Reviving my Original RC4wd TF2 and Going Head to Head with the C2X, Scale Crawlers

  • After a lot of effort to try and make my linked TF2 chassis work under the heavier RC4wd 4Runner body, its time to face the facts and get the old red hilux back on its chassis, where it works so well. Then we put it head to head with the new rc4wd c2x to see how the RTR class 2 truck compares to the fully modified TF2 chassis. Dollar for dollar the C2x is the better deal, but this no expense spared tf2 is am unstoppable beast!

    It’s amazing to see an old TF2 beat out the “comp” setup.

    Your rc vehicles look realistic. Great work!

    Enjoy the crawlers out and about so much, even if it is just in the garden, both of them in their own right look epic and they are seriously awesome, very nice filming & driving, any plans for scale driver figures, RC4WD does stock them you must know, inspired by the great 4 x4 figure of 'yesteryear', so overall thank you RC Everyday 😁👍

    Good comparison. Seemed at least for what you were crawling that the C2X's longer wb was it's biggest hold back. Hope you get the 4Runner body mounted on a chassis soon so we can have some more overland adventures to watch.

    Cool video! Keep 'em comin', my man!
    BTW - The C2X comes with the newer white tire foams that usually only come with their newest compound (X2S³) tires. They are definitely firmer than the older grey foams. I noticed this when I redid the wheel bolts trying to keep the tires from spinning on the wagon wheels... My C2X still hasn't hit the trail, still modding it - I got the C2X-specific narrow sliders, Vanquish VS4-10 plastic front bumper, plain aluminum diff covers, and am still deciding on the electronics to install. Also using other wheels and tires, the C2X setup is currently being used on my basically stock Enduro Sendero.

      Why not drive it before modding… then you know what you need.

      Not sure why you felt the need to comment here 4 YEARS after the fact? 🤣

    Awesome comparison video! It looks to me like the C2X is suffering from a lack of center clearance. (Even though the skid is smooth) I'm thinking longer shocks or shorter towers! And speaking of keeping it scale, the body looks too high on the chassis, I think it should appear to be sitting on the center portion of the chassis. The TF2 definitely dominated the terrain. I have the TF2 LWB which has 12.3" wheelbase, body lift,4.75 tires on 1.9 wheels ,full interior with steel roll cage, steel roll bar in the bed,Dinky RC lo-pro skid, and RC4WD hitch mount. 2 years in, the leafs are broken in and it articulates well. My SCX10 clone is a short wheel base (Jeep 2dr) and the two are pretty equal.

    I really liked the tire wrinkle on the Trail Finder 2 when it went over the rocks. What brand or set up is that?

    Get the GCM Racing scale driveline, it makes the TF2 platform AMAZING!!! I do great with mine every year at ECSC in class 1, and on leaf springs.

    Try Sugru “moldable” glue for your snorkel.it can hold the top piece of funnel onto snorkel & be a bit flexible

    your red tf2 is great, I don't think you'll get that level of performance out of the c2x without doing your suspension mods and spending some dough. supposed to be class 2 comp ready? the hilux sure is though! loved the running tf2 vs c2x

      Im liking it, made a lot of changes though. Just like buying an scx10 and putting a hard body on it. Had to tweak the suspension to handle the weight. It pretty dialed in now and much more capable.

    Do you have a link to the front bumper on your 4Runner, I have the Marlin crawler, the bumper off the marlin crawler bumper will not work, unless there is some sort of adjuster ,

    • @RCeveryday
      @RCeveryday  Před 4 lety

      It was the rc4wd warn (i think) bumper. It has been discontinued and replaced with something similar. The mount has been shaved down to tuck it in closer to the body
