Death Stranding - Farming Chiral Crystals 5000 at a Time

- Farming 5000 Chiral Crystals per Boss Fight. Need to be playing on Very Hard setting to get bosses to drop this amount but not that difficult once you learn their attacks and stay out of the tar. Usually about a 3-4 minute rest period to restock your weapons etc. before the next round starts.
I chose the Old Volcano Observatory site for farming as you can simply stay on that rock outcrop and take on all 3 lions without having to slog through the tar as in other locations. After each round, I'll put my empty weapons in the private locker of a nearby safehouse and grab fresh weapons and blood bags from the same private locker. Wait between 3 and 4 minutes and the BT's will respawn and off you go again for another 5000 crystals. Repeat until you have whatever amount of crystals you desire (up to 99,999 max).
While rocket launchers are effective, you can only use them once, a major drain on materials to fabricate new ones for each round. Use refillable weapons such as rifles, shotguns, & grenade launchers, etc. so you can refill your empties in a private room rather than recycling and fabricating new ones. I use the shotgun as I'm not that good with the rifle and quite a bit of the battle is up close and personal where the shotty shines.
You don't need to go the private room to refill after each round either, fabricate enough weapons to last multiple rounds and you can refill them all with just one trip to the private room (saves on deterioration of roads/structures as each trip to a private room adds about 30 minutes worth of timefall degredation to them). I've read that having lots of chiral crystals can ease up Sam's weight, since the levitating properties of the crystals, each 1k chiral crystals lightens Sam's weight of 1 kg

@@miroslavbasa163 there are many small details hidden behind many of the things you can do in this game, my advice to you is that when you die, say hello and the soul of other people will answer, touch them and you will connect with them, so the next time you will fight a big bt and you have few weapons, press hello and the souls will rise and throw you equipment for fighting 💪
Best way to do this is right before the last mission, when sky have the northern lights. Every BT encounter will be against huge BTs, no need to be dragged. I was able to farm more than 100k chiral crystals with this. Just go with 5x multiple rocket launcher, find a vantage spot and you're done.

Just want to say this is a really helpful video and inspired me to run my endgame chiralium farming build.
I switch from controller to keyboard and mouse using the following build:
2 HG custom shotguns (or more), one switch to golden shell (30cg chiralium each) and one switch to buckshot.
HG custom shotgun has a grenade launcher, which can be combined with the buckshot and damage the BT boss, therefore saving chiralium and blood.
You can try to take down one with golden shell shotgun first (it does massive damage), so it's easier to fight the remaining two.
Having a large grenade pouch is also ideal.
Armor plate lv.4 has a significant damage reduction (I haven't really tested it but it feels like it helps), which I also recommend having them on.

Very Hard makes the combat so much more fun. my one complaint about the original game was that the combat was too easy.

How different very hard is from other difficulties, does it change the enemy AI or does it only buff them?

you could finish them more quickly with the hematic grenade, then blast bullets through the smoke
With three of them like that, the grenade is maybe too slow?
@@lot5953 you need to position yourself though, when you see one coming in fast have your grenade ready and throw it at it's face while it's coming at you then it will get stunned then you could fire all rounds at it but you need to shoot infront of the smoke for it to be effective

Hella inefficient compared to carrying grenades with utility pouches but I guess you weren't concerned with delivery. I also use lethal bullets coated with blood by firing though blood grenade smoke. Shotgun's damage fall off is pretty bad compared to a rifle. So you're being more inefficient while already being inefficient.

