Are you ever going to restore or at least make it safe the firebird which is a kinda rare car.
I like the sneaky little Bolts & Nuts plug.... Im guessing they will be showing up in the shop soon 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸
Yes
Derek I didn't see you use any anti-seize? Where is the anti-seize, steel hardware into aluminum requires anti-seize. 👨🔧
I just put all my money in to the gas tank no can do.
VGG? In the middle of a work day? I just can't believe it..... But I guess I've got to, I'm lookin' right at it.
Help me understand!
I'll be dipped!!
I'm just gonna go ahead and watch it. Maz'well
98.85% sure he did
Maz'ell watch
It is always great to see Dad give his son a hug, no matter what is going on, stopping and doing what a man is supposed to do.
God if this wasn’t the truth. I lost my hero last December and what I would do just to walk into the shop and see him working on a car and hug him again. I miss that man every second of my day.

Amen!
I wish I could give this comment 1000 more likes!
I never had a Dad, and it is truly beautiful to see you working with your family - especially your children. I wish I had that. Good job, Derek.
Go Jessica! She's easy to understand, straight to the point and living prof that some mom's know their way around the auto shop too! Keep up the good work Jessica and please do more videos. You're truly a star!
Hell Yes, You go Jessica, You're the Boss. Always make sure you double check Derek's work, sometimes he kinda forgets things ya know. Just call yourself the "Tech Inspector."
@@timglass6041 They are a team, when you talk like that it makes everything weird....why do you people do that to women? They are having fun....don't ruin the Innocence of it.
@@lukemeier1853 because they’re simps. They think she’s gonna read the comments and fall into bed with them
It’s disgusting behavior
@@lukemeier1853 what???

It really warms my heart to see your son helping you in the garage. A father & son bond is precious.
He's a darn good kid with a great mind.
i too wanted to add. I am glad to see a real father, one who actually cares that his kids get to be kids. Being a kid is very important to social development. Derick good job on providing the boys with the toys i would have loved as a kid. Warms my heart.
@@opossom1968 pass that on to your kids one day man ! I bet Derek didn’t have the easiest nicest dad ever that gave him every thing he wanted, and because of that he has learned what his kids will need to succeed in growing up right. So you should do the same for your kids one day, no matter what they’re into.
@@iMaNii4k Good idea Hunter. I have. My daughters 2, are adults. 25 and 33. My wife and I took the time to listen, love, encourage, talk, advise and provide. We never TOLD our girls what to do, we listened to them allowed them to make choices based on the skills we taught them. Cause and Effect. Personal responsibility. Treat others as you would like to be treated.
Speak out for those that can not. Be kind. Be loving. Be confident. Never stop learning and accept criticism use that to be better. Be humble and empathetic. A parent does not know how good a job they did till their kids are Adults. This is when reaping what you sew comes into play. We have good roots in a nice family field. Thank you for your reply. PEACE.
Great video Derek thanks, not sure where in Tennessee you are but if you're ever up in the Hendersonville area bring your sons and wife we have a little car show every Friday night starting in May I got an old Studebaker I bet you like to see
Good to see Jessica working on the motor. Since my wife has watched her getting involved with helping my wife and I spend more time together working on the car.
Love to see dad/mom and kid/s working together, even if he decides not to follow in in dads footsteps he will have a real skill to fall back on anytime he wants!
i was brought up by a drunk horrible, violent father... its so nice to see a good one. what a wonderful guy derek is
Definitely looks like it's coming together. A guy's loving how you you've got Jessica and the kids contributing to this build. Awesomeness!👍😁🏁
Hey Derek, Cleetus was having the same issues with nuts and bolts. He actually made a video on the guys that helped them . It's a well thought out system. They got QR codes for each nut and bolt so when you run out of that certain bolt, you simply scan it and it re orders it. Get in touch with him, I'm sure he will put you in contact with the Nut and Bolt guys. It's the best system I've ever seen to be honest. And they LEGIT have every nut/bolt ever made. It's quite unreal. Even go watch his video, might be on the cleetus2 channel if not the OG channel.
Thanks!!
Dam you beat me to it just sawr comment after i bleep blooped lol
Ya that looked like an awesome setup. Cant remember the guys name
glad i scrolled down to see if anyone had suggested N&B guys. I'll thumb up your post.
