Surprising my Fiancé in Japan with Private Valentine's Day Hot Spring

- How hot are Japanese hot springs? I've never been completely comfortable with public bathing in Japan, but hot springs are a big part of Japanese culture and I think I need to get used to it. See me and my finance rent a private Valentine's Day Couple's Hot Spring , also called onsen, n Japan. Can I get used to it or will it be more than I can handle?

Originally this channel was formed around the CZcams language learning community. Last month it went from 250k subs to another 250k new subs from the Japan vlog community. The channel is now split right down the middle and I’m having trouble pleasing both audiences at the same time. I’m still thrilled to have our unique situation on CZcams. I’ll do my best to mix up the content, it’s more fun that way anyway 😊 -Anming
You do what you want to do Anming 😀.
@@paulk4662 Yup, that's the rule. You do it for yourself, not for the others
Don't worry you can do both, for sure the original language subscribers like myself enjoy seeing all the cultural videos. Thanks it's interesting to see Japan from your point of view. I hope you do a video of your wedding also. 👍🏻✌️🤗
Good luck 🍀 on figuring out what works best for you and your channel! Hopefully you have fun on the journey regardless!!
THANK YOU 🙏 ORIENTAL PEARL FOR ALL THE AWESOME VIDEOS!!! 👏🔥🥊
I like the variety.
Originally I came for the language side of things, but I'm loving all aspects of your channel. Keep it up and congrats.
I’m glad to hear that. I like to mix it up.
@@OrientalPearl Please continue doing so! Always remember: People stay where they feel 'at home' so to speak. For example I came to your channel because of - obviously - Japan and the language part of it. But I stayed for the content around YOU and your experiences in this beautiful country! It's great to have someone you can relate to and therefore the interest switched from languages & Japan to YOU and YOUR experience in this country! It's both entertaining and educating to watch and this special mix is exactly what defines YOUR channel. Long story short: Just keep doing what you're doing! All the best from Germany =)
@@OrientalPearl is it cultural in Japan to wear engagement rings in the middle finger? congrats btw
Same! 🥰
Same
Thanks for allowing us another glimpse into your personal life. This was a fun vid and glad to see you relaxed and happy. 😃
Thanks for watching! I enjoyed making this video.
@Oriental Pearl ms blond-ie can you make new you tube chan and talk about your sex life and teach men about no fap and ✝️ every seed. When we see blonde girl we think that she should know about sex so if you can share some in sight thank you.
So cool!! My girlfriend and I dream of going to Japan for our honeymoon. Staying at a ryokan like this would be amazing.
You would love it! Get the private onsen, otherwise you’ll be in separate baths.
I really liked the intro! ^^
No worries about "pleasing" your audience. You should just make the videos you enjoy making, and the right audience will come to you
Keep up the good work!
Only in an ideal world where the algorithm doesn’t exist 😊

