Hopelessly Hoping was a track on the CSN 1969 album Crosby, Stills & Nash, and it was written by Stephen Stills. Neil Young and Stills were once bandmates in Buffalo Springfield. Young made no contribution to the writing of the song and he only played guitar on this track. They briefly became Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young for their next album, Déjà Vu, 1970. That was the only time they went by that name.

This is actually a folk song. Do NOT confuse Crosby Stills or Nash as some country yokels. Country artists will never achieve this level of greatness.

@1hu I just happened to be drinking in a bar in my home town decades ago. It was a country bar this chick insisted on going to. Turns out a 16 year old Shania Twain was playing there that night. She's about the only country artist I could stomach. She wasn't bad for a yokel.

Too bad the blend on their official recordings are not quite as good as how they sound on the show. They are meant to have three part harmony, not a lead and two backups. Don’t get me wrong. I love them and how their singles turned out is not their fault. Perhaps they themselves will have more say in future mixes.

@dianawise203 We would be wise to suspend our criticism here. My understanding is that with the "official recordings" on The Voice, they had very limited time in the studio, and very few takes (from a GNT interview long after the show.) Not a lot of time for finessed production. Having followed GNT closely since their time on The Voice, and having seen them five times live-in-concert, I can say with confidence that they are not a three-part harmony trio without a lead singer all of the time. Before, during, and after The Voice, each one of them have been lead vocalists on different songs, with the other two singing back-up. Nice variety. More often than not, Bekah is the lead singer; however, Josh and Caleb are also really good on certain songs. Multi-talented: great singers, multi-instrumentalists, excellent stage performers, very engaging with the audience. In 2024, they've stopped touring for a while to write and produce music on their terms! Stay tuned....
And the buzz in the background of the official release is TERRIBLE

@tomc5803 This seems to be standard practice with The Voice. I watched the show consistently from Season 8 to Season 21, and it always seems to happen. Two years later, The Voice pulls the plug on almost all videos. It's their show and they must own the videos. It's frustrating for sure! I miss seeing some of my favorites from prior seasons. It's up to The Voice's contestants and winners to continue posting content and maintain a strong social media presence so that their Voice fans can keep up with them. Fortunately, Girl Named Tom has a lot of CZcams content online, so we can hear many of the songs they performed on the show: PLUS, they have performed almost 200 concerts in about 40 states since winning The Voice. I have seen them five times live-in-concert since The Voice and they just keep getting better and better!
I wish the judges would not talk and wow over top of performances! Sometimes you can t hear the artist at all.

With more popular support and the right coach. They quite literally had their local communities behind their back including their alma mater. It just worked out for them. Sometimes winning the voice takes more than just one's talent, but also their appeal.