Trippy. I skipped all the stupid Pizza requests after the First One... it would seem I lost out on some Weapon Upgrades by doing that. I'm unaware that there is an Alternate way to get the Chiral Ammo. Next time I'll play Nice with Pizza Face!
I wasn't using chiral ammo here, switching between hemetic rounds and lethal rounds with the level 2 shotgun. Paint em up with a few hemetic rounds and then follow up with the lethal for the serious damage. I never use the chiral ammo btw, don't wish to burn up my profits.
I farm chiral pretty early once I can fire hermatic rounds. One time, I did it in a heavily infested BT with 2 boss fight almost back to back. I almost ran out of blood :D
Is the shotgun the most effective weapon against bt's? I always used hematic grenades.
No, not at all, the shotgun just happened to fit my personal playstyle best at the time. I've since moved on to using the level 2 Anti-BT handgun (czcams.com/video/BUJYPT0XCc4/video.html) but it's really a matter of personal preference. The combination of grenades followed up by lethal rounds is probably the fastest but I don't like having to switch back&forth between the 2 using the weapon wheel all the time (wish they had a "last weapon used" button). There's lots of options available to use but if you plan on doing quite a bit of farming, choose weapons that you can refill in the private room to reuse again rather than things like the rocket launchers which are 1 use only. Otherwise you'll end up not only farming crystals but having to farm materials to make replacement weapons as well.
I killed all the bts on my map and never fought the lion. Usually when I go to those big cloud bts floating around they regenerate and there will be a ton of crystals everywhere but you gotta run around and pick them all up. Speed skeleton and gravity gloves.
Yeah that's only possible in the DC version. I don't own ( or ever will ) the DC (Diminished Challenge) version.

Point taken, no matter what game you're playing, whether you're farming crystals, skill points, money, ammo, etc. you're cheesing the AI, it's what players do. But really, what's more challenging? Taking on catchers for crystals or shooting passive blobs out of the sky so they'll rain down crystals like pennies from heaven?
@@bubba006 If you play offline on very hard then you need to build necessary infrastructure to get to those shiny heavenly crystals. Also you need a ton of them because building / maintaining roads and other structures solo is expensive. So in the end it is just like any other honest work.
@@bubba006 Those mfers don't respawn. I am pretty sure I had to kill every last one on the map and it wouldn't be enough to build all roads if I didn't start by levelling most connections to 5 stars. And when I finally built all the roads and logged in for the first time only like 3 of them were shared with my network. The rest of them have 0 likes. 🤣Other than that it was surprisingly easy and only about 50 hours to build most ziplines, all roads and get to chapter 8 (heartman) in 60 hours or so.

Does the BT spawn again or what?
Yes, the BTs will respawn after 3 to 4 minutes in most cases. There is the odd occasion it could be longer (don't equip weather talisman on your backpack or you could be waiting up to 50 minutes. I equip the windmill while farming to help keep BB from going into autotoxemia.) In my game there is a safe house nearby where I can restock my weapons blood bags etc. Collect the crystals, go to safe house, resupply, wait 3 minutes and repeat.

Yes, you can collect crystals without fighting the bosses by killing or freeing the gazers, but you will only get a few hundred crystals before the area is cleared. Not a very profitable farming method.
Lol is 5k per grab good? Because i average over 10k per grab. I never had issues with chiral crystal procurement.
Gonna have to call BS on that one unless you're playing DC version and that's another "Let's make this game as easy as possible!" feature they've added in DC. This isn't DC, don't play it, never will.
How do you get up while sliding?!
I don't, I intentially choose that particular BT to pull me down as he is very close to the final destination of the drag (slide). The drag ends up being very short duration and stops close enough to the rising building that I can get onto the building right away and use it to elevate me to where I can jump onto the rock. Very little slogging through the mud that way.

Yes, sorry, the "Very Hard" setting wasn't available on PS4. It's only available on PC or the new Death Stranding Directors Cut version for PS5 ( I play on PC ).

Why do you need so many chiral crystals?!
It's just so much easier and quicker to repair roads and structures with crystals rather than to haul materials back and forth. Repair your entire zipline network without having to go get materials, just zip from one to the other using crystals to repair. For roads just jump on a bike and go repair, so much faster than a truck full of ceramics/metals.

difficult and dangerous 😮. the easiest way to earn crystals is to shoot levitating "jellyfish". one bullet from an assault rifle kills a jellyfish and drops 70+ crystals.
