I watched it again this Christmas with my brother and I'm amazed how fucking good this movie still is. I pretty much never laugh at comedy in movies, but the Sassafrass scene when JB's floating down the river made me legit laugh out loud. Also every single song, the story, the characters, everything is perfect.
“Satan’s not in a guitar pick. He’s inside all of us. Right here. In your hearts.”. I know it’s a bit of a throwaway line in the whole skit but, but I lose it every time, thanks to the perfect delivery.
I personally think Tenacious D won that, just because of how Jack made "Your sorry ass" and "Now it's time to blow this fucker dow-ow-own" sound, it was beyond perfect

I am the youngest by a fair bit and this was years ago, but this movie holds a soft spot due to that memory alone. And the fact it’s fucking epic music helped!

Tenacious D wasn't alone that night, God sent his hardest rocking angels to help defeat the devil on his own terms.
The first time ever learning about Tenacious D was when I watched this movie for the first time and I can't tell you.. I lost my fucking shit when the devil started to manifest and then proceeded was the most legendary battle with the devil.. my favorite part of this though is probably when the devil points his middle finger after saying "yes you are fucked" and just blasts them with a huge fucking force of air LMAO
Since Lucifer was an all powerful arch angel I imagine that he could take the form of whatever he wanted and he chose a form that would look terrifying to humans.
I think Beelzeboss might be the 'best song in the world' from Tribute, at least in the HBO series version. In both songs, JB and KG face a 'shiny demon' that says he will kill them/'eat their souls'. They have to play a song to him, JB challenging him/the demon telling them to 'play the best song in thr world'. And because of a 'demon code' 'that demons have to live by' he cannot go on with what he wanted, 'declining a rock off challenge'/ apparently going back in a challenge. In both songs the demon disagrees with them and tries to do what he wanted in the first place. In Beelzeboss he says they're lame and tries to take KG to hell anyways, and in Tribute he gets pissed because they actually played the best song in the world and tries to kill them both. And in both clips the demon loses to JB by reflecting his curse/wrestling him and shooting a fireball at him. And as JB says, the song they played on 'that fateful *night'* didn't sound anything like Tribute
