Texas has absolutely no problem with registration now as of 2020.
That's why I love Texas!
I did it in 2019
I live in Texas and are looking for a basic truck for local home improvement hauling.
Friendship!
As a former 91 army mechanic buy a h1 over the humvee.
Never buy a humvee lol
Marines are using the same hand me downs.. when I think of the humvee. First thing that comes to mind is Inop-Degraded or Deadlined!
And buy stock in whatever company it is that makes those goddamn glowplugs.
not everyone has 100k to spend dude...
@@POTFULLOFGREEN Then you have to save money right! 😝
Being from Arizona the off-road trails here are endless. I think both H1's and Humvee's are becoming collectors items. During the production years I think only about 12,000 H1's were built and who knows how many of those are still on the road or even in the country. On the same note a nicely built H1 with a Duramax conversion will easily push you over $100K including the purchase price of the rig. As capable as they are it's not something you want to bash up on the trail. Get a cheaper Humvee from gov planet and use that for conquering the trails and have the best of both worlds.
May I ask if the humvee from govplanet are functional? Ori does it require repairing?
@@fullmetalwajakensis5443 Most of the trucks are complete. The descriptions on the gov planet website are very thorough. Most of the listings have video clips where you can hear it run and see the gauges for RPM, oil pressure and so on. They try to do their best to describe the vehicle in detail. As far as needing repairs go they will tell you if it drives correctly. They won't know the in-depth mechanical condition of the vehicle. For example, if the ball joints are worn out they won't know that and then that is something you will need to do. These were designed for the military so they made them repairable in the field. These are actually fairly easy to work on. Much easier than their domesticated H1 counterparts. Hope that helped.
I kinda think the big difference you didn't really talk about enough was price. One is like Humvees are like 10k-30k and H1 Hummers are 80k on the low side, most are well over 100k. If you have the money to think about an H1 vs a Humvee then throwing 50k at upgrades to a 30k vehicle is not an issue. You get what you want and are still cheaper than the H1. I'm sure someone makes better doors for Humvees considering how popular they are and how many are being retired and auctioned off to civilians.
Unfortunately no on the doors. We have yet to see anything of quality. So there are still h1's that need work for the 20 to 40k range. No mater what, your going to put money into each unless your buying a fully restored hmmwv for 80 to 100k plus or an h1 in the 80k range. End of the day, you can easily have about the same amount of money into both.
Yo, Predorinc is wrong, there are doors all over the web that are decent... seems like they are just trying to push their products in this vid...
@@PredatorInc EV convert it then it gets round any DoT emission laws that they are exempt from, also being EV can be legally argued H1 or Hummer never made those at them points in time thus becomes something more accepting in public etc... The right words used in the right way are the key to getting them on the roads....
Bought mine instead of a side by side. The only thing I would add to my Hmmwv is CTIS. Other than that nothing. Never mind, $7,000 grand. My great running M-1123 was only $9,600 I'll bring a compressor. No foofoo for my rig🍻🇺🇸
I really liked this realtalk video. Thanks for taking your time. Up to this video I also thought they were the same - just before GM purchased the brand.
Keep it up!
The H1 and the humvee slant back are both my dream trucks, thank you very much for this video It helped me out alot with the way i want to go. Keep up the amazing work love the videos.
I would like to have Humvee slant back too. ❤️
Id take those and if it was made the hx as well.
Best breakdown I've seen yet, great presentation on the reality of making a huge mistake with the humvi. U.S. Gulf War/Desert Storm 1990/94.
Up armored HMMVEE are awesome for off roading, until you get stuck. We had an SSG that got one stuck in some slick clay, and we had to painstakingly guide a 5-ton backwards through the woods to hook up to it. Once it was there, it was pulled out easily.
But other than that, we had a blast running some through some trails.
Getting Emissions can be a pain too. In Colorado you can get it done at a few places if you have a 17 digit VIN and have a 2-wheel transfer case like Predator sells.
