    Thank you so much for the info, Radioactive. I have a Shredder project I'm working on right now and I happened upon your video. Very informative and I will be trying your advise. The info will come-in very handy. I did have a Redcat Shredder at one time and I loved taking her to our local soccer fields/park, but the failing steering servo went out in a high school parking lot when I was doing speed runs and she drove straight into a curb at full speed. Needless to say that the front end pretty much disintegrated upon impact among other things. But I was able to save the electronics and bought a new rolling chassis at a third of the cost of an new unit(about $150). But I want more power and I will definitely upgrade that problem steering servo. No parking lot curbs this time; we are staying with the soccer fields/park this time. Thank you for the advise and I'll keep you posted on how it goes with the project.

    Damn this is just about exactly what I've been teaching on my channel for over a year. I run the Rage Rc Repair CZcams channel and have done tutorials on everything you stated. Also if you didn't know it I have custom springs designed and for the stock shredder shocks to solve the sagging issue. Works pretty good. Also using 75w90 gear lube in the shocks makes them dampen perfectly! You gotta try that. The only difference is I never built a center support from tower to tower. That's a good idea for preventing the input cups on the diffs from being shoved in by the driveshaft. Good advice there! And the tape things I've done for a long time. Works like a charm! The only other difference is you use 50k front and rear and I use 30k. Pretty good video man! Only thing I would add is a good tutorial on the install for the arrma shocks. Those look perfect for the shredder height and suspension travel. That's a damn good upgrade. Good job!

I will definitely check your channel out Rage RC Repair! The Arrma Kraton 6s rear shock work perfectly on the race track. I have another video where I show the diff shimming and bash bar build of a stock Shredder with Traxxas Maxx shocks with inner springs. The Maxx shocks work perfectly for bashing and taking jumps. Any motor with a diameter of 36mm should work. Add some fans when you get a chance. I’m going to be doing a video on directional heat exhaust very soon. Lol because the front wheels were turning in one direction and the rear we’re turning in the opposite. Does it matter which one front or rear needs to be on top?

So, I’ve got a question that I’m hoping you can help with. I’m currently in process of going through all of your recommended updates and I purchased the recommended shocks, but the shocks are not a direct mounting replacement to the OEM shocks. What exactly did you do for the top and bottom mounting, especially the bottom as they have a smaller screw hole than the OEM shocks? Do you carefully punch out/remove the screw mount on the lower shock tower? I think I can figure out the top mount with proper spacers, but the bottom mount has me a little stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

      Thanks for watching Larry and welcome to the channel! The Redcat Shredder is an amazing platform and has a couple crucial problems that once worked out can be an amazing RC. Definitely one of my favorite platforms to work with. We have done some amazing things with this platform including a 12s Dual Motor Super Shredder model and a 2speed Shredcat that is crazy. Check out the videos and hopefully it gives you some ideas for your Shredder. To your question yes they do not directly mount up it is a very simple fix. You will need about a 1 inch piece of polyurethane cut in 4ths about 1/4 inch with an interior diameter of 4mm in an out side diameter of 5mm. You will also have to change the top shock bolts to 3mm. You can find it at any hardware store. I have a video giving an example I believe it’s somewhere around the 10 minute mark. It’s the same spacer used for the body post. I hope this helps Larry if you have any further questions don’t hesitate to ask. We’re all about the Hobby on this channel and smiles per hour! 🤙🏼☢️

      Thanks for watching Paul! Not a nobb question at all. In fact it’s the most commonly asked question regarding the Arrma shocks and the Shredder. You can buy an Arrma pillow ball set or make your own. If you go to any local hardware store you can find these short half inch polyurethane plastic spacers I use the spacer with an ID of 4 mm OD 5mm or close to it. I cut the polyurethane to the length desired and slide it in the eyelet works perfect. This is my preferred way to mount these shocks. If you find yourself needing a little bit more spring the GPM gold springs work amazing on the Arrma shocks. They are a little pricey though. Good luck with your build! ☢️🤙

      I’m excited for you Vincent! BULLETPROOFING your Shredder will be the best upgrade you will make. I have 4 Shredders from 4s-12s not one broken diff and I bash the heck out of all of them! The polyurethane body spacer can be found in most hardware stores. I believe the OD is about a quarter of an inch and a quarter inch inch deep. It’s just a little bit bigger than the a pencil eraser. If you have any questions during your build let me know and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Here’s a tip that I did not mention in the video. If your ring and pin gear feel tight when you’re putting the bulkhead back together then loosen the 6 bulkhead screws 1-2 turns. It wont harm anything it just gives more tolerance in the bulkhead. Good luck Vincent! 🤙🏼☢️

    • @RadioactiveRC
      @RadioactiveRC  Před rokem

      Hey Vincent I just got your message about the diffs. Don’t panic it’s a common problem I had wished I had included in the video. Unfortunately I figured out the cure to that problem after the video was made. Typically this problem is in the rear differential bulkhead. There are six screws on the top of the bulkhead including the bolts that hold the pin bearing at the rear drive cup. Pin point where the grind is coming from the front or the back. Loosen those six bolts two turns. If that doesn’t correct the problem continue to loosen the six bolts each a half of turn until the grind stops. This helps increase the bulkhead tolerances. Loosening these bolts will not effect the performance of the bulkhead. Let me know if you have anymore questions and if this helped. 🤙🏼☢️

    • @RadioactiveRC
      @RadioactiveRC  Před rokem

      Thanks for watching and welcome to the channel! The Shredder is a beast but must be BULLETPROOFED now or later. Later will cost you more. For the shocks I use two types. Arrma Kraton 6s (rear) shocks in all 4 corners. The Shredders shocks are the same length. So you use the rear Kraton shocks with a pillow ball kit or polyurethane spacers for the eye holes. When you watch the full step-by-step video on BULLETPROOFING the Shredder it will show you in the first 10 minutes the type of polyurethane spacers you will need. Your Second option is to buy a full set of the Traxxas Maxx (4s). They are all the same length so you can buy a complete set. I think the Arrma shocks are better for going fast racing through corners. The Maxx shocks are heavier and better for jumping and bashing. If you want the absolute best combination I particularly like the Arrma Kraton shocks with the GPM gold series springs. I show their performance in several videos but they are pricey. I hope this helps. This channel covers the Redcat Shredder six ways from sideways. Message if you have a question. BULLETPROOF your Shredder and let everyone know where you saw it! Thanks for watching! No thats not normal. The 500k is fine it’s the two shims putting to much force on the sun gears.
