    Quick tip. Fill your Ultrasonic cleaner with just water. Put your chemical cleaner and parts in a zip lock bag and put it in the ultrasonic cleaner that is filled with water. That way you wont have to clean up your ultrasonic cleaner or waste as much solvent. This works great as long as your cleaner is not so harsh that it will eat plastic.

    I've watched several videos using the ultrasonic cleaners and different kinds of solvents. I've wondered about the o ring on the extractor as not one removed it. I would think that the solvent would degrade it in a hurry.

    You must rinse the parts after ultrasonic to remove the degreaser residues then blow dry then lube. If you don't have an air compressor to dry, you can use the air duster can that people use for their electronics.

    Thanks for the detailed video. Everyone who comments about Frog Lube being "goey" are simply admitting that they didn't use it correctly. Apply Frog Lube and then wipe it "off".... a sufficient amount remains in the metal to provide lubrication and protection. Too many people leave a layer or film of Frog Lube on the firearm parts.... that's the wrong application/use of this product. I have used Frog Lube for nearly five years on almost 30 firearms without issue.

    Question about the blue oil product you used with the needle point applicator. Isn't that the Lucas Fishing Reel Oil? If so, I was curious if you had any ideas of what it's made of and is it safe for all surfaces, any issues with other products, etc? Witg it not being labeled for guns, just curious since you seem to have the entire outdoor product line.

      @@williamclaud8856 You do know. That anything that you flush in the shiter, goes to the waste water plant. Then gets dumped into your local river etc. You eventually end up drinking that same water eventually. So it does not bother you to be drinking Lucas oil cleaner and lead? You should dispose of it properly with your local hazardous waste collection service.

      +Bass Star since this video was about using the ultrasonic cleaner, I didn't show any of that. The lower rarely needs cleaning, just a quick visual to make sure no dirt or large obstructions are inside the lower or trigger group. It's always important to clean the barrel correctly, but that deserves a completely different video.

    • @user-ss6zt2mo1l
      @user-ss6zt2mo1l Před 6 lety

      Jack Burton you can, but the Great thing about Lucas is that it coats the parts with an oil Film so you don’t have to put an oil film on them, like barrel or the slide. You clean in the Ultrasonic, blow dry the parts, lube the required contact points and reassemble. If you use Purple Simple Green HD/distilled water it strips all the oil completely off the parts, then after blow drying you have to spray with your oil of choice, wipe off and lube and reassemble. Using Lucas saves time because you are skipping the step of having to wipe a light Film oil on your parts. Lucas is more expensive. For $30 for 2 bottles if it saves me some time and headache it’s worth it. You can also filter the stuff and use it again if you are desperate.

    I use my sonic cleaner the same way. However, I'll spray some WD40, for water displacement, like the WD means, then use one of my wife's old blow dryer and rest the parts on a super soft towel and let the dryer get the parts dry and hot from the heat of the dryer.
    I have never in over 40 years had anything rust or not dry using this method. I even put the complete field stripped pistol into the sonic cleaner and follow the same process to clean and protect the guns. I have even done this with polymer handguns. With the polymer frames i pack the hair dryer back a bit more so only warm air blows over the parts, not hot or too close.