This is great information
My dream rig is a slant back H1
Thank you for not only the comparison but for your Duramax exchange.
I was in USAF in Europe up to mid 80's. I liked the truck, complete upgrade from the Chevy diesel trucks we patrolled in. But that engine would give you a headache from the constant engine drown, we never shut them off except to refuel.
Very informative and would rather have one of your H1 Predators than a supercar.
Thanks so much for your comments but especially your service to our great nation! 🙏🙏🙏

This is amazing content that needed to be shared! Thanks for the awesome video!
i see so many people confusing the two, another great video.
I always loved these vehicles watching in the videos, today learnt a lot about these vehicles through your videos. Subscribed.
I love the way you explain everything in detail.
Thanks so much and thanks for watching!
…. Humvee for a beater
& H1 for stylish lifestyle…..
Very Informative, subscribed
Thanks for subscribing! Appreciate you!!!
Also note the half-shaft differences. 12k vs 10k. If off-roading it's ideal to upgrade to the 12k. AC is another major difference, pro and con sometimes.
My M1152 has the 12k drivetrain and suspension, plus factory AC
Awesome explanation between the two trucks!!
You answered a lot of my questions..
great content as usual 💪🏻
Rad, thanks for watching and for your feedback!
Thx for explaining the details! 😎👍
Thanks for watching!
I sold vehicles at GMC , Cadillac, Pontiac dealer back from 2001 to 2011 and would tell the factory reps “Y’all need to slap the Duramax into the H2! It would kick @ss!!”
Here in Sarasota Florida we see H1/Humvee's everyday being driven on the roads...! We also get passed by multiple kinds of exotic cars on a daily basis as well...! Thanks for the stories... Keep up your awesomeness and go enjoy some nature today...
I love my Predator 1999 H1, but that HMMWV in the blog is SWEET !!!
It's always great to hear you're loving your Predator built H1!! And we definitely agree with you on the HMMWV.
Thanks for watching the channel!
OK OK I get it Ryan a Humvee can be very expensive to upgrade and maintain a better option would be to buy a $250,000 H1 from you guys right? LOL.
Trust me I’d love to! But if one of these is ever in my driveway unfortunately it probably won’t be a Hummer 😢
Great videos keep them coming! 🤙🏼
Depends on what you want to do with it. I use my Humvee for heavy duty work and other work related things. If I wanted to speed bump crawl and look cool, I would just take the shit out of the back of my Humvee..lol. Applications really depend. I have the "everyone and their mother" has a Jeep, H2 ,97 Grand Cherokee 5.9 and a CRV AWD..lol-Really depends on what you plan to do with it.
Great video; very informative! I purchased a 2000 HMMWV from govplanet last year. I went a totally different direction with my HMMWV. I wanted the looks, and I didn't care about the off-roading (I have a Bronco for that). What I really wanted was a HMMWV that I could drive at interstate speeds, so that's what I built. I'm sure my fellow Hummer/HMMWV lovers would consider this sacrilegious, but I put my HMMWV body on a custom built one-ton 2WD chassis. Since my HMMWV had a blown engine, I used a big-block Ford 472 to power it. I also designed/fabricated an entirely new "wagon-style" roof with a 5-inch chop. I built a set of custom doors which was an insane amount of work. I kept the rest of the body stock and I kept the spartan, utilitarian feel of the interior, although I did make a new dash. Long story short- I put a crazy amount of work in it, but I did it my way, and there are hardly any HMMWVs or Hummers that have been "hot-rodded" I love driving this HMMWV. I have been fortunate to build a lot of nice cars, but this thing gets more attention than anything I have ever built before. I am getting close to having it finished, and I can't wait. On the registration issue- well, I live in Missouri. The tag agency didn't like the SF-97 but went ahead and gave me my registration. With that being said, that was two months ago and I haven't received my title yet, so the jury is still out on that. Worse case scenario, they rescind my registration and I title it as a component built vehicle. I've probably already killed any collectible value to this HMMWV so what's the big deal in having a component built title? We shall see! I really like your videos and your shop's work. Keep up the great work!
