I do the same with books. I buy them and if it's a 5 star, I'll put it on another shelf. If not, I'll donate it to my library. It works out in the end.
If you are a member of your local library you can probably rent ebooks for free. Most libraries have partnerships with apps like libby so you can use your membership to read for free

I'm 40 and back in my day, romances were looked at as low brow, grocery store rack trash. If you read those sorts of things, you were ugly, can't get a man, just weird women. It is sooooo accepting now and I'm soo damn proud of you 20 somethings holding these smutty, trigger warning books up and say "Hey, we like this!" I was howling watching you reach to Magnolia Parks. I have it on my shelf and haven't read it but it makes me want to read just to be a part of the girl group. I have no one to really talk with about books, that's what's special about the book community. Different books for different women. Go, us.
What's funny about going to the bookstore, is you're looking for certain genres. Some people like Anime, are we going to just them for liking that content, seeing how they love those women. We have red flags and unrealistic men and women in every genre. Get your Normal People and Haunting Adeline and check the fuck out.
