1983 and this totally reminds me of the somewhat romanticized view of the country I had before I left as a young teenager...all church organs and countryside. Cool!
Ohhhhhh YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS. The New Song Of Genius Colin Moulding Des XTC. Merci Beaucoup. Elle Est Superbe Cette Nouvelle Chanson. J'aime Beaucoup. Merci Mr Colin Moulding. Vive XTC.
Colin is not only a great bass player but also a fantastic songwriter with a unique voice. One only has to listen to "Bungalow" from the Nonsuch album to appreciate the brilliance of Mr M!
Why is it that I cry when I hear these great songs by Colin and the great ones from Andy.....oh yeah. I long for XTC. But at least this beautiful output from both still exists. Please keep them coming Colin!!!
So So Catchy ,So Beautiful . Colin Is Muso Muso ,his Bass playing with XTC Really was Outstanding . Thanks for this ,Best Wishes to Mr Moulding .Great Muso .
I like the way that Colin seems to be writing as if these songs were for XTC albums. It could happily sit alongside Fruitnut, Frivolous tonight and in another life. Scatter me had the same feel. Very well recorded too. So the death metal album probably isn't going to happen.
@@InParticularNobody I think Say It (his last song for XTC released in 2005), Scatter Me, and now The Hardest Battle are all better than any of his songs on the two AV albums, and I greatly enjoy all those songs. He's on quite the roll now.
Well, the XTC “sound” is as much Colin as it is Andy; in fact you could say his DNA is in XTC. They are, in effect, one and the same - in a word, fantastic!
Quite nice and catchy song. Go, Colin! I had given up ever getting any new music from you. What a nice surprise. You, Andy and David are forever in our hearts.
To be honest, this is my second listen and it's just fantastic, really. What I find this time is that it should've been a minute or more longer. It goes to show that Colin has that great talent for catchy pop tunes. The lads should really come together and produce some more great magic. It's waiting to happen.
Wonderful Colin - seems like this could be sort of a companion piece to One of the Millions with a more optimistic message - and love the many Colins singing along in the background Beach Boys-style - beautiful pop music, sir - thank you!
I know you have said writing and recording an album is a lot of work. It is. But thanks for this amazing addition to your stellar body of work.. We can only imagine a 12 song album/CD with your level of craftsmanship, exquisite melody, and real meaning to be born. But either way, your legacy as one of the finest songwriters and bassists is set. My mount Rushmore of my favorite bassists includes you, Chris Squire, Paul McCartney and Bruce Thomas. Cheers!
As ever inspired. The song reminds me of ‘Say It’, rhythmically, and also ending on ‘now’ with the same gentle sense of urgency and modesty. To me there is a McCartney like texture to Moulding’s vocal, but the character is all his own. What a voice, lyrically and musically. To quote one of his own songs, ‘Greatness, it’s where I wanna be.’ To me that’s right where he is and he’s been there a long time!
This song is superb, Colin! I ordered your CD immediately. Speaking as an interested party, wouldn't you like to publish an entire new album of songs? It'd a be a great service to music lovers everywhere! 😃
Colin is a tremendous musician and songwriter. But more importantly he just gets life. Just be yourself, everyone else is taken.
Big Hat for a Big Mind: tip one for me. I'm on the wagon right now, but I know I will have a good beer someday.
Mr.Moulding is a world class writer, bassist and vocalist.
Colin's voice, among select others, has been a part of my musical DNA since I was a kid.
It's warm, familiar and always appreciated.
Nothing better than the warmth of a nice song from an old friend
YOU SAID IT, BON-BON~
Well said. XTC are all national treasures. They are like good friends. It almost makes me weep. And I'm not joking.
I'll repeat that.......Yes indeed well put, had no idea this existed til just now, so happy to see & hear.
I am a huge XTC fan, just discovering this three years after it came out, wow, fantastic.
My world has missed you so much, Colin. Beautiful song, and beautifully presented…the message hits home at the age we are now. But the message is simple and wise for any age. Thank you.
Awesome,Colin is a brilliant song writer, don't ever give up writing songs, lovely video too 🤟

Colin: please tell us you're going to record a whole album of your solo stuff.
On the latest episode of What Do You Call That Noise (an XTC podcast) he says no!
@@jordancooperlalala Too bad. I think we need it!
@@supernaturaltelevision415 I'll take anything at this point

Beautiful! Great to see the pipes still work well, Mr. Moulding!
I may have commented before, but I’ve come back to this song twenty times just this past week. A gorgeous, wonderful song. Thank you.
One good comment is better than thousands.
One of the greatest voices in music history.
Anyone notice that the "...Now." at the finish was HIGHLY reminiscent of the end of "Say It"? Made me tear up. Both wonderful songs.
Colin, thank you for bringing your music back to the fans, it's been too long!
We love it my friend. Happy tears & swinging hips all around (Rusty & my good lady & me) Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Colin! X
Wow! What a wonderful song! Beautifully played (all instruments by Colin himself!) and arranged. The video is classy too! It’s a brilliant gift to his fans!!!
All my favourite XTC songs are Colins. So glad to hear him back again.
After 30 listens in 3 days I'm here to say this is a great effing song!!!
Spread it far and wide!!
It just proves what a brilliant songwriter & singer Colin is & him & Andy should never have split XTC even though there was never any official announcement..... This & Scatter Me are class.
Scatter Me and The Hardest Battle are among the best songs Colin has ever written.

Absolutely Awesome BB-ish Pop Song. Thank You Colin!
Wise words. Colin always struck me as an exceptionally grounded creative individual.
That's a great comment. I just said as much above, before I saw your comment. Grounded.

What a lovely surprise!!!
His songs have so much charm. And it's not false or fake. It's genuine charm.

An important message, needed now more than ever. Great bass line, too! (No surprise there.) Lovely song.

Medicinal Music.
Thank you, Colin! Awesome to see and hear you!
This is magical and deserves to be a number one hit.
in a real world, yes. In this current musical environment not much of a chance. It doesn't matter as long as his fans enjoy it.
It does, but in the modern 'musical' age it won't be. It's in tune and you can understand the words for a start.
This man is so damn underappeciated!!!

Very beautiful and great song Colin. Honoring the art of songwriting again
Great. This Song has XTC-Level. I‘d Like to hear more from Colin.

Have to say I think it's way better than his A.V songs (which are themselves pretty good..).
The muse has truly visited him with this one.

Very lovely song and production. Loving the McCartneyesque bass feel and the surprising prominence of that organ.
Beautiful song, and this time the "dragon on a hilltop shelf" line reminded me of being on Dragon Hill across from the Uffington Horse.
Resonates with a beautiful sense of history
Great song. Always enjoyed his Ying to Andy’s Yang.
RIGHTEOUS, MR. MOULDING.
A rare example of a classic artist delivering material which is on par with their best work.
I love this, immediately took me back to that distinctive XTC sound.