Sounds like a fun build!!! Send over pics when you get a chance. Thanks!!
How did you register it and where did you register it at?
Love you guys show and work , keep it up , hopefully I can afford the duramax in my humvee soon , God Bless
Thanks Rob!!!
The humvee is one of my dream vehicles... that thing is niiiice.
Love this video. I never liked the hummer h1 interior. It always looked weird. The plan B dash looks good but I like the mil speck dash. Easy to fix and clean.
Any chance on making a ctis conversion video using 100% military surplus parts? This is the only upgrade I want to do on my truck.
Thanks for the education
Thanks for watching!
Get a salvage title. Works...... Nice video.
I love the honesty you guys bring to your videos. Obviously, you guys could just take advantage of people and have them pay the ridiculous prices to convert. It's good to see that y'all don't.
Sometimes, the money isn't worth the headaches and loss of job numbers per month. Plus, the price would be a deal killer for most people. Possible? Yep. Achievable? Yep. Worth it? Nope.
I also appreciate their honesty. A crappy shop would say they would do it. It would be half-assed, subpar, and borderline fraud. They ARE out there.
Well, their hummers do sell for about $200k so I don't think this video was made from the kindness of their heart
Honesty!?... what!?... I've been a military mechanic for about 18 years... and what they are saying is a little bias... well, a lot bias!... lmao!...
I want to do a street legal humvee. Was was planning on keep it open. linex everything inside and out. Led headlights and off road lights. New water proof seats. Putting marine JL audio speakers , amp and a marine fusion stereo. I want to able to course it around and take it off road. Just be able to hose it out. Has any one done anything similar? What problems am I going to run into. I’m in florida and see humvee’s on the road. What troubles will the 24 volt system give me??
How often do ambulance versions become available?
Nice info
👍
I live in the state that makes them I live about 20 mins from the factory I go by it everyday when I go to south bend. I've always wanted one of the medical trucks that they make there.
hi what u think about ls1.5 350hp in petrol engine in 1995 haummer h1
Spot on. I run the wheels off my M998 and love it. But it shines off road and is a raw rough hard riding machine on the street. We run is so hard off road that I wouldn’t want a nice H1 off road. But on road…it leaves so much to desire where an H1 is smooth.
Thanks so much. Tried to be as direct as possible. Love the fact you offroad as much as you do. They are beasts!!!

Got my M1165A1 titled in SC no problem with a SF97 from govplanet. It’d be nice to do a walk around on what you did to the Humvee. Looks like jack rails wheels tires and you said duramax.

This is great information. I thought they were the same👍👍
Glad it was helpful!
I have a HMMWV and a title in Massachusetts, any advice regarding when it comes time to register it?
Unsure about Massachusetts laws but you could look at registering out of state like Montana.
they come off the same assembly line at amgeneral .. except the h1 goes on to get the civilian interior mods and has the turbocharged engine by default..
Bob Homme county South Dakota. They will register your humvee through the mail. I spent months trying to figure out how to make it work in CA and all it took to get it done in the end was a phone call and mailing the paperwork. Got my plates and registration in a couple weeks and the title about a month after that. Super easy.
That's great!
So you live in California but have it registered in South Dakota? Do you also own another home in South Dakota?
@@omarvilla7476 nope
Glad you set the record straight this man is trying to discourage people so they can spend money with him
Then there’s me building mine from scratch out of a GMC Sierra k2500 350 sbc 5.7 Hurst promatic 3 speed. Ben ten years and this fall she’ll finally be on the road. Lots of vids of build and paperwork process getting done. Look forward to sharing with the community, I receive lotta mixed feelings. (See my videos)
I named it the GMC RHINO because it’s not an h1 or a hummer
I love that H1 I know it is an amazing machine. I just can't help but wish it fit into a parkingnspace at grocery store easier.
