    This is a re-upload - YT video processing seems to have affected sound/video synch in the last part of the video. The source video has no problems, but unfortunately, a re-upload hasn't fixed the issue, so this will remain as is.
    Enjoy!

    This game was the main reason I bought my Amiga 500 - I just loved all the sweet colours of this game. Though I've never seen the CD32 version until now! :) It looks great!
    The musical arrangement is very impressive and great to hear these tunes in high quality stereo, especially the "James Pond" guitar theme (3:28). Although I always thought that particular tune was a little too dark and mysterious for a cute and cuddly game, and I wouldn't have used it in Robocod. (It worked better in James Pond 3 which was less colourful and a bit more serious.)
    As for the main Robocod tune, it does sound great here (18:10), though I think the production is a bit too heavy and "big" for this extremely simple platform game. In many ways I preferred the lighter, more basic arrangement of the original. The original was also far more rhythmical, with those short echoey notes, which I miss.
    It's also a shame that the two other main Robocod tunes have been completely dropped from the CD32 version - those tunes were a big part of the game for me, bringing to mind candy floss and cakes, and I don't think you can just cut them out like that! Though on the other hand, I do really like the new tune that's been added in (10:37).
    As for the new intro cartoon - it's way too "James Bond" and not "Robocop" enough, which makes the beginning feel a little disjointed to the actual game.
    No idea why I'm reviewing a 25-year-old game like it matters… but hey ho! :)

    Wow that cartoon in the beginning is really slick. I love the style, it feels like a Rocky and Bullwinkle short or something~

    I absolutely love the soundtrack, the best Ive heard of any James Pond-game. Does the Amiga CD have the music on tracks, making it playable on a normal CD player (except first track, of course)? For if it is, then Im going to get this game, for the music alone!!

  • @Emulous79

  • @AL82RetrogamingLongplays

    Yes, Richard Joseph did a great job. Incidentally, I think that there are a couple of tracks that feature on the original disk version that didn't get a full Redbook remastering for the CD32 version.

  • @AndrewO83
    @AndrewO83 Před 6 lety +2

    Those items at the start on the castle roof outside, if I remember it correctly it spelt out something if you got them in the right order and gave you a level select or something.

    • @AL82RetrogamingLongplays
      @AL82RetrogamingLongplays  Před 6 lety +3

      Difford the first letters of the items spell the word CHEAT - you get invulnerability for collecting them in the right order 😁

    • @AndrewO83
      @AndrewO83 Před 6 lety

      Haha! That's right! That's awesome! Thanks for that. I thought it was WORLD, but then I saw the hammer and knew that was wrong. Then I thought is it alphabetically you pick up the items.
      Anyways thanks again! Good memories :)

    • @ryszardadamus4241
      @ryszardadamus4241 Před 6 lety

      I always taking them, never thought that there is CHEAT hidden. Never thought about these items, treat them as additional points only. The set of items are respawning later in the game, after first or second doors. You can take additional lives or stars, they will appear on roof after some condition fullfiled.
      With cheat the music becomes annoying.
      I am pretty sure there is additional secret in castle level - there is weak floor max. on the right near two gold figures - I noticed it before fighting last boss, great snowman but the entry was still blocked by yellow brick. I was there too late or didn't fulfill something.

    • @beezle1976
      @beezle1976 Před 5 lety

      There's also P.O.W.E.R, although I cant actually remember the items each letter stands for, or where this group is located.
      Been a long while since I played this game properly (although I did check out the impressive for the system, Sega Master System version recently, which minus the color gradient in the background is very, very similar to the A500 version. It does have parallax scrolling, its just not the same color gradient).

    • @ryszardadamus4241
      @ryszardadamus4241 Před 5 lety

      Non of these cheats are working on AGA version. The items are there but has no cheat functionality.

    Used to love playing this and I wish it would come to Playstation 4, do they still make Penguin chocolate bars? I remember some of the levels being hard so I keyed in a code to keep his shield on to avoid dying.

    1:00 The opening movie plays and it says James Pond 3. I don't get it? And I was hoping the opening short would explain more of the bizarre story around RoboCod and all the crap at the north pole or why James Pond now has robo arms. Fascinating and weird game

  • @AL82RetrogamingLongplays

    I believe you need to be running at max speed up and down the slopes so that you fly out the end of the tunnel and straight across to the right. I was playing this semi-blind, so I didn't know about the entrance till too late.

  • @ryszardadamus4241
    @ryszardadamus4241 Před 6 lety

    Finishing twin boss seems like a fluke - it is a hardest part of this game for me, can't find the proper way to finish them without loosing life (whole credit).
    Besides the extra levels You can achieve from third roof to the left, the castle level has many other secrets and i don't say about items which can appear on first or second roof. There is other additional bonus level hidden, or a plane You can fly with. These bonuses activates only after particular doors has been closed.
    The circus level has probably screwed additional secret - czcams.com/video/oRUHNNLZl1g/video.html - on the left there are other items underground i can't find the entry. The button doesn't open the area.
    EDIT: level after 1:45:10 is not on regular amiga game.
