As of 1.4 this has been patched.
Hop on mount, aim bow, charge your shot, immediately try to throw the ball. It is at this time you can check to see if you have done it successfully. If you have, there will be a ball in your hand (now you can hop off the mount). If there is no ball in your hand, try again. Shouldnt have to say this, but use the tier 1 balls. Watch the whole video too. He explains how to swap to higher tier balls AND not lose the ones you have.
So u throw the ball before releasing the bow?
im trying it right now on windows 11. Game update v0.1.3.0, playing single player, with custom game settings, like more EXP an more loot from drops, i cant get it to work. i click an hold to draw bow, i click an hold left Click till i fully pull bow back, than Weil holding Left an right click, i press an Hold Q so that im now holding the sphere, than i let go of all three buttons at the same time, some times i shoot an arrow, some times i throw an waste a sphere. Some times i just let go of everything an nothing happens. is this a speed thing? do you need to do these actions real fast? are you supposed to let go of a specific key 1st? been at it an hr.
it zooms me in and I cannot attack anything until I log out what's happening

You can also capture traders and black marketeers and employ them in your base.
As far as I can tell this doesn't work on Nitewing.. Or maybe it just doesn't work in singleplayer. I can do the throw/open inventory one pretty consistently in my buddies world but I also use Vanwyrm in his world. I can't get either to work in singleplayer on Nitewing.
EDIT: I tried it with the same mount you're using, I've concluded it just doesn't work in singleplayer.

No but I have got it to work with the bow and xbow. Just aim then left click and hit q. It should work almost every time.
I'll be honest with you, a glitch like this isn't terrible because even though you might be able to catch pals a lot easier, it's still going to take time to get a pal that is the right stats and bonuses.
As much as I want to use this I'm dedicated to not cheating on this game! But it's getting hard

I get this annoying bug always I just throw a sphere while sitting on a mount. Nothing else to do.
But its annoying, that it only can be fixed by relogg...

Yeah i used blue pall spheres. But can't get it to work as of now. I get the ball stuck to my hand but can't trow it and camera is zoomed in so don't know if it still works after the patch today

if this method doesnt work, go onto your mount, do an attack and as fast as possible after throw your pal sphere, tight timing but if you get it it should work

@@antknee7394 Go onto your mount, Do any of the mount's attacks (eikthrdeer charge, etc), as soon as you do that throw a sphere, you can probably find a video for the exact timing, after you see the visual bug, switch to your highest level sphere, put them all in a chest (or drop them) and then click to throw.
It definitely doesn’t seem to work anymore seems like it was patched in an update yesterday from what I’ve seen from others (if you have updated since then) I’m on Xbox single player. Thoughts or tips?(I’ve been at it for hours)

Way easier method is you mount a flyer. Throw balls and tab soon as u do. Then go to the best ball u wanna use and drop it. If you throw out another pal u have to just pick the ball back up and drop it again

Yes it does. There's another method you can do on console where you are on a mount, throw a sphere and open the inventory quickly and it does the same. It happened to me on xbox on accident and I quit to title instead of going on a capture spree.

not saying it doesnt work, but i cant get it to work and ive tried multiple different mounts. i have previously noticed a random ball stuck to my hand before watching this video though, so if i can make it happen again i will come update :)
It might depend on of you are on single player or multiplayer/dedicated server unfortunately. A lot of these glitches depend on this.
Also some depend on your framerate. If you have high framerate they are impossible to do.