It's funny to think about but I've been looking at a Humvee for quite a while now.
That is a nice Humvee. I guess its the traditionalist brain thinking, but I’d pick that over the H1. I drove them a lot, especially over at Camp Red Cloud, South Korea (604th ASOCS). I’m a bit confused with your comparison of the H1 to the Humvee, because we had the CTIS on our rigs. Likewise with our 5-ton trucks.
As we stated in the vlog some military humvee can equipped with CTIS but it's was a small percentage
I would like to get a humvee an get a 5.9 12 valve in it ! Get some good doors an sound proof interior ac/heat an daily drive that beast !
Anything is procurable. The only part that seems to be a stumbling block is the CTIS solenoid block. You can get better doors than the x box doors (that's what i call them) :)
So, I legitimately didn't hear any statements with enough weight to stop me from purchasing, modifying and DOT titling a Humvee. What I did hear is, give us half a million dollars and we'll give you one of our already built H1's. Hhmmm, let' see, GovPlanet has Humvees starting at $4 grand, that are in very rough condition, and I could take the half million dollars and build a rig myself the way I want and title it. Hhmmm, sorry your sales pitch didn't convince me at all, I'm building my Humvee myself and titling it myself. Interesting vid, yall make some awesome, awesome Hummers, top notch work. Keep em chugging boys!
I dont think you fully watched the vlog. It was not a sales pitch. First, you won't find a hmmwv for 4k. Second, you can not make the hmmwv dot legal. 3rd, we never discussed pricing, 500k builds etc. What was conveyed was that many people buy them thinking they are going to turn them into hummers and save a ton of cash. The purpose of the video is to inform people on the differences between a hmmwv and an h1 and help them put realistic expectations on their purchase.
@@PredatorInc Understood, my comment is more satirical than anything, still like your company, yall do awesome work. If a potential customer has $500K or $250K and they don't know a lick about H1's and Humvees and all they want to do is look cool like the Terminator, then yes those potential customers need not purchase a Humvee, they can just purchase Teslas. Otherwise great vid, great company.
Who wears the 7 verticals crown? Hummer or jeep?
I’m not a mechanic it would probably break down the first day you buy it they were used a lot by the military
But I would love one
Im in the military and can confirm. Humvees are literal pieces of shit.
I'm curious about where do you get parts for the Humvee?
We are an authorized am general dealer so most everything comes direct from the factory.
My dream truck is a 2006 Hummer H1 Alpha I just wish I could afford to buy one and have the predator team fit with a lots of arftermarket parts from predator, mod mafia and rubber duck 4x4 a upgraded LMM engine, a performance catalytic converter and diesel particulate filter a full 4 inch exhaust system, some few one off custom parts some of the mods may not be 50 state legal but I like in the UK so thats not really a problem.
you said it yourself. the Humvee is the predecessor. so even tho General called it the H1 the Humvee is the original H1. but if you are building it as a overland rig with matching trailer as a camper, which was always my dream to do, it is a fantastic rig. lets be honest the H1 is a pavement prowler. it is exactly like the idiots now running massive wheels on a 4x4 with no tire rubber . it is a waste of a 4x4 . all these people want is something that "looks cool" driving around. i have seen several people here where i live in Louisiana driving Humvee's around as daily drivers. now with the price of gas being what it is, you need a deep bank account just for that. it is almost the same thing i suggested to Toyota when getting my Sequoia serviced. take a 4runner send out for a crap ton of aftermarket parts. kit it up. and stick it on the lot. i guarantee it will sell. the overland and off roading community has picked up drastically over the last few years. with the expertise you guys have with the platform it would be kind of bad ass to see you build one out with the right mindset for over landing and tough track. i know of some guys who do just that. they will buy a truck build it up and sell it. i believe it would be an interesting build.
