Context: Basically leagues get points based on how well their clubs did in Europe, because of what happened in the 3 european competitions, and the standings before the season, the Bundesliga and Serie A got an extra Champions League spot, going to Bologna and Dortmund, so no Guirassy and Anton did go to a Champions League team

You are misinterpreting the Joselu transfer. Joselu got that offer days before when Real Madrid were still deciding if they wanted to sign him on a permanent and he wanted to get a bag for his family. He communicated that he wanted to go there to Espanyol and Espanyol said that Al-Gharafa had to negotiate with them. Real Madrid caught wind of this and decided to make his loan deal permanent and sell him to Al-Gharafa for the same price as his permanent fee was so there no chance of the deal falling through in negotiations. Carlo wanted to keep him, but Joselu wanted to go get a bag for his family and Carlo respected his wishes and did what he could to make it happen. It's actually one of the few times that Real has shown respect to a cult hero that isn't retiring at the club. It was a really nice gesture by Real and was essentially their way of saying thank you for your contributions last season.
