Bought mine yesterday from Dive Right In Scuba. Very excited to get it, set it up, & dive with it!
I personally have the Perdix, and it's nice to see what options the Perdix has that the Peregrine doesn't.
Three years on, there have been changes to the firmware. I believe you can set each value separately in the smaller combined displays now, and it can contain 3 values per field for a total of 6. At least, it is that way on the Perdix now.
For those wondering, these are the options the Perdix 2 adds over the Peregrine:
- OC TEC (Technical) mode
- CC/BO (Closed Circuit / Bail Out) mode
- Deco planner
- Air integration (AI) up to 4 transmitters, with a Sidemount mode
- Compass (tilt compensated)
The Perdix 2 has a user changeable AA cell. You can use a rechargeable AA battery, but you can't charge it through the body.
just bought this too. stoked. i'm most excited about the vibrating alarms. really really sucks to hear a concert of audible alarms in a group when diving. i'm surprised it's taken this long for DC manufs to realize this.

@@Diverightinscuba , It's freakin incredible!! Love it. Definitely for recreational divers such as myself with a lot of customizable stuff. Especially when compared to other rec specific computers. You guys did a bang up job of getting it to me fast. And thank you for the face covers!! We'll be using them next week in Cozumel

Just made my first dive (cold water / drysuite) with my brand new Peregrine and (coming from a Suunto) really love it!! This is really so much better and user friendly and much easier to watch underwater. And the app is great as well no issues at all with wireless bluetooth connectivity with my Ipad and old iphone7 I really like the graphics when watching it on my ipad and like the way you can easily add all kinds of info...👌👌
I don’t miss anything (yet) but do need to make some additional dives of course for a ‘final verdict’ 😎
And? Any updates? I'm really doubt about purchasing it, as I don't know how important air integration and a digital compass is. Any thoughts so far?
@@tomvanzanten479 for some air integration is important, for others not so much. I never used compass underwater, not needed for type of diving I do. I purchased Peregrine as a backup for my Teric, both excellent DCs. Just returned from scuba trip to Maldives.

i set up mine for GTR and SAC on the bottom left/right page to monitor my consumption always.
Important point, Modes are Air, Nitrox and 3 Gas, NOT 3 Gauge. Tech divers generally use Oxygen, Helium and Nitrogen mixed so that Oxygen remains below 1.4 PPO at depth and Nitrogen is at or below the value for a 40 metre dive. Helium makes up the rest
But that's not the 3 gas mode on the Peregrine. It has 3GasNx, so you can set three Nitrox blends for easy selection, or for diving with multiple gases. Trimix or Helium mixes are only available on the Technical Diving models like the Perdix, Petrel, Teric, and NERD.
Nice review. Would have liked to see if the screen layout is more like OC Tec when you set it to 3 Gas.
Surprised there's no alarm for MOD.
Hope someone makes a NATO strap adapter for this.

There's a depth alarm, so you can set that to the desired value.
You will get a visual MOD alert on your screen when you get close or exceed it.
There are also PPO2 and ascent alerts that will display on the screen.
Can I use a Windows comport to configure the settings on this device?
"the GF is not allowed to be changed in recreational modes" ... then immediately after switches to custom, with editable GF.
Does this mean custom is only settable in tec, or you can use it in rec like with the Perdix and Teric?

A bit late, but yes. In Advanced Setup you can change the values from ft to m and from °F to °C. You can also change the text color I believe.
Will the strap from the PERDIX fit with the Peregrine?
No the PERDIX Strap enters the dive computer through the (4) slots built right into the computer. The Peregrine doesnt have any slot but rather has holes for pins / bungee straps

Does it have TTS (time to surface) option if you want to dive in no deco
It sure does, TTS is displayed in the bottom right while in dive mode
Also, this is not the computer if you want to do deco dives. You need the Perdix or Teric for that.
It will go to deco mode if you violate your NDL, but that's a safety measure to get you back to the surface alive.
Do not dive beyond your training.
Nice review. However mine does not have the "Define Gas" option. Not sure why.
Nevermind. I figured it out. You have to select Nitrox in the system setup first. Then you will have the define gas option.
How do I set it to show me how much time I have left under water?
That will be displayed as NDL

If it’s less than two years old hit up the local shearwater repair center as their warranty and customer service is awesome. I’m sure they can help you out!
If it's older than 2 years, hit them up as well. It's very likely (though not guaranteed) they'll sort you out free of charge.
Shearwater stands behind their products, even after the warranty period.
why does it show max
depth at 274 and mod 107?
The MOD is dependent on the gas mix you choose.
The Max Depth shown here is from the test done at Shearwater. This computer hasn't been dived yet. This shows the dive computer is capable of going down to 274ft.
In recreational diving you'll never get anywhere close to that. 100 to 140ft is the maximum you'll be diving to (depending on your training).
Can we put a transmitter for air on this model ?
No, this is not an Air Integrated version. You would want the Perdix AI for that:

No compass on the Peregrine.
what's mod ppo2?
That is the maximum depth you should go to for that particular ppo2 you are diving. Nitrox 32 is 114 ft. You should have learned that in a nitrox class if you exceed 1.4 ppo you risk a oxygen toxicity hit.
You can set that to what PPO2 value the MOD will be calculated for.
For Air, the MOD at a PPO2 of 1.6 is 66 meters or 218 feet.
At a PPO2 of 1.4, the MOD is 57 meters or 187 feet.
For normal diving, the maximum PPO2 is 1.4.
For deco stops, you can use a PPO2 of 1.6, because you're basically at rest and not swimming.
The recreational dive limits are:
Open Water certification: 18 meters or 60 feet.
Advanced Open Water certification: 30 meters or 100 feet.
Deep Diver certification: 40 meters or 130 feet.
For Open Water, you don't need to worry about PPO2 or MOD. They will be far beyond how deep you're allowed to go.
For Advanced Open Water on air, PPO2 and MOD aren't things you need to worry about either.
Advanced Open Water in combination with Nitrox, PPO2 and MOD only come into play with mixes of 36% oxygen and over (or EAN36 and up), but you need to understand the concepts.
For Deep Diver, a thorough grasp of PPO2 and MOD is a must for all nitrox mixes.
