- The Nanny's Sylvia Fine was perhaps most known for offering her daughter overbearing guidance, pressuring her to get married, and feverishly eating her way through the Sheffield household. But the character portrayed by actress Renee Taylor is best remembered for all the laughs.

Renée Taylor doesn't get enough credit for portraying Sylvia. One of the finest performances in a sitcom ever.
❤
Slyvia - "Niles do I smell banana fritters?"
Niles - "No"
Sylvia - "Could I?"
It's simple to quit over eating; I've done it a thousand times!
Season and episode???
czcams.com/video/kOoahmqcDsc/video.html
But they'll need chocolate on them.
Let’s be real about this. Sylvia and Yetta were the two funniest people on the show, period.
and Niles!
true
💯
and C.C😂
The Niles & CC banter duo was pretty good too.
very underrated:
Sylvia: "If you leave, I'm going to throw myself in the Hudson River!!!"
Fran: "Ma, flooding New Jersey is not gonna solve anything!!!"
Brilliant!
"You didn't wanna order. You were too nervous to eat. Now you DEAL WITH IT."
The officer behind her reaction lol
"Don't be such a gentile!" As a Christian, that was hilarious
The Wild Queen coming from a fellow Christian, yes. LOL
Funny
This made me choke laughing!
I know, right! I though that was one of the sweetest moments of the series too.
FRAN'S NOT MARRIED SHE'S ALL ALONE!
Louder, Ma. I don’t think they heard you IN URUGUAY!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yasssss still funny in 2020
My mother🤣
@@mktkt7456 Good one.
Two things: "I am missing Jalapeno nachos for that moron?" & That stare-down at Fran's wedding when the priest asked if there were any objections.
"I am missing Jalapeno nachos for that moron?" is exactly what I missed! That face that she did when she realized that the break up was about Val and not Maxwell was hilarious!
@@marcuslopes9334 yes!!!!🤣🤣🤣 that was the best part of the whole scene!
Erin Witcraft - YES!!!! That stare-down had me rolling!! LOL!! :D
As a Jewish man, I can attest that I have relatives who act exactly like Silvia.
As a Jewish man, I can relate
Oy.
Oyyy, as a Muslim, Sylvia is my mother.
😂😂😂👍🏼
Nothing today is nearly as good as The Nanny
Need to add one more. "say hello to your new nanny" she walks in n hops on top of Maxwell's desk n break's it's leg with her weight. LMFAO
What about when cc is talking to Niles about helping out an old lady and yetta ts standing there and then suddenly Sylvia comes out and she has a tiny bikini and she tells Niles can you help me get this on?
That's one of my favorites too!!
Best part is that whole scene was unscripted and Fran begged them to keep it in.
I came here looking for that......what a let down!
@@db60615 They uploaded it on the official channel
" you were too nervous to order , u didn't want to eat , now u deal with it!" The woman's delivery is pure gold.
Whenever I read "Renee Taylor" at the opening of the show, I knew it was gonna be a great episode...Sylvia is my favorite character ever !!!
I can't believe the funniest scene from Sylvia wasn't here: her surprise birthday party when she entered the house and said "Oh my God, oh my God" pretending to be surprised and Fran told her "Mom, I hope you fake it better with daddy". 😂🤣
Another funny scene with sylvia was when she took the cake and ran away with it and Fran was trying to stop her😂
@@crozzxj8556 Yes! 😄
@@aina2165 😆
🤣🤣
"I'm a hippoglycemic." 😂🤣😅
To this very day, everytime I see Sylvia's face, I get hungry 🤣
😂
Omg best comment
😂
Sylvia. "Do I smell french toast, eggs fresh strawberries and freshly squeezed orange juice?"
Niles' reply, "no"
Sylvia "could I !"
I love when she told Gracie to give her a foot massage - and told her to start with the big toe and Gracie said "they are all big"
Don't forget when Gracie was applying nail polish to her toes, Sylvia says, "On the one where there isn't a nail, paint the skin" !
😂😂😂
LMFAOOOO
“A woman is like a delicate flower” 🤣🤣🤣that was a great episode
Renee Taylor just nails every line .... from her "Hippoglycemic" to "Quick get me my medicine!" (Which ends with Fran explaining she broke up with Val not Mr. Sheffield. Sylvia rolls her eyes and says "I'm missing jalapeno nachos or that moron" ) 🤣
Sylvia is one of tv’s greatest characters 🤣😂🤣😂
I have to agree. She was hilarous. Although not my favorite character, but still hilarous! She did a great job!
Just loved this show! Pure comedy and class!!!!
Comedy yes! Class nah!!!
