@Weso 248 The brawl after the Khabib and Conor fight at UFC 229 is nowhere near as worse as the Strikeforce: Nashville one.
The Strikeforce: Nashville event was a dud on CBS despite having all three title fights on the card and all three fights were lopsided. In contrast, UFC 229 was on a pay-per-view.
The UFC still continues to operate despite that mess while the disappointments of the show and the brawl inside Bridgestone Arena was the beginning in the end for Strikeforce.

Mayhem disrespected Jake shields by walking up on him, and interupting his interview after he won the biggest fight of his life, so yes jake shields and gilbert melendez shoved him back.. and rightfully so.. then mayhem shoved melendez back.. then the fight broke out.. then picked a fight with the cesar gracie fight team.. when he shoved melendez.. their all good friends on that team.. if u dont want to fight 5 guys alone, dont pick a fight with 5 guys..

@ThePintoAce ok, saw the fight and I cant really say his wrestling has improved but against a wrestler that is what he will have to do, shoot in for the single and pull guard, beautiful submission and I dont understand why it is people dont tap when he catches them clean if he is known for snapping bones
One thing I really want to see about this fight is that GSP will keep it standing and pick him apart, I enjoy watching GSP's stand up get better every fight.

i agree that Edgar has better wrestling. But aoki has improved. Did you see the aoki vs Kawajiri fight? it was breliant and demonstrated Aoki's submission game

@ThePintoAce I did not get a chance to see that fight, and kinda do hope his wrestling is getting better, but in complete honesty i dont see Aoki ever having wrestling thats comparable to Edgar and Hughes. Hell even GSP had trouble taking Penn down in the first round. I'll give you this, if the fight goes late into the second or third Aoki's chances of pulling off a submission improve 10 fold but i think BJ would put him away in the first
@tanglestrangle I'm a wrestler that recently started cagefighting and I understand where people are coming from as far as just using wrestling to grind out a win. It's not exciting there was a couple times during my fight where the crowd was really into it but when we were on the ground it was boring even for me. When you heard the crowd going crazy because you hit someone so hard that everyone in the arena can hear it then you get a bigger rush than you do when you win at least I did anyway.

@mixmaster2669 to be fair Miller had a choke sunk in (Im thinking this was at the end of the third) Shields was the better fighter for 95 percent of the fight but the bell did save him and nothing shields did brought the fight close to finishing. So Yeah it was a pretty easy scorecard victory but again that little bell saved him a loss.

@westy3206 I disagree. Because the more fighters that go to the UFC means that people will think MMA is only the UFC and I don't wanna see that happen. We need people on the outside to show that there is more to MMA than just the UFC.

@xhuntarianx No he really is signing into the UFC. I think its official now actually. His Strikeforce contract is done so the UFC picked him up. And i agree 100%. I say give GSP Jake Shields and see how he does before he gets Silva. Or visa-versa

I agree with Shinya Aoki not being top ten in lightweight. He'd definitely be top ten of submission artists pound-for pound but that's all i'll give him.
@passekhal yeah I have only seen him fight twice, the Rogers and Werdum fights and I wasn't really blown away. As for Lesnar, Im not ready to call him a bad fighter....but Cain did expose exactly how raw he is, part of his problem is his isolation, he needs to go with other fighters and learn more. Not stay alone in Minnessota.
They did those things while in UFC?
I get your point, it's similar to mine. Those who sell tickets, get benefits. But those acts were not committed while in the UFC so they aren't great examples.

Is Shields really signing to the UFC now or is it just speculation? If he does he will make a hell of an addition to the WW or MW division. I think he poses a bigger threat to Anderson or GSP than their next opponents do.

That's a very real mentality for a large part of the world, try growing up the way some of these guys do and still being successful. That's why people love the diaz brothers, its all real with them.
i love the ufc fights... this guy has done a great job in making things happen, but it's like he's promoting WWE.

GSP's such a smart fighter. I wanna see him more stand-up since that is Shields weakness. GSP will do better wrestling too but Shields can pull some surprise submission. If Shields would weigh more, GSP could get a hard time..

Any UFC fan and to a certain extent the casual fan knows who Silva is, but they don't know who Chael Sonnen is.
Strikeforce is up & coming and Shields was one of their top guys and he got no promo time, but unlike Silva, he needed that time because the casual fans didn't know who he was.

I'm a GSP fan but we all have to realize than upsets happen all the time... in all of professional sports. GSP can not be over-confident.
@WadeGHamilton i definitely dont think he stands a chance against silva. but u do have good points, he is a top p4p fighter and he has proven himself. i feel like he is a lower rated gsp becausee he is conservative as hell but good at it too so he is always getting those decisions. i think shields v fitch would be a really good match now, they are both kinda similar tho jake would have the edge in bjj but fitch is almost like gsp. thats just my opinion, no need to argue bout the silva thing.

There was always something I didn't like about Anderson Silva, the way he was showing off in some of the fights then he fought Damien Maia and it was the biggest disgrace I have ever seen. Sure he's the best striker in the world, but MMA fans dellusionally think if he fought a GSP or a Shields it would be muay tai fight standing up. GSP would take him down at will like Chael but wouldn't get caught as he's a BJJ Black Belt, and Shields would do even better agst him

@ThePintoAce yes, youre 100% right, Edgar did take him down, cant argue that, and he took him down fairly handily, did you see that awesome sweep kick he gave penn when he was holding his other leg up? freakin beautiful! but anyways, While Edgar took him down, Edgar is a well pedigreed wrestler, and wrestlers specialize in taking people down, Aoki is not a wrestler and would not take him down. much like Melendez did, Penn would beat him down on his feet
Dana White has a way of selling stuff to me. When I first saw the brawl, I thought 'Wow, this is the saddest day in MMA history'. When Dana White explained it like this, it actually made more sense. Not that it's OK, but I get the context of it now.
Rumor has it that it was Danna that asked GSP to confront Matt Hughes in the Octagon that time. Could Danna be lying when he says the UFC wont do that lol

Kind of shows the difference between Conor and Diaz brothers. Nick and Nate seem to have a better mental que than Conor for when a fight breaks out. They know when the right time to pop off is. I havent really watched much of the same from Conor.

Nick & Nate (& the rest of the "Scrap Pack") got into a brawl w/ "Mayhem" Miller (look for it on youtube under "strikeforce brawl). Nick got into a fight at the hospital after a UFC event (he went looking for the guy he had fought that night at the hospital). Nate threatened a comedian at a BJJ expo. Nick & Nate got into a fight w/ KJ Noons & his father after KJ won the fight. They do ALL these things yet are STILL in the UFC & Dana's STILL to this day trying to get Nick a fight! Bias? YES!

@mixmaster2669 I wouldn't really call GSP's eye something good Shields did from stand up. He poked him in the eye multiple times and swiped him a couple times in the eye also. There is video evidence proving it.