What if I just want one to knock around on the ranch? I shouldn’t need any sort of registration.
fun fact here on mexico the army buys the hummves without doors
I'm interested in a Humvee to do my own conversion on. All I'm looking for is the frame, body, engine (will be replaced eventually). I want to do my own fabrication and design. I'm looking for a two door in excellent condition to bring to Ontario Canada. I just don't know where to start.
You could check ebay to start. I'm sure there are a few on there. Maybe autotrader or even craigslist. Good luck!
the difference between the hummer and the humvee is that the hummer is pretty badass and the humvee is very badass.
Are you guys also selling the Humvee or Humvee's in general? Or are you only specialised in H1's?
Only H1's currently. Thanks for watching!
Is maryland one of those states that allows a humve in any way ??
In some states you can register it as a kit car though. Especially if you've done a conversion because then you can make the argument that it is truly something the government didn't produce from a uniqueness. Stand point it is a kit vehicle
Do the vehicles share the same chassis, suspension, transmission, what about engines, body?
Yes, almost identical with a number of minor changes and some improvements on late model hmmwvs post the 2006 alpha.
I see Humvees in California with out of state plates, usually Utah or Montana. So whats the problem?
CHP will tag the plate and Sacramento sends out a demand to that state for proof of ownership. If the owner is tracked back to California then ca dmv makes the demand for taxes and registration to be paid by the owner. Once that happens they then cancel registration for onroad use because it does not meet dot regulations. It's kinda like a person who moves into the state and fails to immediately transfer registration to California.
@@PredatorInc they'll do it for humvee? I thought that's only for expensive cars 150k+ with out of state plates
Your competitor says you're lying and that you're a bunch of crook thieves! Can you defend yourself or your reputation?
Yes, 100%. Watch our vlog on the Fraud $40,000 Hummer. It outlines a fraudulent companies attempt to discredit us. Further we have several vlogs where multiple truck owners brought their trucks to us and we literally found this hack company using zipties to hold the brakes together! Absolutely shocking!
What if u buy a humvee on fb or Craigslist that was titled as a on road truck with insurance and registration and plate will u have problem transferring it over in ur name and get a new plate and insurance
Depends on your state. If it's California they probably won't give you, as the new owner, a street legal title upon transfer. Other states have flat out removed titles.
Ny was no problem
I would love to buy one and drive them around on the road. But in Florida you can't register to drive it on the road. I won't buy it to drive it off road, when you can get a side by side or a 4 wheeler.
Yep Florida's cracking down on ex-military vehicles. I had to take my 5 ton MTV down and have the inspector look at it and make sure I didn't change anything on the truck from the way it came from the military. Then I was issued a former military tag to use on the road but it's just like an antique tag it's minimal use parades shows not everyday use.
When I finished building my humvee, my. 6.5 diesel non turbo was screaming at 50-60 mph and this nice H1 just flew past me. Do H1s have different gearing?
Do you have a 3 speed?

That's great! One of the last few states you can register it in. It's really too bad most states won't allow them to be registered.
@PredatorInc that's so not true.... there is a few states that you can't, but most you can. You just need to have the correct paperwork before registering. It's an affidavit from the court house showing thats its DOT legal i.e. headlights, break, muffler ext... seems like your pushing an agenda with your video to buy an H1 witch is far less superior than an M998 or similar.
H1 ❤️
Are you saying that even after I have a titled Humvee M998 registered in Florida, they could revoke it on me?
No, that's currently only california that we know of. Florida titles are apparently only for special events such as car shows and trips to the repair centers. Catch is, every trip out in Florida "could be" a trip to the service station.
I spoke to my car dealer in Florida and to the motor vehicle department in my County in Florida and there was no mention on any driving restrictions if I buy the Humvee and register it. The one I am buying is already title and tagged in Idaho. @@PredatorInc
Always consider the source and their possible motives when watching anything...
