This video is excellent! I have never been to Seoul but you immersed me in another world from my couch in Ohio. You Tube must have suggested this video after researching the Sennheiser MKE 440 as a possible mic for mirrorless camera. Your passion for sound is contagious! And you help us understand how important sound is to great video. This reminded me of some of my favorite street food content. If you decided to make more like this of any city that you travel to, I would watch every one. Thank you for sharing, you are both very talented!

Some ideas - just brainstorming: sounds that are the soul of a place, sounds that make us sleep, sound that evoke nostalgia, sounds that remind us of a lost reality, sounds that create pleasure (butter in a pan). We have far too many pictures all over - but our brain also reacts to sound, to vibrations.

It sounds great - I like the POV perspective. It's really nice to see the sounds and get the vibe from the city. For me, I like this type of video as I might not ever get to Seoul so it's a way to virtually be there. The sounds you guys get paint the picture.... and what a crazy intersection.

Really enjoyed this video. Getting into field recording now after making my own electronic music around 15 years. Music is a hobby but I am much more passionate about recording. This channel is a big help and just enjoyable to watch. I like the gear based stuff and stuff like this. One day I hope to be able to do something similar. Right now it’s just me and my X8 and a dream. Thank you for what you do. ❤

I know you mention gear is secondary, I agree but I love the experimentation and the results it brings with different products to help understand what I enjoy and what I need to capture theses moments. Thanks for journey. I'd love to see / HEAR more.

Totally Agree. Showing the Sound is the visual journey of much inspiration. Please find nature within the cities as well as you paint your palette. So glad I bought your Lifetime license. Realise also like many creative people you are capturing "the moment" in history and in a moving way the ending of blade runner says it well. "All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain." (RIP Vangelis my friend)

    Nice work!
I also have this mic. I was surprised how good it sounds outdoor when I used it during a wedding and was able to capture clear dialogues from relatively far away (when I did some wide shots)… and it was windy. I was not sure to be able to use these dialogues on the video but it worked great.
Curiously, there is not a lot of reviews on it although I think it’s a great alternative to the Rode mics for mirrorless cameras.
Anyway, I discovered your channel some days ago and I like what you are doing, your work is inspiring and it’s nice to share with us. I will be happy to check and purchase your sounds when needed for my video projects. Keep living your passion and listen attentively to the sounds of the world! 😊

Ah this was an excellent follow up to the binaural video, interesting that your sennheiser mic acheive a similar effect. It was really interesting to see/hear a city presented like a portfolio of almost..... I have never really experienced anything like this before but I think it was really imaginative and again I liked the sense of story this video had. Again so many beautiful moments..... the motor bike vs the push bike, the reverb effect on the sirens as they echo across the city and subways! ♥️! My favourite kind of soundspace. The moment when the train arrives was very magical but I don't want to give it away for other viewers as it was such a nice surprise 😁 I found this kind of video really helps me to get the "feeling" of what it is like to be in Seoul which is somehow more refreshing than watching a straightforward documentary with facts and case studies..... this is very new and exciting to me so I definitely encourage you guys to continue.

Can't wait to see your next destinations! I think somebody mentioned it, but yeah I enjoy more of that hearing of foreigners speak. Natural utters and conversations. And that as if I am there. Sounds of things are probably better for your library, but on youtube, voices are very nice. A friend of mine went around international houses(living in Korea) and made binaral recordings of lullaby in different tongues. (He has social skills and also some good reputation as a recording artist.) We talked about putting binaural microphones on statues. So we'd know what those statues are listening to, on those specific locations. No I really do not like religious statues, but what the heck, it might be intriguing if I listen to the sounds as if I am a buddha. I bet I will hear so much prayer or babbling wishes on material gains... Happy trails, and thank you so so much for the lovely work in Korea! I won't miss you too much because I will continue seeing you~

Even though I like the gear related videos and technical comments, because it's very helpful and inspiring. BTW, did you gyus see teh "Lisbon Story" movie by Wim Wenders? Generaly, it's about a guy walking arounf Lisbon and recording sounds for the unseen movie. @herrlehmann6855 Před 10 měsíci

let me say first, I like your great videos so much! the Sennheiser MKE 440 is the typical jack of all trades but master of none... I like this mic, its mechanically extremly sturdy, so the best choise for run & gun... it delivers stereo and shot gun qualities at the same time and at highest preamp settings a virtualy noise free signal... but thats the problem, it's sound is everything, but never 'immersive'... so I today in this days prefere the AT BP4025 or Rode Stereo X for immersive stereo sound without any compromizes and when it comes to shotgun qualities (isolating dialogs etc), we now have AI to do this job nearly the same way as a shot gun (or double shotgun like the MKE440) could do this... AND we now have the 32bit internal MS stereo recording ZOOM M3... noise level is everything else but professionell, so its only usefull for bussy enviromentals... but MS recording and using a mic without cable connection to the camera (which needs sync in post) is so amazing and convenient for run & gun video... 130 gramm, put it everywhere (due to the internal 32bit float recorder) and change field pattern in post... it's so amazing

IF you were going to use a recorder, would the F3 with some sort of XLR splitter work do you think? If via the Sony, how did you set the record level... did you have to adjust constantly as the location changed? Cheers.
