I can understand your fear though of the unlikely mixed post-modernist Marxist phenomenon that swept your part of the world and that's trying to censor common sense an bend free thought and science to its whims, as a none-westerner who actually knows first hand how sacred freedom of speech is, i do agree that you guys should stay most vigilant especially that they got to sensitive fields like children education, still it feels like the pendulum is swinging back to the sanity side, the canceling powers of the far left twitter mob is waning (maybe completely eradicated if Musk buys it) , so of course support these guys however you can, i for one can only subscribe to there channels, like and share as many videos i watch with my English speaking friend.

I know what Lex means when he says "....love in your heart." I have a VERY similar mantra. I'm a dietitian, and the way I approach nutrition isn't by extolling willpower; it's by trying to inspire people with WHY-POWER. WHY do you want to eat a healthy diet, get enough sleep, stay off drugs, exercise the way you should, and love those around you? If you can answer "WHY???" you can transcend the need for willpower, and all your vices lose their grip.

Impressive interpretation of how Lex is like a wolverine. I thought you would say wolf. His way of thinking like an engineer and one whose life centers around compassion and excellent listening and understanding seems so special to me. I feel less lonely listening to his conversations. Some part of me thinks I want to learn the information from the conversations, yet mostly I am appreciating the essential being that comes through how well he relates with the one he is learning from and listening to. His way of being in the world, the humility, the capacity for self doubt, multiple perspectives, and his sustained concentration level I admire. I pray he makes it back to the US. Thank you Dr. Huberman for also offering us so much free knowledge. What generosity!

Yes, there is some negative stuff in the manosphere eg divorced fathers understandably embittered by the self evident injustice of family courts. However, it is far from the conspiracy wokesters see. As others have mentioned, it’s great to see all these rational thinkers on CZcams and how seeing one interview leads you to a new leading light. Eg I’ve just seen Murray being interviewed about Fridman. I ‘met’ Jordan Peterson while following dissident
feminist Camille Paglia eviscerating neo-Modernism. Peterson’s CZcams interviews lead to discovering other adventurous thinkers, as does Joe Rogan - including naturally JBD. Time to evolve to the andro-verse

      @earthalchemyholisticllc333 Před 2 lety +7

@@philodonoghue3062 one major issue I have with the manosphere is they take lectures that JP has done years and years ago and they twist them up to their benefit. I've been listening to Jordan Peterson way before Lex ever came out or this guy. Back in 2017 when the manosphere wasn't so huge and it wasn't all about woman hating. The statistics they use for the dating scene is completely obscured, from 2005, they don't cover all statistics they just cover the ones that fits their menosphere agenda. And they're using information and statistics from the dating site not real life. In real life women get hurt by men just as much as men get hurt by women. To bat eachother against one another is the Marxist agenda and the manosphere plays a part in it just like the 3rd wave feminists. It's one in the same, women hating men, men hating women. These guys who call themselves "high value" or "Alpha" play right into the toxicity that lfe has thrown at them. There is such a thing called toxic masculinity and toxic feminine. But the key word is "toxic" has nothing to do with the sex. People need to take a deeper look at themselves and ask themselves why did they pick the partner they picked and take responsibility in their own choices in life. Men and women. To have an understanding of human nature and the psychology behind it and how the powers that shouldn't be play them like a fiddle. If we are always online hating on one another, how is that changing our world for the bettter? It's like all of us are playing out our bad relationships with opposing groups. The battle of the sexes will never end if it keeps going this way. Men need to understand we women are different than them and they are different than us. It's not a bad thing it's nature.

I've been waiting to share this for so long and this interview about feedback to friends finally bought it out. The best managers I've worked with see what you're doing and ask why you didn't hit or achieve certain targets. They identify the gaps and expect you to improve. I thought for years these two senior managers in particular were really hard on me and my fellow managers and at times I thought they didn't like me personally, not that that mattered. However, it turned out I was performing exceptionally well and in fact was performing with a level of expertise in certain areas beyond the two managers, but I wouldn't have been able to achieve the things I achieved without their critique and tough questions. The secret was that they kept me competing against myself and were very proud every time I developed more. It gave me a profound lesson when I realised this after so many years.
I must note this was done in a healthy environment and wasn't unfairly punitive or denigrating in anyway. We had a great work culture and a lot of respect.

I agree with Andrew's philosophy on the three "rewards." What's funny for me. a 65+ year old former career military and businessman, is that this was standard ops. It was taught in enlisted military schools ( I was an instructor for 8 years in USAF Leadership), college courses, etc. Somewhere along the way in the past 20 years it became forgotten and is treated like "new info." A sign to me we have severely gone off course on what is correct teaching and behavior and what is now "acceptable" teaching and behavior. What amazes most about instances/examples like this is the lightning speed social media has had on misdirecting these tried-and-true practices and replacing them with anger, violent confrontation and intolerance. Wake Up America!!

The point with the energy makes sense to me
Sometimes I sleep only like 3- hours for days and days and feel super energetic
But it mostly happens in times where every day is intresting/adventurous/or when I'm in a very happy mood, which fortunately happens quite often :)
Last time it happened in Italy when we were in the mountains
    So in 4 days...
    - I eat only one small meal a day
    - drank some alcohol, what I rarely do
    - went mountain climbing and bouldering every day
    - and slept in total only 6 hours (3+2+1)
I often ask myself. How can that be?
Aren't we all just made of a kinda similar body and filled with energy from our food
But it was/is kinda clear that it has to come from your brain/mind/whatever its called :)

That 85/15 reward system is tricky as it plays into some potentially dangerous addiction-related mechanics. Example - online gaming will have reward systems that don't always work. Why? So that people will endlessly grind for rewards, knowing the reward they want could appear anytime, but of course, it may not. Now maybe it's too hard to rewire ourselves, but if possible, it might be preferable to playing into that addictive system being abused by devs and/or executives in various companies.
In case you're wondering, yes, it's far more widespread than online gaming.

I find it weird how all the podcasters pump each other up in a kind of cyclical way to get them all more followers and in turn benefit themselves. All funneling up to Rogan as he's the top dog and because they want to be on his podcast. Fridman and this conversation typify this ethos perfectly.

@5:30 To me, this sounds like the difference between a (typical) mother and father. Mothers tend to be sympathetic, nurturing and supportive, where fathers tend to practice tougher love, and seek to instill discipline, strength and resilience.
Obviously, not every mother and father will fall into this pattern, but the approaches described in the podcast seem distinctly masculine & feminine... despite the recent attempts to blur those distinctions.

Wow! That’s interesting, I’ve never thought of it that way! To tell someone what they could do better! But that’s way more work and time consuming than just “ your doing great”! But yea, it takes a special person to accept the criticism and a special person to take the time to tell someone that! because then you have to tell them how you would do it. And so on…..plus someone might be offended?

I just subscribed to your podcast because I believe you'll be one of my favorite persons too and I don't have many! I'm kind of jealous that you spent Thanksgiving with lex, actually, I'm very jealous because he's one of my favorite people. Dr huberman has become one of my favorite people since his broadcast with lex. Do you think that if I made Thanksgiving dinner for you, lex, doctor hooverman and Elon musk, that y'all would come and have Thanksgiving with me? I make a great Thanksgiving dinner because I'm very old and know the old ways of cooking from scratch. Dream Thanksgiving dinner is on my mind. Thank you for this broadcast.
