I remember the book and the movie tugging at my heart strings but I agree, this series adaptation broke me repeatedly. I have watched it probably 3 times now and I know exactly where it goes and where it ends and I cry every single time, absolutely heartbreaking and they performed it so well and I think that’s what really carried the emotion compared to the movie.
I remember hearing this series was coming out and being skeptical, but the trailer pulled me in and they just blew me away entirely.

Honestly AMBIKA carried it for me if anything. She was so interesting and unique and her acting was suburb. Obviously Leo too and he had the heart wrenching emotional performances. They both were beyond impressive.
It is absolutely untrue and quite frankly disgusted with people saying she wasn't the right "pick" or that she didn't do as well as Leo. The author of the book (David Nicholls) and everyone who worked with her, including Leo, said She was the right pick, and she was picked out off "300" who auditioned for Emma. THAT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF!!!

Leo's acting was phenomenal, he just took us on a journey of deep pain. I was shocked he is a recent actor, it's been a while since I saw such moving male acting.
This is the show that started so so but got better as each episode went. Towards the end I couldn’t stop, finished the last 5 episodes in one sitting, cried my eyes out with Leo. These two are superb.
Who are these bunch of 13 year old leaving unhappy comments? Both Ambika and Leo were brilliant. Their chemistry was so good. I can’t imagine any other actors in their place. I absolutely loved the series ❤

Actually rewatched some episodes for a second time and caught great acting reactions that I didn't notice the first time. The supporting cast rounded things up nicely

This show was INCREDIBLE. I’m a guy. Just finished it 2 days ago, and I’m still emotionally wrecked 😂 They both did wonderful.
Honestly, I didn’t care much for Leo in the white lotus but man, he did captivate me in his performance for this series.
I must say i am falling in love with Leo not because he is super hot also he is so talented, great actor. He is the soul of the series!

Finished One Day in two days. Really cried towards the end when everybody showed up. So touching!
Ambika was very good, but I think Leo was off the charts. His range of emotions is astounding and his performance through the heartbreak part of the story reminded me of the last 2 minutes of Call Me By Your Name where Thimotée Chalamet looks into the fireplace while his heart breaks down into a million pieces. I'll never forget it, and I think Leo touched that level while mourning for Emma. Incredible.
I totally agree, the different emotions he had to express throughout were so varied and he played each one brilliantly the best being when he lost Emma his performance for a young guy with limited acting experience was incredible, absolutely incredible, one interview I saw said the last episode was shot quite early on in the filming so yeah gotta wonder where he pulled out that unforgettable performance. 💙
Bearing in mind Ambika had the challenge of playing a role that she at first did not think was for her re peoples’ perceptions re her ethnicity. But she played it brilliantly and true to real life. There are now third generation immigrant descendants born and bred in the UK and relate only to being British. So in this story her Asian heritage was hardly mentioned.

If never heard of the book. Spent the weekend binge watching it. I absolutely loved it. Their chemistry is brilliant. Heart-breakingly real, raw, sad, funny.

I was curious to see what it was about after seeing a clip of Ambika on Graham Norton show ( eyes dont shut when sleeping) and stayed till the end.
A beautiful sad love story where you will root for Leo till the end ❤😊 I hadn’t seen the earlier movie nor had i read the book. The show was gripping, well written, beautifully acted and a good looking Leo didn’t hurt at all and yeah! I cried in the end. Good job kids!

Great show! I watched way too many times. But the more interviews I see with Ambika Mod, the more it's clear why she was casted as Emma. She is already beautiful, but her personality amplifies that :) And then Leo making me cry like a baby at the end of the episodes. lol.

They are professionals. You can’t expect to act like they are in love at work. They are also in relationships with other people but they are obviously good friends from their interactions on social media.

Just watched all of this series , omg i bawled my eyes out and its literally had me thinking about it since; i loved the film but these two had me obsessed absolutely brilliant and Leo had me heartbroken that last episode well done all around
I wasn't quite sure at the beginning but oh WOW incredible story with two exceptional actors. Leo AKA Dexter in the last couple of episdoes was phenominal. Sobbing but he's even sexy when he's drunk & off his face! 😂

What? Ambika was good too...as watcher i could easily fall in love with her character, so likable i wanted to hug her. Show was amazing, usually i only cry when i watch kdrama or korean movies, but this was series full of emotions.
I'd not read the book, I went out and got it after viewing this. Both Actors held me to the end, fantastic job, and Graham was right about the show fitting the book, I'd say like a glove! It was so interesting, to watch two pretty confused, broken individuals slowly, but obviously heading in the same direction, loving each other more than they loved themselves!
Agreed Leo is an amazing actor... transports you from one emotion to another. A star is born indeed!
