Ghulam Ali's musical journey spans over six decades, and he is celebrated as one of the greatest ghazal singers of his era. Ghulam Ali's father, a classical singer and sarangi player, introduced him to the mesmerizing melodies of Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. Beyond ghazals, Ghulam Ali has left an indelible mark as a playback singer in Bollywood. Some of his famous ghazals have been immortalized in Bollywood movies, like“Chupke Chupke Raat Din”, “Kal Chaudhvin Ki Raat Thi”,“Hungama Hai Kyon Barpa”,“Chamakte Chand Ko”,“Kiya Hai Pyar Jisé”,“May Nazar Sé Pee Raha Hoon”,“Yé dil yé pagal dil”, “Ham Ko Kiske Gham Ne Maara” and “hum tere shahar mein aaye hain”.
Speaking with UrduPoint anchor Fariha Farrukh, Ghulam Ali Sahib stated that his parents love and prayers put him on that level of life. In Ghazal Genre, Ghulam Ali Sahib's favorite male singer is Mehdi Hassan, and her favorite female singer is Farida Khanum. And his all-round favorite singers are Madam Noor Jahan and Lata Mangeshkar.
Ghulam Ali Sahib went on to say, "Do what no one has done, be different and unique." and talked about meeting with narendra modi, Ghulam Ali Sahib stated that narendra modi met with loves like the ones I received from Pakistan's.
In 2015, his concert in Mumbai was canceled due to protests by Shiv Sena. However, later on, he received invitations from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and performed there.
