My flight was once delayed for over an hour because a passenger needed something urgently from their checked bag, so we all had to wait at the gate for the case to be dug out. After an hour, the staff keep asking what item they should bring from the bag and the passenger decided they didn’t actually need it after all. It was weird and I’m sure some people missed their connections that day 😕

The TSA does not require you to have your medication in its original prescription bottle, so traveling with a pill case does not violate any rules. You will also generally not have to tell the officers about your medication unless it is a liquid.

With not packing coffee beans - it makes lot of . However, I suggest there is an exception to this. If you are flying into Darwin International Airport (very very small by international standards- more like a regional airport) Australia from Dili International Airport Timor Leste (even smaller), I think the quarantine and custom officers expect a certain number of passengers will be bringing coffee into Australia. Timor grows a lot of coffee. It it is very good, usually organic and cheap. I used to bring back 5 to 8 kilograms of coffee with me from Timor to give as gifts.
Australia has very strict quarantine laws, and you are expected to declare any food items. However, I remember coming back into Darwin once to be greeted by one of the quarantine offices saying over and over again to the passengers arriving from Timor Leste, ‘ other than coffee, do you have any food items?’😊

Had an issue with a Delta flight back in the 1990s. Our bags were still in Atlanta which had only one flight to St. Thomas daily. My girlfriend was *mortified* to be wearing the same outfit she had on the day before. On the flight back, the same thing happened. If you can manage, include some jammies and a change of clothes in the carry-on as well as your meds.

Interesting! I always have my meds in pill sorters so I don't forget if I took them or not, and I've never been asked about them on domestic OR international flights. I do mail order, and the bottles they come in are always huge and barely filled. They're in small round plastic sorters in my personal bag.

    • @Jahadyn
      @Jahadyn Před měsícem

It's just luck. If Customs decides to search your bags and they find that sorter and you do not have the prescriptions, you WILL almost certainly have a problem. Even if none of them are narcotics, you will find yourself held in Customs for hours while they determine that.

Passengers are allowed to put prescription pills in other than original containers, such as tiny ziplock pill bags. I have traveled internationally as well as domestically (USA to Europe and within U.S.) last year (2022)and will be doing so again domestically a month from now and again internationally in 3 months. I do take the original labels and tape them to each tiny bag as proof they're my legally prescribed medications. It's always good to keep prescription info in one's personal item and labeling medication so there's no mixups. I haven't had any issues whatsoever in doing so with any U.S. based airline or that of another within Europe. I've only just recently discovered and subscribed to your channel so I'm catching up on this year and last year's vids☆ p.s. I do everything to save space and only travel with carry on and personal item no matter how long a trip. 👍

I really like your travel tips channel, it is very informative, relevant, well-detailed, organized, and visually entertaining.
I for one still consider myself a newbie when it comes to travel. I’m 70 and my first international flight was only about 10 years ago; to date, i’ve been to germany and italy, with more to come, hopefully, and all of your tips and insights i’m taking seriously and to heart.
Part of the problem for many people like myself is, that we don’t travel frequently enough to remember all of your tips and advice, so we make repeated mistakes; therefore, i’m taking a ton of notes that i will review each time i travel.
Just recently, i’ve updated my global entry pass and my passport pass, i have a few more years before my passport expires, and oh yes, i reup my tsa pre-check status, so i’m up to date on all of those little nasties that can ruin an otherwise good and fun trip.

Decrease amt of every day / non expensive clothes (etc) by shipping to destination (usps, ups fedex, etc) and back rtn. If it's a hotel call them to give heads up and permission. Insure the stuff. Call your shipper choice to get estimate time to send. If holidays be prepared to ship even earlier. Most shipping this way can still cost less than extra baggage fees.

I'm in Thailand. I have been going to the pharmacies looking for Valerian, which they usually have, but here on Samui everyone is saying, "You want Valium?" One also had ritalin in her OTC bag of tricks, but I don't think that would have helped me sleep.

It pays off to have friends or family that know this knowledge kinda easy access of what or not expected in certain areas and what changes hey faster access than news or even Google 😉😀😄 so you won't make no no no remember each state is totally different and always be flexible unless you plan walking home or arrested 😉😊 so no drama queens hint hint for any travelers so where ever you go check your area where you plan to stay unless you want to have wrong communication and you only damage your own self 😉.

Also colgate (and others) make a waterless disposable toothbrush/paste (I keep in my car for emergencies) that are perfect for brushing teeth in a pinch I take those with me in addition to a regular toothbrush and mini toothpaste (I get those from my dentist for free).

Most theft on checked baggage is from ground crew. Most ground crew are from a contract company and much lower pay than the airlines pay scale.

I've given up on bringing any toiletries on the plane at all. When I land, I go get what I need, or the better hotels have all of it for me. That includes vapes as well.
Some states, THC is legal, so dont bring that with you, just hit the dispensary when you land, and get what you want, but dont stock up, get what you think you will use during your visit, because you cant take THAT home with you, either. Just my experience.

I had a 2 gallon bag of origional Rx bottles in my backback. I was trying to put back in my backpack and Delta charged me $25 because I had 3 bags. They could clearly see it was all medication. The pressure to hurry on plane i paid it was very ticked off at Delta!!
