A couple of notes: 1) the Fifth Harmony members never wrote their songs until their last era because they weren’t given creative freedom from their label 2) I would recommend their BO$$ (acoustic). It’s very edgy and sassy. Unfortunately, a lot of their songs don’t showcase their versatility much which their label wanted them to be a pop group. They are at their best when they’re singing acoustic versions of their songs and covering other songs. But they can pull one heck of a performance. 3) The two you noted bland are technically the best vocalists (the powerhouses) of the group. 4) The group was molded to fit a pop group, so whether you like it or not, all the members had to adjust their voice to the genre, aside from the third girl who pretty much didn’t struggle much in terms of getting lines because her voice fits the genre the best. First, Second, and Fourth girl fit Rnb with a secondary genre (1st girl: Rnb Pop, 2nd: Tropical Rnb, 4th: Rnb Soul) while the last girl is a versatile vocalist. She (last girl) can do and has done multiple genres of music, ranging from pop to Latin to edm to disco. She has a very theatrical voice and is the only member who can sing opera. All of this reflects each member’s solo work as of the moment.
You mentioned liking Lauren’s voice, hers is the husky one. She released her first EP late last year called Prelude and she also recorded a live performance of it. The third singer is Camila Cabello, you've probably heard some of her solo songs. She's got some great performances of Havana (Ellen was a great performance and if you want acoustic, the Billboard Women in Music was great) and Never Be The Same (again any performance of this is great but I'd recommend the one on Jimmy Fallon).
The third one with the amazing breath control is Camila Cabello, the singer of Havana, Señorita, Never be the same, Bam Bam and a lot of more. She continued a very successful solo career.

They have roles in the group, the girl who overdoes it usually makes a lot of runs and the other one is the belter. So they usually stay in their roles.
Think you should do some more female artists, Lisa Stansfield singing All Around the World or Emeli Sande singing Clown would be two good to start with , keep doing what you’re doing

Yes she has asthma, but it only really affected her vocals when she had a flare ups, the most notable one being after she got bronchitis in late 2015 and had complications because she went back to work too quickly. It’s become popular to discredit her vocal talent based on the narrative that she was “always out of breath” because the performances she had the most trouble on were usually televised, but in reality it was only a handful of performances from 2016 to 2017 and she’s never had breathing problems otherwise.
She was never told she over sang. She was always told her tone was too soulful and not pop enough so she tried her best to fit in so that she could get parts… never did unless she added island vocals to her sound.
And yes I agree with you about the 'plainness' you picked up in Ally's vocal. That said, Ally is one of the strongest sopranos of her generation - her high belts and mixed register are UNREAL - she is immensely talented, but her tone is quite plain (as is mine so she has my sympathy)

This performance was legit a last minute performance because megan herself was unable to make it so at the venue they were asked to fill in and they had a few minutes to rehearse. Listen to Dinah Janes fix it, lottery, or heard it all before singles. Or better yet scratch that and listen to her and leona lewis duet together where you can actually hear her voice range.
Even when a song doesn't suit Camila's tone, she really was a standout performer. I don't understand to this day why after so many years, Dinah and even my queen Lauren always seem so out of breath, even during ballads like this.
