  • Today I speak about common mistakes that people might make in their DClin Apps, either through my own experience on consulting on supporting statements in general, or mistakes I would not repeat if I were to complete the applications again.

    The listing issue resonated with me, but it's not coming from insecurity it's coming from a place of extremely hard work in the healthcare industry for many years, to the point that it cancelled some aspects of my personality. I often feel that my work is me. It's of course maladaptive and hearing you mention this gave me a good clue on how to write future personal statements. Thanks a lot!

    Your videos are so helpful and this is particularly useful right now in the stressful application writing times! I was wondering if you wouldn't mind just answering a quick question - at around 7:00, you mention picking a few core experiences that have shaped you as a clinician and to expand on these/say what you've learnt from them. Would you suggest actually describing the details of these experiences first then or just maybe briefly mention the theme of the experience and what that has taught you? (Sorry if that doesn't make sense) and thanks again!

    • @TheOxfordPsych
      @TheOxfordPsych  Před 3 lety

      Either works! I focused on theme.

    Hi! This is super helpful, I have started my application today, and its the first time I am applying. I am currently a PWP, so my supervisor that knew me the most is a Trainee HIT atm. I know you mention having a Clinical Psych to read your application or have them as a referee, but there is just no psychologist that I currently know well enough to ask for this :(

    I’m applying for an undergrad in psychology. Do you think it would be somewhat of a turn off to mention in my personal statement (or even in my interview for the DClinPsy) that I want to specialize in neuropsychology in the future? (as most neuropsychologist don’t work for the NHS yet the nhs funds the doctorate)

    I've got my interview for University of Liverpool Psychology degree on Monday! 29 years young just starting this journey. Ready for the potential of it being a looooong journey. Also nervous! Any tips in terms of getting work experiance in? I was thinking of volunteering early 1 day a week. Would there be any setting in particular you'd recommend?

    Hi , I have question regarding clinical psychologist and psychiatrist . Whats the work life difference between these two? did you consider going into psychaitry via graduate medicine ? I find it confusing because psychiatrist generally earn more .

    • @e.mchristina5260
      @e.mchristina5260 Před 3 lety

      I'm not the CZcamsr that made this but Clinical Psychiatrists generally earn more because they are also medical doctors and can carry out blood tests and prescribe medication, whereas a clinical psychologist could not
