In my mind Leo looked exactly like Dex. Ambika didn't look anything like I imagined Emma but she was perfect for the role. I actually prefered her portrayal more than Anne Hathaway's but, maybe thats also because I enjoyed the series more too. It was perfect. I binged it fast.
I think the same when I started to watch the film I thought that it would be exactly to the original but it wasn't, I prefer that version of Emma now
Agreed! I loved the movie and very much still do, but after watching the series, I have even more appreciation for the characters, even the supporting ones. With regards to appearances and expectations, I think it just goes to show that even when casting choices are different from what people imagine, at the end of the day it comes down to the writing and acting, and that’s the beauty of retelling this beloved story in the way that the series did.
@@itskarissssI think when it is supposed to show time passing, series does it best. Movie is just too short. It needs more time. 😂
They really nailed Em and Dex! Also Tilly and Ian were runners up for me....great casting!

I couldn't get past Anne Hathways horrible british accent in the movie, but this show was so good
Tbf, Ambika's Yorkshire accent was a bit naff, but at least she only lapsed back into a more southern accent. And she was perfect for Emma, so i was able to look beyond it.
@@jlr108 only Brit's with a keen ear would notice that about Ambika's accent. I'm Scottish and I didn't. 🤣 I thought her portrayal and the series in total was pretty perfect.
@@lolsaXx I just watched the whole series a second time and the accent didn't bother me in the slightest this rounds. I also listened to an interview with Ambika yesterday where she says that, after she got the role, she worked on her accent with a dialect coach and "got it to where it is", sort of implying that she knew it wasn't 100%. But like you say, she was perfect as Emma, so I no longer have any issue with her Yorkshire accent. 😄
