    The Atn 320 LTV 5-15 is what I had. Great picture image at 5x… horrible for scanning though. One night mine somehow became a 3-9 magnification and then lost all zero. After it started doing that and lost zero I sent it back and went pulsar. If you want a $2000 thermal go with the talion xq38 or Agm rattler. At first I thought my ATN was awesome until 2-3 weeks later when it started failing and realized what everyone was talking about. Buy once, cry once.

    If your stepping up your game $2,000 is bottom of the barrel on a thermal ! Spend a little more and get something you can actually identify what your shooting at 200, 300 and 400 yards ! Otherwise you’re just guessing it’s a coyote ! And not a farmers dog or sheep or even a large raccoon…..

      I have a pulsar thermion 2 without the rangefinder, it’s crystal clear and you can easily identify a cat or skunk out at 600 + yards , picked mine up at scheels sporting goods with a discount card for $4600 .

      I doubt Gavin is out there shooting the neighbors dog. I’m personally not shooting 600 yards at coyote or hogs at night, so identifying a skunk at that distance is just more than I need. Couple hundred yards at most is what I’m working with. But I too am a Pulsar guy. Pulsar xm30F monocular and a C50 Night Vision scope. Tried an ATN ODIN and it crapped out on me in a week. But I watch a lot of these guys with ATN, so it can’t be total garbage.

    • @SVTBansheeman
      @SVTBansheeman Před 7 měsíci +2

      Come on now. The OP simply said he would spend a little more to know what he is shooting at. The quality at 100 yards is this video is absolute garbage.
      Companies pay CZcams channels to review and say nice things all the time. It's how they make a living. Ultimate reloader could of easily paid full price for this and is doing a non bias review. He could of got all sorts of incintives doing this. It doesn't matter to me.
      If I go thermal, Athlon's cheapest unit seems to have far better quality.

    Glad to see ATN's quality and ease of use has come up. A friend has one of the older ATN night vision scopes. Personally, I went with the Sightmark Wraith 4K NV on a RRA 6.8 SPC rifle primarily for hogs. I haven't used it much for night hunting, but have killed one hog with it during the daytime.

    Still window shopping yet, but this is hitting the price point to usefulness ratio range I'm looking for. Especially for my first thermal... ATN is definitely looking like best in class. And yes, coyotes (more than there should be) is what got me interested in this tool.

    In many states, the largest caliber you can shoot with night vision is 22 caliber. Otherwise, I would use the 6 ARC. Instead, there’s a 22 ARC going together for that purpose. It should be a great combination. The 6 ARC gas gun is sub-MOA all day.

  • @Veritas1992

    Regardless of the manufacturer, I would recommend at minimum a 640 core, especially for a scope. I have an iRay RH25 because I wanted the helmet mounted versatility but the extra detail is a requirement for me.

    had mine for about 7 months now... in this video it seems to be you are using the 3-9 thor LTV which is misleading because title claims it is the 4-12 ltv. Anyways full zoom on any Thermal really pushes the sensor and will never be the best quality. I recommend for the best shot for accuracy the less zoom you use the better it will be. Over my use of the ATN LTV 5-15, it has put down anything I've shot at with the 5.56 AR I use. The only overall complaint I have for these scopes is when they are zoomed in the accuracy seems to be thrown off, hopefully firmware updates in the future can fix the zoom in Accuracy problem.

    I've used reflective (HVAC) tape for zeroing my ATN Thor. I get more shooting with the reflective tape than the handwarmers. The reflective tape shows up cold compared to the rest of the target. I've also found painting a black circle on cardboard shows up really good too. (Dark attacts heat in the sunlight.)
    I started with the 3-9 160. I could not zoom past 5 without it becoming completely ganulated. I upgraded for a Thor 4 640 4-40. Wishing I'd gone with a higher base magnification, but other than that I love it. I've watched our dogs out in the yard and deer in the neighbor's pasture. I found black hot gives me the most clarity/target identification. It'd suck if I shot one of our dogs thinking it was a coyote, Their collar is what I look for and in black hot, I can see their collar really well. I added the range finder to my Thor 4. I like it, but not having it would not be a show stopper for me. Its neat watching the crosshair move when I range a deer 500+ yards away. Not that I'd take that shot, though. Deer are always on my neighbor's property. I love my Thor 4 and go out most nights just to see what there is to see. Air planes flying overhead is pretty neat to look at.
    As for the LTV series, I am sure I would have been very please with their LTV 640. I just would not be able to use the range finder.
