  • Inside the Cathedral of St. John the Divine (filmed on June 1, 2023)
The Cathedral of St. John the Divine is the mother church of the Episcopal Diocese of New York and the seat of its bishop. The original design, in the Byzantine Revival and Romanesque Revival styles, began construction in 1892. It’s columns are now illuminated in bright, beautiful rainbow colors for Pride Month. It is located at 1047 Amsterdam Avenue in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City, between West 110th Street and West 113th Street.

I was a stone carver there. My work is at the front portal and the south tower. Thanks for the memories!

Before you judge, remember that there are three very large faiths in the world, they are: Roman Catholic Church, Orthodox Catholic Church and Anglo-Catholic Church (Anglican)

WOW, look how few chairs they need! Look at all that unused nave space! Most of it seems to be a quasi-museum erected in a desperate attempt to not have it appear to be exactly what it is--a disused, empty building. But they have the rainbow colors on the columns, so I guess it's okay. The Episcopal church is dying, but they have the rainbow colors. Congratulations.
This alleged cathedral will never be finished. The Episcopal church will be extinct long before that.