Happily Divorced is a gem as well! So good with most of the characters
Class? Lol
@@leiarichardson65 Ok fine probably Class was the wrong word lol but it sure is fun and silly to watch;)
@@lottiewright6836 lol very true..one of my favourite comedies of all time
This show had the best cast. They deserved all the awards.
Is it just me or does anybody else think Sylvia Fine needs a whole another show for herself !!
Hippo-glycemic took me OUT!! 🦛 🤣🤣🤣
The medicine scene will always have me laughing so hard!! Sylvia was my favorite
Excuse me I’m a hippo glycemic, that line right cracks me the hell up without a doubt! Classic comedy 🎭
Omg she's literally my favourite character of this show. There are so many videos with Niles and grandma Yeta but none with this absolutely outstanding character. Thank you so much for making and putting this video out there.
You mean Niles.
@@kennethmaese4622
Yes, that one. Just edited it, thank you.
Yea tbh i think Niles is overrated
@@KanadeLapisI hate Niles . Especially how sexist and awful he's with c.c
"Quick! Get me my medicine!" My favorite Sylvia line! I knew that had to be number one!! LOVE this show!!!! :)
She is outrageous. What an awesome actress she is.
This how a mother is supposed to be
I'm a hippoglycemic 😂😂😂
I love how Sylvia savours every bite, she's in her own world.
One of the most genuinely funny shows i've ever watched. You can't find shows like this today.
Burns & Allen comes to mind. Gracie Allen and Fran D. are both natural comics with words
Sylvia's expression of frustration before screaming "Alright, what is this?" is hilarious 😆
Like many others have stated; watching this amazing show is like eating comfort food, i feel the same way about The Golden Girls 😊
That is also my case! Every time I feel like laughing I watch the Nanny. I know by heart most dialogues and still makes me laugh😁
Yes. My two fave shows.
Speaking of the Golden Girls, Grandma Yetty should have been one; she could have been Ma's roomie, who busted out with her.
Renee Taylor's delivery at 6:20 is so hilarious, probably my favorite Sylvia moment
I read that early in her career she was a standup comedienne. I'm sure that's where she learned such perfect comic timing. I ❤ Renee Taylor!
“I just came by to tell you you’re KILLING ME!!!”
My mother every year me and my sister doesn’t give her a grandchild
She was marvellous! best character ever!!!
you left out " I'm sticking my head in the oven!"
That was my favourite scene
Then moments later she comes out with plate of crab cakes and asks if they are done 🤣🦀
"Hippoglycemic" 🤣🤣🤣 kills me everytime
Sylvia was so great!! Loved the scene where she was replacing Fran (while Fran and CC were on Jury Duty) and she hops up on Mr. Sheffiled's desk --- and breaks it! :-D :-D
hahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Omigosh yes loool. The look on Mr Sheffield’s face too 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My favorite was during Fran and Maxwells reception, when Sylvia was dancing with the Rabbi. She asked if he wanted to join them at Wolfe’s for French Toast. He says “But we just ate”. Without missing a beat, Sylvia says “But not French toast!”
We did the "quick, get me my medicine" in a presentation of "Pride and prejudice" - in our version, it's Mrs. Bennett who gets palpitations and Mr. Darcy randomly running in to feed it to her. :D
That's hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
Huh
My favorite was
Sylvia: I’m gonna faint, somebody catch me!
Ray Charles: I got you Sylvia! (Facing the opposite way)
“I’m going to go into the kitchen. I need a meat to wash this down with.” Ron Swanson is that you? Her appetite is a combination of Ron AND Leslie. 🤣
"Morty! Stop sucking the chocolate off the chocolate covered raisins!" We never see the alter cocker Morty.
Actually we do, and its such a let down.
@Chris Carson because for one thing he was not played by Morty Drescher since he played a different relative along with Silvia Drescher. And he was a let down because we are led to believe that Morty Fine was fat and bald and he wasn't any of those
@@LaKellita I loved Morty Fine and Morty and Sylvia Drescher
"Damn I broke my nail" lollllll
"Say hello to your new nanny!"
*sits on and breaks the desk*
"well I'm trying" 😂😂😂😂😂😂
"hold me! Don't be such a gentile" IM DEAD
I have too many relatives, including aunts who act just like Sylvia.
I got a few fridas lol
@@noramero2955 are you guys going hungry at home from them
My favorite character on the series!!! She's the best!
the Elizabeth Taylor scene she was in was hilarious
The one with Biles the Nutler?
Sylvia: “oh my God I’m having palpitations! Quick! Get me my medicine!”
Fran grabs chocolate syrup and and a tablespoon! Instant relief! Amazing actresses!
the medicine was the best! i used to watch this when I was a kid.. makes me laught everytime i see this.
I am now addicted to watching "The Nanny" each weeknight on COZI TV! Love Sylvia and her eating! 😸
You're killing me - just like my Aunt Ida used to shout if a dropped jam on her expensive persian rug - in the kitchen no less.
