There's a little more to the Thalmor's hate of Talos than him being a man ascending to godhood. The elves worship gods who were once mortal like them. Though these mortals were Aldmer. The first elven race. Trinimiac and Phynaster, for instance, were mortal before ascending to godhood. Talos, however, was man, not mer. Humanity in the eyes of the Thalmor, are a corrupted version of the people of Nirn by Lorkhan, the creator of Mundus, who they despise. Lorkhan was killed, but it is said he is reincarnated in mortal form every so often. These are known as Shezzarines. Named after Lorkhan's Cyrodilic name, Shezzar. Tiber Septim, AKA Talos, is said to be one of these Shezzarines. And if he ascended to godhood, that would mean that technically Lorkhan is back. It is theorized the Last Dragonborn is a Shezzarine. The player can sit on the throne of Shor (the Nord name for Lorkhan) in Sovengarde. Something only Lorkhan can do. The timing of the Dragonborn awakening in Skyrim is also perfect. There is a war to determine the right of a Shezzarine to be worshipped, Alduin, son of Akatosh, has returned and seeks to destroy and/or control all of Mundus, which Lorkhan created, and the Thalmor are at the height of their power. The Thalmor despise mortality and it's possible they seek to unmake Mundus so they can all ascend to godhood. Which is why Ancano was sent to the College of Winterhold and even commented, "The power to unmake the world at my fingertips!" when he was using the Eye of Magnus. Magnus, btw, is one of the gods worshipped by the High Elves. So of course Lorkhan showing up to clean this whole mess up makes sense. The Divines are a mix of human and elven pantheons created by Queen Alessia to ease tensions between the elves and men living in her kingdom. The Thalmor are purists, however, and would prefer to worship their gods their own way. Not as the Divines. Though they do not claim the Divines don't exist. There is a little issue they might have with Akatosh that goes back to when a monkey's cult danced and broke him to try and split him from his elven form Auriel but... eeeeeh. That would also lead into how a Shezzarine becomes dragonborn. Which, in short, is Akatosh and Kynareth bestowing power onto someone and by extension their bloodline. Akatosh MIGHT not like the Thalmor because maybe he IS a separate god from Auriel now, but Kynareth is Lorkhan's wife. So... she kinda can't resist helping him out. Maybe she convinced Akatosh to give the Last Dragonborn the dragonblood, who knows.
Good to see another Anne and Mike video. Having several followers is nice, and even cooler now that there are several of them who interact with each other but sometimes the simultaneous conversation gets really confusing. Taliesin's writer and VA did a great job with him. So did Luciens. Was a bit surprised to see a Mythic Dawn museum in Dawnstar. I suppose the host wore a replica of their robes as way to fully display how they looked, as the ones in the display cabinets are folded and doesn't show them fully, like museum guides will sometimes wear period-accurate replicas of outfits in RL too.
The creator and voice of Lucien is an actual author. And his dad made a cartoon way back in the day. I think the guy technically has a real family history of spreading knowledge. Like how Lucien's family collects it. I know he has a Discord server, and is currently working on an update for Lucien that gives him dialogue for the Dragonborn DLC questline. I did ask him once if he planned to do a compatibility mod for Legacy of the Dragonborn mod too, and I think he said he would like to. Though that's likely a long time off from now. I don't know if he's even done lines for the Dawnguard questline yet. He's really dedicated.
Mike do you think in the future that maybe you and Anne will play mass effect series 1 2 3. That would be so fun if you would as I would really like to know what different choises Anne would make as shepard.
I got fired from my job and a lot of other comparably terrible things have happened to me today. I have finally calmed down and sat down hoping I'd see a MikeBurnFire video uploaded. I wasn't disappointed. Especially because it's been a while since we've seen Anne around.
The Thalmor likely want Talos worship to stop because it's a foundational myth of the Empire itself. Talos is Tiber Septim, and is the founder of the current Empire. Beyond that, they likely realize how many people follow Talos and would continue to worship him regardless of legality, and it would give them a way of inserting themselves into internal Empire affairs. The Stormcloak uprising might be from their machinations, but likely realize there's quite similar dissent across the Empire. And, if they play the cards right Talos could be forgotten by Man within a century. Yes, there are worshippers of Twelve Divines. The Dunmer believe in the Aedra and Daedra, and actively worship the 3 "good" Daedra. You could also claim the old Tribunal was also considered part of the 12 Divines.
Yay! Anne's back! We missed you! Hopefully you have not been sick. Here's a mental image for you: Goth Pocahontas. I'm pleased that Mike could heard the vision of "Dadvidicus" too. Fallen apart, *yet*!
Thalmor also are meant to want to end Nirn so they can become God's as they believe elves ancestors were Aedra. This is part of the reason they have banned Talos worship as he I believe is one of the things stopping them.
It's weird to say but pacing is so important and so many mod creators forget that. It's one thing to want to show a character talk slow or act a certain way, but you also have to be aware of time and how much it feels time is passing as their character talks. Some modded characters are really squeezing for that emotional soliloquies but if it's not landing that two minute conversation, which is already too long at times, feels so much longer.
The Red Year happened in year 5 of the fourth era. The Dunmer would've been fleeing in waves depending on when their homes became covered in ash. But still, Rinori has been devastated and wandering Windhelm in a depressed state for almost 200 years give or take. Although apparently Dunmer are still fleeing Morrowind to this day. Why the wait, I have no clue.
19:04 - For those who want a bit more info on the 'Thalmor hate Talos' thing: It goes back to the creation of Nirn - the world the Elder Scrolls is set in. God named Lorkhan tricks a bunch of other gods to help him make the world, something which costs a bunch of those gods their immortality/divinity - and thus they became the first elves, the Aldmer. All the different races of elves are descended from those Aldmer, with the Altmer - High Elves - claiming to be the most 'pure' descendants. They hate Lorkhan because his machinations are what denied them their rightful divinity, while human races - Nords and what-not - revere Lorkhan (Shor) for creating the world that allows them to exist. Cue Tiber Septim conquering the Summerset Isles and subjugating the High Elves, killing many in the process. A mere man lording over the 'rightful rulers' of the world, who then mantled (essentially took the place/power of) Lorkhan and became Talos - a tyrant-god the High Elves were forced to worship for hundreds of years. And you can see why there'd be a lil' animosity there. Basically; Best case scenario - Talos is a fake god based on a conquering tyrant that the High Elves were forced to worship. Worst case scenario - Talos is literally Satan for Elder Scrolls elves. (Also, if anyone is curious what happened to the gods that didn't become elves. Those who helped make the world but retained their divinity are the Aedra (ancestors in elfish); beings like Akatosh, Magnus, Arkay, etc. And those who didn't help with making the world and made their own little planes of existence are the Daedra (not-ancestors); Azura, Meridia, Molag Bal, etc.)

13:06 WTF NO! The Akaviri dragons would NOT come here! They're not supposed to be here! Not yet anyway! A dragon from Akavir being here would be the catalyst for a whole new DLC or a new f*cking game! We don't even know if the dragons of Akavir liked Alduin or not!