@@OrientalPearl I just read your post, and I had no idea that CZcams is basically your main job at this moment. I didn't know.
Sorry for my ignorance, it must be a real struggle then.
I can only speak for myself here, but I really like all of your content, so I'll keep supporting you no matter what ^-^
As a German, I have a very special feeling about Japan: as long as Japan is impossible for tourists to visit, I feel like an East German before the fall of the Berlin Wall. Only through Western German television it was possible to make a trip to Western germany. Therefore your videos are now my Western German Televison and my memories of my trips to Japan in the Kansai region come alive again. Thank you very much!
I’m glad that you can live vicariously through these videos.
Why is Japan impossible to visit?
@@RTYB covid, they didnt open up yet. Basically if you were out of japan when covid started you're screwed
I feel like what my parents told me about history when they were in Western Germany and half of the family were in Eastern Germany and we couldn't visit each other because of the Comunism thing...
I was born in 2001(idk to much about what happend before because i didn't lived through it)....my parents where there when the berlin wall got wrecked:)
They finally opened up
Anming, thanks for being real. I've always wanted to go to a little place like this and it was fun!
Here in Hawaii, we had/have some Japanese TV programming called Soka Ga Japan and/or Soka Ga Shiritai. It is so much fun to watch as these people go to different places in Japan and interject themselves into the lives of the local people to see what their life is about. This kinda had that vibe to it and I can see you doing more exploratory videos in the future. It would be awesome if you could do that for Japan and China!
I didn’t know about that program. Thanks for sharing it.
This place is beautiful! But 200$ per person isn't cheap. Considering how high the salaries are where I'm from... AnMing, please do more videos about rural and provincial Japan. It's so stunning there.
I love visiting the countryside! More of those coming soon. This trip was full of rural visits.
ikr 200$ is literally my monthly salary :')
But that's just my country's problem
For Japan its very good I think.
While Anming didn't mentioned what are included in her $200 rate, my own experience of staying @ various onsen ryokan(literally hot spring inn) across Japan is that unless u specifically choose to exclude, dinner+breakfast are ALWAYS included in the rate. Anming also apparently added options like room service meals and private outdoor onsen in the garden of her room.
That's a lot of stuff for US$200 per night which is likely still cheaper than a standard room only @ Holiday Inn, Marriott or Hilton in LAX or Shinjuku(i.e. downtown Tokyo) for examples.
@@OrientalPearl Thank you!
Looks like you both had a wonderful romantic getaway! This is what life is all about, sharing your life with the one you love.
I agree completely!
Congrats on the engagement! This video was a feel good time. All the best to you two
Thank you so much!
I love that you are trying things to get out of your comfort zone. I really want to go to an onsen now!!
That’s what it’s all about! You might like onsen.
Your videos are always so well done. The music, the directing of editing, everything. Very engaging!
Thanks so much! I’m been working hard to improve the quality.
Speaking from a lucky married mans point of view - You have no idea how much he loves you! ❤️ I absolutely love your future together. Trust me he's thinking before he goes to sleep every night how lucky he is to have you. ❤️
He’s a sweetie. I’m glad he’s always up for an adventure.
Happy Valentine's Day! The chocolates looked divine. That was such a lovely place to stay with a private onsen. I hope to try out the onsen experience one day. You both looked like you had so much fun together. Just a little slip here and there to watch out for, the ice can be deceptively hidden under the snow lol!
The funny thing is that they were really simple chocolates. Tommy is allergic to nuts, so I had to be careful.
@@OrientalPearl Oh, that makes sense. It's best to be safe!
Yes! More Tommy, just what I needed. Can you teach Tommy some more slang and funny English sometime?
I’m sure he would be up for that!
I love your videos! I have been learning/teaching myself Japanese for a couple of years now. I love the culture, the food, the language, and country, everything! Thanks for such cool and helpful content! Keep em' coming!
Thanks for watching Heather! I hope I can help you with your Japanese studies.

Found you a while back and thoroughly enjoyed the language learning stuff. Videos started popping up again about a year or so later and caught up on the stuff I missed. Now I'm enjoying the Vlog stuff as well!
I hope you subscribe and put the notification bell on so you don’t miss the new adventures.
It was Japan's cars and their car culture that piqued my interest in learning more about the country and goal to one day to visit and experience everything there. In my opinion they produced many of the best automotive and technological innovations in the whole world.
This video brought back fond memories of my time living in Japan. Enjoying all your videos!
I’m so glad that this video brought back memories for you!
I love how we're able to have a glimpse of your casual and personal life and at the same time learn more about the little things in Japan. Love your videos ❤️❤️❤️ keep it up 👍👍👍
I’m glad that you like these personal videos. I like sharing these moments.
Your happiness and laughter are so infectious ! I loved this video, it felt so comfortable but I also learned a lot! Thank you so much for the content you make:)
Thank you so much for watching! It was a blast to make this video.
Your my new favorite youtuber showing japan and language learning, I love how authentic you are, I hope you never change 💕 and I admire how smart you are for learning multiple languages and being in college in there countries. I look forward to seeing Japan someday and You encourage me to start learning Japanese again
Aww. You’re so sweet!
I love the variety in your videos. The language and business portions are great. I especially love today’s video! So much fun and so much learning - thank you for sharing your life and experiences with us. It makes my own life much richer and broader. Keep up the good work!!
I’m so glad that you liked today’s video so much!
I believe that the language learning community should also enjoy culture learning.
I like how learning a language and the culture ties in together.
With your upcoming marriage I believe it will be very interesting to show the traditions that you two combine when you combine your lives together.
Yeah for sure! I want to see more people outside their rooms and out enjoying other cultures.

