  • But I do understand why so many people consider him to have had Growth Stunts in his career. Since high school he's been one of the top players in the country, but also since high school, he's been dealing with injuries that always kept him around 85% of his full potential. He still manage to become the top point guard prospect leaving high school. He chose UCLA over Kansas Georgia Tech and Duke. He had the unique combination of strength, size, speed athleticism and leadership qualities that made him the #3 overall pick even after suffering a torn ACL as a freshman. His NBA career didn't begin the way a 3rd pick should've, but by his second season he started to hone his skills and made the all star game by year 3. Also by then, his injuries started to pile up and become a regular storyline in his career, that never really stopped. Hip to ankle to knee, back, and more. But other than that he's had an admirable career that ended too soon. Here's why I don't think Baron Davis was a Bust. Stunted Growth.

Outside 2009 when tmac was pretty much done and yao ming was overrated as shit. In their playoffs together yao ming only averaged around 1 more rebound than tmac. Tmac is 6'9 at best and on the perimiter most of the time, yao should outrebound him especially in the playoffs. He was never out of shape on the court. He’s mentioned it plenty of times, he has a body type that gains weight easily so in the off season, his body type will gain weight with no activity. That’s just genetics. How the hell do you never take care of your body yet always come back from knee injuries to be as explosive as he was? You can’t be that fast and that explosive and be out of shape. He was in shape in the big 3 yet he’s always out of shape. So I’m guessing since back and knees are affected by weight that he tore his ACL at UCLA because he was out of shape? Make it make sense?

BD was my guy. I like the approach of this video. Too many times you’ve thrown out the HOF for average players but he had great talent and ability

Baron Davis was just nasty. One of my favorite plays I’ve ever seen anyone make is when while still in college, he had a 2 on 1 fast break and faked a behind the back pass and wrapped it back to himself and dunked it. I’ll never forget it.

Great vid. Thing about BD is he had such a classic style. He would be highly played in 2K and that's a compliment in itself. I used to love the old BD hornetts jersey that my cousin wore. I wish I had one back then.

The only bust I remember is his busting Kirilenko into a million pieces with the greatest dunk of all time.

Back to back JC got my old Hughes and Baron Davis 2004 NBA Live back court ,on a roll. Baron Davis was like a modern day Acrobatic Earl the Pearl and James Harden before harden. He was relentless and took it to all the Greats ,injuries inhibited him from being a HOF candidate IMO.

As a warrior fan hella mad they didn’t keep the we believe team together….the western conference always been super tough back then it was that much tougher the following season after taking down Dallas warriors barely missed the playoff despite going 48-34…. Daaam it when they broke it up talking about rebuild….but it’s good warriors finally came through… Barron a solid dude and was a straight baller!!!

Shawn Kemp and Larry Johnson (before the injury) were close in the strength and athleticism and speed department.

Great anaology. Out of the three, Shawn Kemp of course was the most promising. I think Larry Johnson was built more like a football linebacker than a basketball player. I think the jumping took a toll on his muscular frame. I think Baron Davis' game was too powerful at times for his body to hold up. But I always enjoyed how Baron would explode to the basket.

Baron Davis succeeded in the NBA despite injuries that would've prevented many hoopers from even trying. He's not a bust at all, Davis is a testament to amazing natural talent and determination. A hoops Warrior!

BARON DAVIS WASN'T ANYONE'S BUST. HE WAS NICE ALL THROUGH HIS CAREER, MORE SO BEFORE THE INJURIES. BTW GOT ANOTHER REQUEST FROM THE CRATES... RODNEY MONROE FROM NC STATE. ONE OF THE BEST TWO GUARDS IN ACC HISTORY.