Great point! As we cater to both the hmmwv and h1 we are unbiased in our vlog and gave details unique to both vehicles. Thanks for watching
I have a question. How do the officials of Cali (and other states?) argue to hinder people from surplus humvees? I know that You can still have a 5 Ton truck that is bigger and could do way more "damage".
Even in my country (Ger ma ny) we can drive imported humvees.
There is a very special thing about that humvee "matter".
Hmmwvs are not dot legal. States have an obligation to keep the roads safe with legal vehicles. For example atvs are not designed for roadways and are not safe. The early model hmmwvs had an inferior e brake, no transmission park and a few other items technically making them unsafe to other motorists. They kind of fall into a grey area between something like an atv and a dot legal h1. Many states are siding on caution and simply outlawing them.
@@PredatorInc I understand.
I wish you guys were more open about your pricing! I contacted you for a build and I couldn’t get a straight answer on price.
Who have you spoken with? Pricing can vary greatly depending on the platform, its condition, and your requirements and desires for the build.
just buy both
In my opininion, the humvee is much cooler due to it's raw and basic features. Yes, an H1 is much more refined than a hmmwv, but the H1 is still in the running for the least refined passenger vehicle ever produced. Adding all those "features" makes the H1 ~2,000 pounds heavier than a basic hmmwv, it's hard to even comprehend that. The CTIS is cool (but unreliable), but the rest of the features are just fat in my eyes. Very few people buy either of these vehicles to daily drive, they both cool but impractical collectables. Water leaks, noise, lack of stereo and cup holders, etc. is the raw essence of the hmmwv, obviously not for everyone. I see a lot of folks buying hmmwv's and putting bling wheels, stereos, interiors, and nice paint jobs on them. More power to them if that's what they like, but I cringe when I see some of these things. I personally have zero interest in an H1, but putting a duramax in my m1123 is the one modern upgrade I may consider some day.
I'm a kind would convert H1 into Humvee, like them so much better.
Funny, before the hmmwv was released that's what alot of people did!
Save yourself 12 minutes. If you want a fancy interior buy an H1. If you want something just to off road or crush a Prius buy a Humvee
Buy almost any jeep up to the 2000's and go more places for a fraction of the price, with a lot less maintenance
Haha, coming from someone that has experience with an H1?!?! How much was your maintenance bill with your h1 vs your your jeep? Which exact trails did you not make in your h1 that you did in your jeep? I get that haters gonna hate but at least create some bs that sounds half way believable.
I have a 1989 army humvee with the factory camo color. The truck has 4,900 miles and I don't want to pass 5k miles, everything on it is original
Congrats!!!!
@@PredatorInc I appreciate it. I got it in 2018 and I still have it and I won't sell unless someone offers me a million lol, but fr I won't sell it for anything because I want my dream garage
The interior of the military version looks cleaner/nicer. Timeless design.
Problem is H1 is way too expensive, I’d rather buy a Jeep. Hmmvee problem is you can only register it for road use in 30 States even if it’s already converted for road use. California, Arizona, Nevada and others will not register them.
How much is that hummV that you’re standing next to.
It's not for sale. Sorry
@@PredatorInc do you ever have any like that for sale
Illinois you can get a title for a humvee.
So I can ride a bicycle and weave around through traffic like an idiot but I can't convert a military vehicle. What should we expect from government really?
Just depends on your state government. In Ohio we can title no problem. Meanwhile, in Michigan you can’t -it’s realllllllllll dumb
I’m in Michigan well great thanks for sharing I can’t register this such a heartbreaking thing
No problem registering HMMWV as antiques in Virginia.
That's great. Are there any limitations to driving them? Here in Florida were only allowed to register as historical which limits us to only select on road driving like a car show or repair shop drive.
The humvee is like 8 times cheaper, the h1s go for 100-150, some even 200,
And some h1's go for 40k. It's all relative to what your buying. Thanks for watching!
I only want it so I can be "that guy" XD "why is this man driving a military vehicle on the highway?" cuzz why not xD