Loved this, again it was cool to see something a big more personal.
I saw your comment and a mix of vlogging and language is definitely good. Best of both worlds. Though I came here for the language I actually love vlogs too, so win win and I'm sure there are others that feel the same! Keep it up
I’m glad that you’re enjoying the vlogs too. I’d like to keep doing a mix of both.
Happy Valentines Day!!! I always enjoy your videos and Tommy content is super appreciated. I really enjoyed seeing you play the instrument.
More videos like this to come. It makes me want my violin back badly.
I really enjoyed this video. The whole video seemed a different quality...well done you! Being engaged seems to suit you well, your energy and spirit is lighter and more at ease. You seem so happy! Lovely to see.
Thanks! I’ve been trying hard to improve the video quality and I stopped using the go pro so much.
Awesome (as usual). Your personality is so honest and straightforward that I think you'd fit in with whatever culture you decided to live in. I sincerely wish you both all the best. (P.S. Being from the USA, you do realize we're expecting some Van Halen "licks" on the GUZHENG in the future).
Thank you so much! I want to fit in with the locals wherever I go.
Thanks for introducing me to Japanese culture. Always interesting to learn new things.
Would love to try out such an onsen.
The breakfast looked so absolutely delicious.
That breakfast was great. I’m glad we switched from the dinner course to breakfast course instead.
I'm from Sweden and thinks this is a lot of snow 😂

Congratulations on being engaged!
I love all of your content! Thank you so much for sharing all that you do! You’re the best! ❤️❤️
Thank you for watching! I hope you enjoy all 122 videos!
This makes me so homesick for Japan. Having honeymooned at the base of Mt Fuji with all the same things shown here I can’t wait to return. A beautiful country. Thank you Anming for all your amazing videos!
I hope you can return soon.
@@OrientalPearl Me too! I have friends in Tokyo and Kobe. It’s my 10 year wedding anniversary in 4 years time so saving hard. Can you recommended somewhere nice to stay? Love your videos btw. They’ve kept me going through the pandemic. Much love.

Awww, I’m glad it warmed you heart a little.
The scenery looked so beautiful. I love both styles of content!! So I'm happy either way 😊
Thank you so much! I’ll keep doing a mix of both.
I'm so excited for you two! I would love to try that breakfast. This was a fun video and a nice diversion from the usual content. I think that was a shogi board and those were Go tiles. Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Thanks! We are super excited too!
I thought it was Go because of the Go Stones. And it looked like a Go board. Does Shogi and Go use the same board?
@@jgabides That's a go board, 19x19 lines. Shogi boards are smaller, 9 rows and columns (1 bigger than chess).
Been here since almost day one & loved the content. Thank you for sharing this harmonious, cultural, loving & laughter filled part of your life with us. I’m very excited to learn more of your professional & personal journey! Much love!
Thank you for being here this whole time.
Happy belated Valentine's day! Looks like you both had a wonderful time.
I love staying at ryokan. And the onsens are amazing! Definitely the way to go if on the Shikoku henro michi. Dont worry, in public onsen, you'll probably never see the same people again. Just act like no one is looking at eachother. It's all good!
This is a good point. You’ll probably never see them again lol.
I love you showing us about the relationships you have with friends and family. Thank you for showing us this side of your life
I love Japanese culture So much🥰
it's really cool to see life in Japan and learn more about it. I would love to see more of your vlogs. I also think that you can do a little bit of privacy, like when you were in the Onsen.
"You should share."
"No!" 😂🤣 You guys are great. Hopefully the trip itself was a fun one. Thankfully you didn't fall there either at the end. 😁👍🏽

idk if you ever made a video like this, but what about "speaking to my fiancé in English for 24 hours" or maybe even Chinese? I just think it would be so cute and funny :)
lots of love from Germany!!

