Thanks for the great video. Appreciate it very much. Recently ordered the Shearwater Peregrine. I’ll be starting a PADI Open Water Dive Course and I thought I’d like to have a basic and reliable dive computer for a start. I took the NAUI basic diving course in the mid 70s but didn’t dive much after getting certified. And I realized now-after hibernating from diving for decades-that I’ve been overtaken by events and state-of-the-art technology in diving.

I really love mine. I'd been waiting for a computer manufacturer to see the need for a large screen color computer that caters to the rec diver for a while and putting off purchasing a new one in hope of that one would magically appear. I bought the Peregrine the day it came out. So far only 14 dives on it but for me it's worth that price and more. My eyes have a few miles on them so reading the computer easily was my #1 concern. CHECK! I could read the Peregrine easily without using the gauge readers stuck in my mask. Color contrast is as important as size for me. Easy to navigate through menus to set up for different gases. Totally love the bluetooth for easy logbook entries. Easy to check on nitrogen loading and CNS clock. I'm strictly a recreational diver staying in the 130' depth range as a maximum and tec diving is definitely not in my future so the Perdix and several other tec adaptable computers really don't make sense for me. The elephant in the room is the AI/compass issue. Yes...that would be really nice but now I have to consider price. In the US (I understand in other countries it is not the same) the closest competitor in features (with large color screen) is the Suunto Eon Core at nearly double the price. Triple if you get a transmitter to use the AI feature. So at $450, I can happily use my old analog pressure gauge and compass. Great channel BTW, really enjoying the content!!

      Hello Brad!
Wow what a fantastic review of your experience so far with the computer, I can't wait to have mine and start diving with him. Several of your points are critical for me by the time to choose a computer (other than the price for the Peregrine). The color contrast in my case helps a lot while doing cave diving because is retro-illuminated all the time and is fantastic. While diving several times a day guiding clients the CNS/Nitrogen load bar give me a quick view of how I´m doing without start thinking about time, NDL, minutes left etc, the CNS bar is very helpful. Maybe tec is not on your mind yet but you never know, maybe some easy deco dives not very deep but just to enjoy a wreck at 120´ with air as a bottom gas and Nitrox 40 (still recreational limit) to clean the Deco while ascending, of course with the training necessary , is allowed now with the Peregrine and not with a 1200$ computer.
Thanks for your comment, really happy to see you are enjoying the computer, keep diving and keep telling us about your diving experiences.
      Dive safe.
      Aitor

      Hello Antonio!
Thanks for your comment, I was struggling with the idea of going more in detail about the Gradient Factors of the Peregrine and at the end I decided not to explain something this technical on the video, but some people asked me on private and this is what I answer to a couple of them:
The basic decompression algorithm used by the Peregrine is Bühlmann ZHL-16C. It has been modified by the use of Gradient Factors that were developed by Erik Baker. The manufacturer used his ideas to create
their own code to implement it.
The computer implements Gradient Factors creating varied levels of conservatism. The levels of conservatism are pairs of numbers like 30/70. If you haven't read it, have a look to those articles from Erik Baker: “Clearing Up The Confusion About Deep Stops” and “Understanding M-values”.
The default conservatism of the system in all dive modes is medium (40/85).
The system provides settings that are more aggressive and more conservative than the default. So is amazing that you can modify the GF on a so call "recreational computer".
Let me know if you want some more info!

Just made my first dive (cold water / drysuite) with my brand new Peregrine and (coming from a Suunto) really love it!! This is really so much better and user friendly and much easier to watch underwater. And the app is great as well no issues at all with wireless bluetooth connectivity with my Ipad and old iphone7 I really like the graphics when watching it on my ipad and like the way you can easily add all kinds of info...👌👌
I don’t miss anything (yet) but do need to make some additional dives of course for a ‘final verdict’ 😎

      Hi there!!
That's great , I getting a lot of good feedbacks from the Peregrine, the interface is very easy and intuitive and wait to do night dives or dives in very bas visibility conditions, the screen helps a lot to check the info without using. torch or pressing any buttons etc.
Where did you dove for the first time with the Peregrine?? BTW if you check the comments on this video is a couple of them very interesting about the Gradient Factors of the computer.
Have a nice day and enjoy your computer!!

Hi Leo, yeah I didn't mention it on the video because I don't think recreational divers will understand what doesn't means but here we go:
The basic decompression algorithm used by the Peregrine is Bühlmann ZHL-16C. It has been modified by the use of Gradient Factors that were developed by Erik Baker. The manufacturer used his ideas to create