Chocolate is the best medicine!😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Out of sight, out of mind... :runs with the cake
Sylvia eating that damn coaster fuqqin killed me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Me too- my cork popped and laughter filled me and the room at that one.
It's the faces and stuff she does after delivering a line as she pauses to give you time to laugh for me
This show was one of the finest, every character stellar yet they do not outdo each other. I loved it so much.
Renee Taylor is a genius. Looove her
Love their fashion so over the top but suited them and the scenes!
[Fran and Sylvia are held hostage by a bank robber]
Sylvia:
He's not wearing a ring!
Fran:
Ma, he's a thief!
Sylvia:
[emphatically] Who'll be worth *millions* in a few minutes."
Seriously, along with Niles, Sylvia is the BEST CHARACTER in the Nanny ! She's hilarious 😂
Niles, Fran and Yetta are the best characters! 😂👏🤗🤣
I was freaking out because the bank robber was Peter Scolari from Newhart & Bosom Buddies! LoL 🤣
@@goldilox369 "Madam, you are not going to die" "No, she meant you"
The bank robber took your mother!
That poor man!
Sylvia and Niles are my favorites for sure.
🙏
Yetta was not far off. She was hilarious as well.
I am dying laughing for the medicine scene, was so hilarious, actually i was searching at youtube for this scene, finally i got it, this was so iconic
The best sitcom show of all time. I love it. They show them 4 times in row here in germany, and hope they still do after the final in a few days.
Hab nicht gewusst, dass deutsche Männer sowas schauen..hihi
@@Kareena1988 Schwule Männer schon ;-)
@@migau71 ok..haha
Sylvia is my favorite character from the show. So funny.
I enjoy hearing how hard the audience is laughing. As a performer, that must be wonderful. p.s. Rest in peace, Peter Scolari. You were a real doll.
5:50 Drop that pastrami! LOL
She makes me smile!
this show was so amazing...like watching a Broadway play....
I love her character and she played it so well .... same goes for Yetta .. same goes for everyone on that show. Love it and will always will for it makes me laugh !!!!
Whenever Renee Taylor is on an episode it's always a riot! Add Yetta and you get the hat trick! What a fun show!
From México: I'll keep watching this show every day of muy life. 💙💚💗💖💓💕 I love this
I went to Halloween 22 years ago as Sylvia, as a large man I got quite a few whistles in public. I had the most fun doing the wig! Omg the teasing!!!! It was like a helmet!!
Those exaggerated bouffant hairdos were hysterical...the big bustline was killing me...sooo heavy!
We neeed prooofffff
Did you ever find Morty
This show is truly one of the funniest in history and does not get the attention it deserves!
Sylvia reminds me of my Mom, I just love her 💞
I love Sylvia! She is adorable!
"feverishly eating her way through the Sheffield household" :DDD
I couldn't describe it more perfectly
If my medicine was not #1 i would have had a BF😂😂😂😂. Sylvia is my Guru. ❤
When Maxwell, learned how to speak to,Sylvia. 0:07
“I just came by to tell you....YOURE KILLING ME!!!”
My spirit animal!
Sylvia is a fashion icon
SYLVIA FINE WAS THE BEST WRITTEN CHARACTER IN FILM HISTORY , the show could have been a documentary !
This show was always packed w/laughs. You knew every character. SYLVIA talking to the news reporter, (I think after they're released as hostages & she's asked for her thoughts, ( she's chewing a Chinese pork rib from the restaurant next door)...her reply to the reporter as to what she's thinking: " Honestly, they're a little fatty - they must be undrr new management". Her delivery was always spot on perfect.
Laughing so hard! What a talent!
Sylvia "medicine" gets me every time!☠😂🤣😅
That number 12 spot "You´re killing me!!" should be #1
The medicine moment will always be favorite.
I'm certain Lady Bunny idolized Sylvia!!🤗💋
Omg totally, Bunny's just more gross lmao
After may be 20 years .. and it’s still funny .. Love ❤️ the show ..😂😂
“I need a meat to wash this down with” 😂😂😂😂💀
HIPPOGLYCEMIC lmaooooooooo im dead!!!
I just came by to tell you...YOU’RE KILLING ME!
Such a great actress and character
Hippo glycemic LOL!!!
This entire series (her, Fran, and yetta) were criminally under appreciated gay icons of 90’s tv. Don’t even try to convince otherwise.... thank god for reruns as a young closeted kid ☺️
They were icons for many people, not just gays
Icons for Generations. 🙏🏻
@@jayv7006 Thank you.
I love Sylvia 💗💗💗💗!!!!
I will always love the Nanny 💖💖💖😍😍💖