Thank you. We are really excited.
thanks for sharing. you both look very happy together, hope you have a great trip
Thank you for sharing your Valentines day with us, I never knew that men get chocolate from women (but women can always steal a piece or two)! Your trip looked really fun and the meal...oooh-la-la !
That’s right! Don’t worry, I’ll get my chocolate on March 14th, which is “White Day” in Japan.
My soon to be 6 year old son has a dream of visiting Japan. We just discovered your videos and he LOVES them. One day I hope to make his dream come true. So much beauty to see and experience!
Amazing!!! I love Japan's countryside!
lol. You have way more snow there than we have in southwest Michigan
I know right! I was shocked.
Looks like you both had a wonderful time together, I hope to trip to the hotel was pleasant.
When I was in Aomori, I went to a hot bath, there were cold showers surrounding the bath... very low on the wall. One was to sit on a small plastic seat while using it. I went from the bath to the shower many times.. the hot then cold was very relaxing. The snow was very deep in Aomori when I was there... Fun times. Safe travels guys, thanks for sharing!
I’m glad that this video brought back memories for you.
Happy Valentine's Day 💐 my dream trip to Japan 🇯🇵
Your fiancé looks so blissed out in that massage chair lol that entire experience looks so beautiful 😍
Side note- I’m with others on that I came here for the language aspects, but I am so loving the full cultural experience you’re sharing. Thank you for letting us in on glimpses of your life.
Those chocolates look so delish 😋
I'm not into languages or travel, I don't watch anything like this at ALL so I have no idea why I was recommended your videos a little back, but I have to say I'm VERY glad to be one of your subs now. Your videos are so interesting and I love getting a glimpse into this beautiful culture and your life over there. And you have a wonderful spark about you that is quite rare, I think that's the main thing that keeps drawing me back to watch your videos. Keep up the great work and thank you!
Thanks for your comment Rachel. I’m happy to have you as a subscriber!
I think you're doing a great job satisfying both the language learning side and the cultural, travel vlogger of Japan. The language learner enjoys hints and seeing you using the language in everyday life. The traveler part of me enjoys that you show things in Japan that I either didn't know existed, or didn't have time to see. I was wanted to visit some traditional onsen's in Japan but time, location and price must align and it didn't happen. I really want to go to Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan which is the oldest onsen in Japan and the oldest hotel in world run for over 50 generations by the same family. As expected it not the cheapest accommodation, it takes effort to get to it's location, and my travel partners voted me down.
So, this was a fun video as you and Tommy baste or poach your selves in your own private bath. The onsen ryokan you spent the night at would suit my esthetic.
So liked the language school Instagram posts, your interests seem either align with, or anticipate my interests. Your posts are insta clicks and worthy of a view or two.
Glad you and Tommy had a good time. Great video.
Thank you Jim! I’m trying my best. It’s hard to find a good onsen at a price that doesn’t break the bank. We had to go way out to the middle of nowhere to find this place. I hope you have a chance to come back and give it a try. We have some great recommendations for you.
A public Onsen was, definitely one of my more, unexpected, experiences when visiting Japan.
Friends organised it and at the last minute the guy did not go in, meaning I was flying solo.
Changing walking through with the tiny towel to suddenly encounter female staff was..... Unique!
But the different "baths" where phenomenal and truly relaxing.
It was culture shock for me the first time for sure.
@@OrientalPearl beautifully presented though, and yes the heat. Omg!
Miss onsen in Japan, especially in Winter time. But from my experience, onsen ryokan are usually busier in summer time, it is kind of strange since the water is so hot, I found it more enjoyable in Winter time! So your onsen package only include breakfast with $200 ? Nice video!
You’re right. It’s because people are on summer vacation.
I love watching your channel!! I feel like it’s a much more personal view on being a foreigner in Japan than some other channels I watch(and still love) there’s just so much Japan content to consume yet I can’t get enough!!
2:34 I almost got poked in the eye there, geez lady, careful 😂
Supportive of your channel and growth!!!! You’re a very clear and talented communicator
Happy belated valentines from Canada
As a American when I hear something about Japan, I always think of The Empire Of Japan.
i always think of lost in translation.
i wish i was there that chocolate looks good
omg! I'm from Detroit, Michigan, too! That's so cool!🤩
Also, hello! :3 I'm kind of a new-ish subscriber to your channel, and I absolutely love your videos!
I've learned so many new things about Japan since I started watching them. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge on this beautiful country.
I hope one day my Fiancé and I can visit Japan. We love the culture, the history, the art, along with many other things, including the food. lol
Nice video👌👈💕...
Pearl!! Shogi is a different game than Go (what you were playing with your fiancé) - just noticed that was the subtitle - Shogi is like Japanese chess (although technically Go is more complicated, in a way that a supercomputer is years behind in Go than in traditional chess simply due to the sheer number of possible moves and outcomes)
Also really fun vid!
Great and very relaxing adventure!! The place is stunning and interesting place to visit.
Well done and thanks for sharing your precious experience.
its so nice to see you happy with someone you love!!! congrats for you both :D
Each one of your videos is amazing! Thanks for the work you do and have been doing 💘
Aww thank you so much! I’m trying to improve.
That was fun to watch. I like your personality and enjoy language or vlog videos. It looked like you had a good time. I appreciate that you shared a part of that with us.
Thank you so much. We had a blast.
I came here long ago for the language learning but wane off a bit after the fad was over. Now that I’m realizing this a channel dedicated to showing her actual life in Japan I’m back in! To be honest what kept me watching from time to time after I was a bit done with language videos was An herself. I really liked this video and the nugget of info about how the chocolates are returned on the wedding day was super cool. Whatever she chooses in the future as her job, I hope we get to still see her life here and there.
I’m glad that you enjoyed this video. Please visit more often.
Congrats OP
I didn’t even know you were going steady.
All the best!!!
Be good to our gal Mr. OP.
Thank you so much.
When I was on a business trip last November, me and my wife went to a Japanese bath hot springs and it was amazing.
I’m glad that you loved it too!
So cool! Happy for both of you. Looks like your trip was very relaxing and fun. On my upcoming visit to Japan I might consider this by myself!
Thanks for all the videos good luck in your new life together.
Wooow that train station platform was covered in snow! I loved this little vlog 🤍
Happy Valentine’s Day 💓💓
Anming and Tommy, Japanese Ryokan experience was one of my joys while living in Japan. The Country or “Inaka” is where I found my own Japanese Inner Heart and Spirit. Even though I am an American who lived in Japan for four years, Japan still lives in me!
I love Inaka too!
Your videos are educational, funny, you are fun to watch. I like the way you express yourself!
Looking forward to more videos!
Thank you! I’m working on editing new ones right now.

