Warm, cozy and content. That’s what I feel when this lady does what she does. September says it all. Hats off to Wynton . Clifford Brown has smiled upon you. Thanks to CZcams for the platform of yesteryear.
Grew up listening to Sarah Vaughan because she was my mother's favorite. Had the pleasure of seeing her live in Las Vegas in the 70's. Still listen to her today...her music is timeless.
wow......did they nail that, what an excellent example of a perfecto dreamy, jazzy jam, they saved the best for last and shut it down so smooth, breathtaking experience...............................................
if it was only long: they're more accurate than diapason: she could do anything with her voice: the perfect pitch is the most beautiful gift anyone can get..., even there she's older and as time goes by, they tend to lose a bit of accuracy, she wa way better than her gift: have you watched all the black and white video live with her....simply amazing
I love the way Sarah sings this song, this is one of my favorite. I read that she never sang any song the same way twice. Whatever she was feeling she was interpreting. Gotta love that! Always a fresh interpretation.
This version of September Song is much better than the recorded version. Sarah vocal range, interpretation of a song, and manipulation of notes were all so great that I am left in complete amazement. Boy! I wish I had her abilities.
Thanks for posting this. I remember watching this, completely enthralled by Sarah Vaughan's voice. Does anyone have the beginning of this programme, where Sarah Vaughan sings "Body and Soul"? Now that was a rendition to die for.
I use to celebrate September with Art Pepper's version of this wonderful tune, but this is great too! That's the magic of jazz. Thanks to Kurt Weill too
That. That was magnificent. I enjoy how Sarah here, decades after the Clifford Brown recording doesn't drop the virtuosity. The tones roll fluidly. Marsalis is just as sensitive as Brown was on the record and quotes Brown well on the solo. Nice to see this and think about seeing her do the version I know so well in the studio. Thanks for this.
I have this whole concert on VHS. Recorded it off the air. Sarah Vaughan's version of Send In The Clowns is amazing as well. Wynton plays the Arban version of the Carnival of Venice on cornet. He also played the Hummel concerto on Eb trumpet. Great show.
This September Song today November 25,2013 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic remember many years ego in my young ege. I love so much. Beautiful days ego...Ah, the sweet melody "Sarah Vaughan".She is the kind of melody.
Hard to believe this was recorded over 30 years ago. I taped this on VHS when I was a kid trumpet player and played it over and over. Where has the time gone?
I know I'm going to sound really ungrateful...you wouldn't happen to have the beginning of this programme too? To open her segment Sarah Vaughan sings a soaring, operatic version of "Body and Soul", a rendition that informs an age. I have a segment of it on an old cassette tape and I don't know what I'll do when it finally, finally wears out. This, "Autumn Leaves" is simply phenomenal too. Thank you so very much for sharing this beautiful gift.
Happy September, everyone. I used to play this song every September first from an old cassette. Thanks for posting. Sarah Vaughan and Mr. Marsalis. (Hint, it's Vaughan)
Mi vida es completa! I've lived for matter what fate has in store for me it cannot take away the joy I've known. It was Augiust but September will have to do!
Not the best example of Sassy, but who cares - Sarah couldn't make a bad version of any song. The greatest singer of her kind ever known, anywhere. Thanks for uploading.
i think he looks like will smith I don't agree with a previous comment that this version is better than the recorded one in Sarah Vaughan w/ Clifford Brown. They are equally good. In this clip, sarah has a lightspot on her own; in the recorded version, I sarah has a great dynamic with other muscians, and the tone is more compact in structure when compared to what I hear in this clip.
The only constant in my life has been my love for Sarah Vaughan. She moves me like no other
We should marry.
@@janusconner3710 , I want in that marriage! My parents made Sarah a part of my life from birth on.
The greatest American singer we ever had ---
Sarah is just amazing! Thru all those years her voice was perfecection.
Warm, cozy and content. That’s what I feel when this lady does what she does. September says it all. Hats off to Wynton . Clifford Brown has smiled upon you.
Thanks to CZcams for the platform of yesteryear.
sarah was one of the great voices of all time, they dont make them like her anymore....
Ain't that the truth! Just gorgeous instrument and her musicianship was just outstanding too!!
No one ever did it and no one ever will- LIKE SASSY!!! - Beyond category>
Grew up listening to Sarah Vaughan because she was my mother's favorite. Had the pleasure of seeing her live in Las Vegas in the 70's. Still listen to her today...her music is timeless.
How well I remember this concert on PBS!!!!!! Her best rendition of Send In the Clowns!!!!! Love this. Young Wynton on point
❤
what an amazingly beautiful, rich voice
I still get goosebumps when I hear the Divine One sing this song!
The horn gets me. Everytime
Absolutely cannot get better, smoother, cooler than this! Love them both!
Beautiful, True Artists. Simply said. ERIC ❤
This is pure class. The lady sings this song better than I've ever heard, and I love most versions.
What a gal! What a great duet. Thanks for posting.
Perfect for a lovely September morning.
What can I say ? she's the greatest !
pure goosebumps heaven.....miss this kind of music
I loved how Wynton played Clifford’s solo. A nice tribute to the master. What a solo!
I play this version every September. My tape is getting very old. Thank you, no, bless you for posting this. Woohooo... now I can go digital with it.
This is one of the best live performance human kinds ever accomplished.
Sarah's voice raises goose bumps on my skin...so beautiful!!
wow......did they nail that, what an excellent example of a perfecto dreamy, jazzy jam, they saved the best for last and shut it down so smooth, breathtaking experience...............................................
Wish she was more of a notory among the younger generation.
