Here's why Liverpool was interested in Gordon.
1. Newcastle inquired LIVERPOOL about signing Gordon, but Liverpool rejected further negotiations after Newcastle wanted Jarrell Quansah as part of the deal. (Newcastle wanted money ot get on the right side of PSR-rules.)
2. Gordon is a Liverpool fan, his biggest hero growing up was Steven Gerrard.
3. Salah Isn't getting any younger. (Yes, I know Gordon is primarily a left winger)
4. Luis Diaz continues to be linked with Barcelona and his family obviously want him to get a move to Spain someday.

Didn’t know where Dewsbury hall was going but heard him say 30m€ and immediately thought “that’s expensive but I’m sure Chelsea would think that’s a steal”, only to then learn Chelsea did sign him for that
The liverpool newcastle talks started because newcastle were worried about their psr situation and offered gordon to liverpool in exchange for cash plus quansah. But liverpool rejected cos liverpool didnt want to sell/let go of quansah. After they sold minteh newcastle weren't as desperate to sell gordon, but gordon was keen on the move and liverpool probably thought to test the waters and put a bid for gordon.
All of this started because of newcastle and their psr concerns.

In hindsight, I'm actually thankful Chelsea hijacked Dewsbury Hall deal. We're better off using that money on Weiffer and Yalcouye.
Lol, as a Chelsea fan, Dewsbury-Hall doesn't exactly get the heart racing, but this isn't 2007 anymore. The championship is a much higher standard and 30M for the best midfielder in that league (who is only 25) is completely reasonable in a market where 18 year olds with a few dozen first team minutes are worth 10-20M.