Love the vlogs keep them coming!
I don’t mind whatever direction you decide to take your channel I’ll still rock with it.
Thanks for your support!
loved the koto part- amazing artwork in the place
We dont get that kind of snow often in Detroit but if you travel up North Michigan like Cadillac and Traverse City we get competitive amounts of snow. Michigan weather is similar to Hokkaido's.
Ha ha, until you see the mountains here. That breaks world records.
I like how she translates Itadakimasu into Bonappetit-- which is also not an English word.
This is true. Ha ha, but now it’s so common it’s a part of English.
Bon appétit ...🤗
Honestly, I liked you from Kelly's content and just subbed because of that. I do like Vlogs more but I do enjoy your language content as well, you are much more outgoing than me hahaha
That’s cool. We went to middle school and high school together. Used to sit in the lunchroom and chat everyday at school.
Hi! I hope things are going better with your channel and subscribers. I really love this video… I don’t know about others, but I really love the videos where are you share your experiences with your fiancé!
We haven't gotten that much snow this year here in the thumb of Michigan so far. however the Upper Peninsula has gotten 219.5inches or 557.53cm so far this season.
That’s crazy. Aomori has one of the highest average snowfalls in the world.
Congrats !! 4:00 reminded me of me training karate :,) always had to have my hair up and I didnt know this...
Really fun video! Always like your stuff, and honestly I like the split. Your content should evolve as you do. We’ll still be watching!
Thanks Dallas. I’m glad that you enjoy both types of videos.
I love both sides of the channel, keep up what you enjoy!
Dear Anming: Keep up the good work! I feel you for slipping on ice! I live in NYC now. But my Air Force family lived for three years in Misowa & part of that time on the area Air Base. We were located at the northern most tip of Honshu just across from Hokkaido! We had built in rooftop hatches which we would push snow off & open to get out when the snow was drifting higher than the top of our front door! Then my dad (usually) would go shovel out & open the 7 foot high front door & clear off the sidewalk to our car, etc! It snowed prodigiously!
Great Winter Memories of snow-people, igloos, sledding & snowball fights!
I sipped on the ice way more than just once on this trip lol.
Such a sweet video! HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!! 💕💕 Thank you for sharing your lives with us 💜💜
Thank you for visiting again! Happy Valentine’s Day.

OMGGG A KOTO!!!!!! I absolutely LOVE this instrument!!!
I want one in my house. Bet the neighbors would complain though. Lol
As I previously mentioned - I, too am from Detroit, Michigan and I as well have not seen that much snow before.😅
It's crazy how height it is along the buildings/homes.
OMG! I can not count the amount of times I've slipped and/or fallen from the ice in Michigan! I relate so much! lol !🤣
