    I switched to digital four days ago. I was exactly where you were at. I was always trying to find the "perfect" planner and the "perfect pen" - I have so much sh*t around my house all related to planning. It's only April and I had already switched out my planner three times - each time buying a new one to try and find what I was looking...(and since I didn't know what I was looking for I was in a never ending battle). I feel great making the switch to digital and I'm finding over the last couple days that I can do SO MUCH MORE!! Life changing and I think this was the first weekend in 5 years I didn't go and buy any planner supplies.

      For me it’s not just the black hole of planners- I got addicted to covers and fountain pens and making everything beautiful. It was actually never about planning at all. It was about making other people impressed with my beautiful stuff. So much money wasted. Story of my life. It’s not just planners. It’s jewelry. It’s handbags. It’s everything.

    I switched to cut my ties of my addiction of all planners, and supply’s when I retired. I didn’t know how much I would make per month and had to change my spending. It was the best decision I made, then in October Lizzie showed good notes and I was hooked then I saw you in the side bar with a digital planner and I rushed to your channel and was so happy.

    This is such a true video, and I too am not trying to convert anyone, well in person I am, lol! Truth be told I was scanning through CZcams and saw your video about using a digital planner, I couldn’t sleep watching and learning more and more, and was super excited to move from using my Happy planner, yep couldn’t do the EC and all those stickers, I stayed with some basic sticker and the monthly budget planner which I threw away more than half the pages because they weren’t necessary for what I was doing. When I learned more about the digital planner, ( I just do my budget) after purchasing your digital planner, and GoodNotes, then watching how you used your planner, I was good to go. I keep it simple, however if a busy month comes into my life, I just grab any one of your inserts and bam am done. I actually now get really excited about doing my budget now, takes me no time, using my Apple Pencil is just a jewel, it takes all the whiteout madness away and life is once again easy. I am learning about the Cloud space and where and how to store my planner, which you did give me some advice, now I will get going on saving my planner, like I stated am still writing the important stuff in my Happy planner, however as soon as I get that saving my planner done, it will not even be a thing for me anymore. Sorry this is massive long!

    I totally understand, I tried digital planning back in 2018 and it didn’t work for me. Now, so much has changed since then that I’m in the process of going fully digital. Great points made, I’ve found when traveling there’s less supplies to take and I’m saving so much on photo paper because memory keeping can be done right in my digital planner on the daily pages which rarely get used. Thanks for sharing your experience.

    I’m stuck right now because I use a HP mini for my personal, cloth and paper for work and digital for real estate. Next year I plan to switch to Cloth & Paper mini inserts to resuse my covers and plan to do digital and combine real estate and work digitally next year. Eventually maybe after next year I will think about going all digital but I will say I have slowed down dramatically on hp releases so I’m proud of that and planner things in general. Thankfully I only have 2 planner carts but one of them only has planner stuff on one shelf so if I stopped abruptly I wouldn’t feel too bad considering I got a lot of my books for free.

      That’s a good idea - printing your own! For digital planning, I think the best place to start is to watch digital plan with me’s. That way you can see what it entails. I plan to print my digital planner using a company like Shutterfly at the end of the year. It’s super easy to export your planner pages as images and print them that way. 🥰

I had tried digital planning about two years ago and switched back to paper but seems like every season, Happy Planner was coming out with all these new sticker books and I had to have them but you can’t fix a mistake with paper stickers. I love digital planning because it is cheaper, you can reuse your stickers and fix mistakes with no issue. I am still in the beginning stage of digital planning but I think I will stick with it now.

    From what I've seen and what you've told I don't think digital planning might have the effect as you want it to. You'll still want the newest sticker and feel like missing out.
    I wonder if you had the ipad before or bought it? If you bought it then it will take more then a year for it to truly be cheaper then pen and paper. As you could have challenged yourself to a no-buy and using up your staff.
    About the customizations I would recommend the bullet journal method. Which can be done digital, before you buy a digital planner, there are free once I've heard.
    Otherwise my advice for you is to think about what your planner is supposed to be doing for you, what do you want to do with it. Where do you want to take it, for size?
    And what will you be doing with all the things you already own? Through away?
    About the clutter that can easily happen digital too, you still need to declutter at some point.
    I'm not trying to tell you not to switch, as you said, digital isn't for everyone, I just want to caution you that you could still end up with the same issues if not new ones.
    Digital doesn't work for me because to me it takes longer to take my tablet, open the app then my notebook and then write as to taking pen and paper.
    My friend on the other had feels right at home in Notion and Planning in there. Witch would have been truly free for you. As you like lists and everything, I wonder if that would have been the better option for you.🤔
    I hope you don't regret your decision. I didn't stick to digital planning and I'm glad I got myself a good tablet with not an added name-prisetag aka apple. I have a Samsung FE S7 witch does it's job and is cheap compared to apple. It does have notshelf in case anyone is wondering. I still use my tablet a lot but not what I bought it for. 🙃

      Very good points! It’s been over a year now and I’m still digital planning full time and have zero regrets! I love it - but it’s not for everyone. The main thing is that you have to do what works best for you! 😊

    Interesting video. Honestly, digital planning is so inexpensive. Especially if you start out by DIY-ing your planner using the free downloads available of pages online and also making your own stickers and widgets using procreate and canva, the expense is barely anything.

    Can you do digital planning on a kindle? (amazon fire?) I'm so relating to the FOMO. I consider this my hobby and way to relax; plus it helps me stay organized and functioning lol. How hard was the learning curve on a digital planner if you're not that tech savvy?

    • @PlanningtoProsper
      @PlanningtoProsper  Před 3 lety

      I personally don’t own a kindle fire but if I do in the future I can definitely plan something! I would recommend doing a search on CZcams for some videos related to that. It took me a couple weeks i would say to get really comfortable with it! I watched a ton of CZcams videos and practiced practiced practiced! I find it to be pretty easy myself and I don’t consider myself to be tech savvy by any means 😂

    • @PlanningtoProsper
      @PlanningtoProsper  Před 2 lety +1

      Definitely! The phone syncs but if someone wants to use their device as a planner to write on - something that mimics pen and paper more - the iPad is the way to go in my opinion.

    With digital planning, is there a way to sync it with google calendar?

    • @PlanningtoProsper
      @PlanningtoProsper  Před 9 měsíci

      It depends on the app you are using - the only one I know of so far is Zoom Notes. Some digital designers add links for Google Calendar in their planners but it only opens the app - it doesn’t sync with it. I hope this helps! 🥰

  • @IzahH17

    You might not have been a pen n paper girl to start with. I tend to buy one and commit to the planner for the year no matter what because it’s supposed to help me be productive. It is still a waste where I don’t keep the planner as memory keeping and throw it after. But I haven’t bought stickers in years.