Wow she can hold those notes sooooo long. Marvelous!!!!! Love this song and also Tenderly.
if it was only long: they're more accurate than diapason: she could do anything with her voice: the perfect pitch is the most beautiful gift anyone can get..., even there she's older and as time goes by, they tend to lose a bit of accuracy, she wa way better than her gift: have you watched all the black and white video live with her....simply amazing
and she smoked cigarettes! wow.....her voice, even tho it got deeper....she still was AMAZING!
Just simply AWESOME!
i got to see Ms.Vaughan at Royce Hall at UCLA back in the late 70s. an experience i'll never forget. thx you Ms.Vaughan.
One of the best embellishes one of the best. And Wynton was a beautiful, baby-faced musical genius!
I love the way Sarah sings this song, this is one of my favorite. I read that she never sang any song the same way twice. Whatever she was feeling she was interpreting. Gotta love that! Always a fresh interpretation.
Happy September 2023.
Like you've never heard it before! Dreamy, wistful, perfection!
This version of September Song is much better than the recorded version. Sarah vocal range, interpretation of a song, and manipulation of notes were all so great that I am left in complete amazement. Boy! I wish I had her abilities.
sublime interprétation !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never ever gets old.
absolutely gorgeous...
And an amazing pianist was she too.

Jaw-dropping. How can anyone dislike this?
I have this whole concert on VHS. Recorded it off the air. Sarah Vaughan's version of Send In The Clowns is amazing as well. Wynton plays the Arban version of the Carnival of Venice on cornet. He also played the Hummel concerto on Eb trumpet. Great show.
Gonna defenitley get a copy of this concert, thanks, stay young
I was going to say thing about Send in the Clowns. I wish someone would upload it, because it was simply amazing.
I'll see what I can do...
Wow. Wow. And wow.
This September Song today November 25,2013 in Santo Domingo,
Dominican Republic remember many years ego in my young ege.
I love so much. Beautiful days ego...Ah, the sweet melody "Sarah
Vaughan".She is the kind of melody.
Hard to believe this was recorded over 30 years ago. I taped this on VHS when I was a kid trumpet player and played it over and over. Where has the time gone?
For it's a long, long time .....
@Shufei Around 1984 or 1985, I believe.
Exact same as me. 14 year old trumpet player hearing Wynton for the first time and wore out my vhs recording of it. What an epic performance.
I know I'm going to sound really ungrateful...you wouldn't happen to have the beginning of this programme too? To open her segment Sarah Vaughan sings a soaring, operatic version of "Body and Soul", a rendition that informs an age. THIS IS WNDERFUL. Love Sassy, with Wynton!
This Wynton guy is simply a magician.. great.
Bellissimo brano...che eleganza!
To quote one of my favorite comedians Phil Hartman ........ "Delicious"
WOW, WOW, WOW.!!!!!!
That is so fine.
I saw this when it first aired. Yes, I am bragging. I listen to it every September first.
I love the Sarah handles this song. I love that Marselis kissed her before the song.
thanks for posting this. i saw it many years ago and always wanted to see it again. briliant!
Only one, “Sarah Vaughan!!!”
You are correct. Wynton's solo is taken from Brownie's solo.
Yes. A wonderful duo!
John Williams had an ear for perfection
Superb violin solo! Great playing!
Absolutley beautiful. But, my favorite will always be: Send In The Clowns. Rest In Peace, Miss Vaughan.
Dos genuinos monstruos del jazz intemporal.
Yes,yes, yes !!!!...Sassy doin' her thang !...thank for the post !
This isn't simply a song it's a pop ARIA that morphs n2 a religious experience!!
Happy September, everyone. I used to play this song every September first from an old cassette. Thanks for posting. Sarah Vaughan and Mr. Marsalis. (Hint, it's Vaughan)
IMO, this the best september song version.
Daan Harsya Sarah Vaughan plus Clifford Brown is better IMO.
Daan Harsya I think Wynton has the same opinion as he plays the complete Clifford's improvisation
Mi vida es completa! I've lived for matter what fate has in store for me it cannot take away the joy I've known. It was Augiust but September will have to do!
this is chilling...
Goose bumps!!!
A very tasty choice. Thanks 4 posting.
GOATS 😻😅😅😅
I love how wynton plays cliffords original solo
Wow! Beautiful!
Awesome! Sassy rules!
Not the best example of Sassy, but who cares - Sarah couldn't make a bad version of any song. The greatest singer of her kind ever known, anywhere. Thanks for uploading.
Thanks for posting. It's so clear.
Que placer, es una gran versión diría que insuperable.
Wonderful song!! & Both are amazing musicians..!!!
Grandes artistas todos..¡gran cantante!
Wonderful!
She had a tone and. Pitch better than all
If I had to pick one - if I HAD to pick just ONE - I suppose she’d be Sarah Vaughan.
Beautiful song and performance! It's a pity the volume is so low...
This is the correct version
3:20 check out his incredible C# bend to D. I love this performance.
Brigadin querida! Maravilhosa sempre nossa Diva Sarah Vaughan.
at 3.12 Clifford Brown is there !
wow
I hope this audience was aware of the privilage they were given.
me gusta esto para una amiga en miami
Obra maestra
Marsalis ripete pari pari il solo di Clifford Brown in un disco Mercury degli anni '50 con Sarah ed altri
He doesn't just quote Brown's solo. He plagiarises it!!!!! Still wonderful though.
Clifford's solo verbatim!
+Stephen Schwab ...that's what i was thinking.....excellent pairing of the two.....
the way she shakes...
@TheJazzSwings pardon, his bend from c to c#
I'm not exactly sure, but I think it is from about 1984.
i think he looks like will smith

Sarah is always incredible..Wynton...not even close to Clifford Brown...RIP...
Wynton was better!
It's Vaughan.
