I miss Duncan and Nowitzki. Made two franchises out of losing teams. Same with Curry.

This is why the NBA needs to have at least one VET on every team. I remember Trae Young talking about how much of an impact Jeremy Lin had on showing him the ropes and his presence in the Locker Room was good for him. NBA teams need to hire more vets even at the veteran minimum.

I really wish media/CZcamsrs would stop throwing out the leadership tag for players. Honestly these young players are in no way "Leaders". They are good at basketball and some of them may be the best on their team, but that doesn't magically make them a leader. The short clip of Tim Duncan rallying in his teammates that you shared... That was actual leadership. A leader does not need to be the best player or even a player at all.
Totally right. Most great players arenât leaders. A lot of good players hurt teams.
@@matthewbingham265 thatâs why itâs often talked about, bc if you that caliber of a player, the next thing to look at is how much of a leader and how good of a leader you are. That leadership role is always going to come with the better players
What?? He's the face of the franchise.
â@@AMHoops Just because you are the face of the franchise doesn't mean you have to be the leader. Trae is just the best Hawks player. Trae turned 24 like 3 months ago. What 24 year old is going to be a good leader? Especially when you are playing for a coach. Regardless of whether or not Nate is a good coach, Nate is 58. He has seniority. He should command respect. Trae isn't giving him any and it just goes to show Trae thinks he is above his coach, which is a really bad thing. It's bad for Trae because it show immaturity and it is bad on Nate for not being harsher on Trae. Once the best player on the team starts to distance themselves from the coach, the entire locker room starts to get lost. Trae and his age is not capable of being a leader. That 2021 playoffs went straight to his head in the worst way. It might end up being the worst thing to ever happen to him.

This is one of the reasons why I greatly respect not only the talents of Stephen Curry but also his leadership, teamwork, and humbleness for the betterment of the team.
The guy won the unanimous MVP, the first ever in NBA but accommodated the talents of Durant to win the championships twice and then, came off the bench to accommodate the scorching âin the zoneâ of Poole during the playoff run, made other players much better (e.g., Wiggins) through his gravity and off-ball movements, and in recent games, you can clearly see Curry dishing more to Klay to help him out of the major slump. He is the unquestionable leader.
As long as Curry is playing for GSW, they will always be a contender.
Exactly! The story Steve Kerr tells about Curry wanting to come off the bench so that Jordan Poole could continue starting IN THE PLAYOFFS is legendary.

I have zero confidence in Trae becoming a leader. You could see him completely check out and not even pay attention to the coaching during a timeout in the playoffs. When he got on the floor it was clear he wasn't in tune with the team. Guys who quit on their team can never lead. It's no surprise at all that a terrible defender is also selfish and lacks leadership. I want to move on from him before he becomes too risky for other teams.
Your videos are amazing mate. Keep at it
As a hawks fan that's listen to every post game, I can agree that the players and coaches secretly allude to trae. By way of Murray, they would allude to the leadership that Murray brings is new to the team. How Murray has change the whole team mindset and energy.

Trae Young has that Napoleon Complex
Trae is 6 feet 2 inches tall, whats
Napoleon about that.
It's a good thing you mentioned Curry and Duncan. Made their teams all time franchises. No ego at all. Sure, Curry show off during games but also makes sure that he gives effort on offense and defense. Not just skill.
The problem with Trae Young is that he's an awful defender for an experienced playoff team and eventually teams will realize that. He can't even use his size like other NBA players. He'll be another star player who never reaches finals and loses every year to a better PG or 6'6+ star.
I hope trae bulks up like giannis and gets defense or at least uses his speed on the perimeter
Even a guy like mj respected his coach phil and I don't think he's ever argued with em on the court
@@ansharchkm3056 Giannis in an awful comparison when you have steph who plays the same position, comparable size and has bulked up through the years
Steph has been surrounded by all time talent and is a mediocre defender. I do think he gives effort but he's never been a good defender and gets carried on defense by players like dray and Wiggins. In the past, Klay dray kd Iggy all covered for curry's defensive deficiency. Traes lack of effort is the more concerning part
Before we get too much on Trae's case, let's not forget that Bron is a notorious coach killer too. In fact, he didn't just leave coach's in his wake, he left franchises in the dust too. MJ got his first coach fired also. So did Magic. And Magic did that even after he won a title and Finals MVP. Sure, having a diva player sucks, but if he's good enough, it may still be worth it. The question everyone should be asking is... is Trae worth it?
The answer is no. If I were the GM of the Hawks I'd trade Trae for picks and a couple of solid players while he still has value.
Man you just mentioned MJ, LeBron and Magic and then asked is trae in the same league lmao

Even when he left the heat people keep saying he had dwade and bosh but not knwing dwade and bosh weâre both out of their prime and lebron was carrying them the last 2 years especially in the finals the last year dwade was avg 15 with horrible fg% and bosh was on his last leg. Thatâs why when he left they were struggling to even make it to the playoffs. When he left the cavs again in 2018 come on now we know they had no business being in the playoffs let alone the finals . When lebron left the teams were bad because lebron was the reason the teams were great. Did you know that 2007 cavs team in the finals and 2018 cavs team in the finals had the top 5 worst offense ratings when lebron wasnât on the floor without him they were both the worst in the league and with him they were #9 and #7 in the league thatâs what lebron does.

Just tough to be hungry when you earn more in a year than most people in their whole life at such a young age. Money as motivation only brings you that far. Look at Luka, he's got that dawg in him. Can't learn that, you're born with it. I'd bet all my money that Trae never gets a ring, never ever.
I'm going go wild if Trae Young demands a trade next. đ€Ł
Every player on the Warriors will sacrifice their body to give Steph Curry a screen to get him get a better shot. As is frequently noted, Curry is the one superstar who puts his body on the line and screens for his teammates. (His back screens on bigs are amazing and effective.) He also looks to reward other players when they put themselves in a position where they can get an easy bucket. (Either an open three or a lay-up under the basket.) The unselfish nature of Curry is contagious. He "inspires" team loyalty.
Trae wants to be Steph, but he is not. Talent aside, he will never be Steph if he does not instill team loyalty.
As I am not a Hawk's fan, I suspect Trae Young is seeing a dip in his efficiency because his teammates are not willing to sacrifice their body (and/or their stats) for a man who appears to be taking more (from his team and teammates) than he gives.

Trae is very good and at moments he's great. He still has quite a long road ahead of him to be truly great. Hawks is another franchise that has very short list of accomplishments in the recent years and unfortunately Trae is not the guy to change that. He's asked to be the face of the franchise and unfortunately Trae simply is not a leader. It also doesn't help that Trae gives you Kyrie vibes... it's simply not compatible with the average Joe's.

I'm a big fan of Trae Young but not sure what point your post makes. What was the Hawks record during Trae Young's first two seasons with the team? The Hawks improved record the last several years isn't just on Young, they also added Capel who is argueably as valueable if not moreso than Young to the team. , Bogi + Gallo + DJ Murray this year etc. It's a completey different roster from the one you are referencing so can't say you should credit just Young for the turnaround.

The season presents a new challenge that Trae probably wasn't ready for. đł He's seems to like being a 30pt 10ast guy. He likes being the guy who sets everyone up for good looks while getting his own points. At some point this season, Trae has to realize that the Hawks don't need that from him anymore.