I work in fair sized body shop and we use the Wurth system at work. But you can have Napa set up a bank of drawers stocked with clips for you. Wurth is a company that does that for a living
When you hug your Sons and they help you work on your motors...You are making the world better. I am pretty sure you know you are putting memories in their noggins that will make em smile when they are 50.....
Hey Derek, the shops looking good. I like seeing pieces of projects everywhere. If a garage is too clean then you wonder if they actually do any work in there. Lol. Also, just to say it again, I’m very happy for you and your family that you found a house so close to the towns you love in the state you love. Keep up the good work and inspiration. 👍🏼👍🏼
Appreciate your videos..They're the highlight of my day..
Everyone is gonna be jealous of this rig rolling down the road!
Mmmm.....nah. 😂 I'm jealous of brand-new honkin' F-450 King Ranchos, Cummins RAMS, and GM HD Duramax duallies. Those cost more than my house is worth.
Nah, I’m looking at ordering the all new Chevy BlazEr, all electric ⚡️ because Chevy is well known for their high quality control on their Bolt 🔥
@@RustyZipper "High quality control" and Chevy don't belong in the same sentence 😆
@@jeffrykopis5468 Actually yes they do.
I love that Jess can pop in more often on videos now that the shop's at home.
The most relatable part of this video is the sped up montage search for a clean rag . Opening all the drawers.
Felt that in my bones
I love when your son show up to help you give him a hug and let him help. I think a lot of kids don't get the love they need .one fo the reason I watch your channel
i too wanted to add.
I am glad to see a real father, one who actually cares that his kids get to be kids.
Being a kid is very important to social development.
Derick, good job on providing the boys with the toys i would have loved as a kid.
Warms my heart.
I have 2 girls myself. They got to be kids, young teens, sub adults and now full adults, well adjusted and living happy lives. With great childhoods they often talk about among their friends. Boating, traveling, over landing, work for money, loved, cherished and listened to. Never did me or my lovely wife ignore their thoughts and concerns and dreams, we encouraged everything they wanted to do, advised them, never TOLD them what to do, we let them make choices, this lead to good choices, well thought out. They live that way today.
Thank you.
fathers need to have been kids to understand what kids need. Derrick your one big Kido. Glad to be able to view your work. thank you for the time you give to us Subscribers. really thank you.
I just discovered your channel like 3 weeks ago and I've watched so many hours of you in a row it's like I've learned a whole new language.
A guy has become addicted.
Also, motivated.
Hyup. That'll happen to a feller. And quite a few fellettes.
it just bottles my mind how many fellas have said the same thing
He will keep a feller hooked
I enjoy everything you and your wife put out on the interwebs.
There is always time for hugs! What a great dad Derek is!👍👍
That was definitely a proud dad moment "just floatin the values"
YEESSSS!!! A guy was running out of stuff to watch on CZcams, and I’ll be dipped, a fellers favorite CZcams channel posted another video. Thanks Derek! You are the best!! 🤙👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸😎😎
Lol a guy should probably get out into the garage and work on something
@@Trifiveguy yeah, maybe. I have a 67 Pontiac Catalina, and an 84 Corvette I tinker around with, plus my own CZcams channel to create content for. I’ve got a pretty full plate. There’s nothing that good to watch, so when VGG puts out new content, I get excited to see what a guy is doing. 👍👍🤙🤙
I love this channel...for everything it is: Good human beings; family; faith; wrenchin’; etc. Tonight I’ve heard some of the best music on the internet.
I'm happy AF Derek took a sponsor, it's mo money, mo bettah, for the ol' crew cab.
GJ VGG, y'all deserve ALL the successories
It's so nice to see that your family can just drop in to the new shop. I remember having to work away from home, and having ones family so close is such a blessing. Keep up the amazing work guys!
When it comes to the nuts & bolts or the in depth stuff on engines, I couldn't tell ya.
But watching a guy & a gal assembled an engine is like watching artists creating a masterpiece. 👍
She’s getting close! It’s so neat seeing this entire rig built from scratch. Thanks for all the great content 🍺
Glade to see your full throttle back on this truck can’t wait to see it complete
Looks like off to the bathroom to watch! This beats working any day!
I love this build and I loved that your wife and son came to help out with it. It will be awesome to see it running and driving and it will be a great goin' to town rig. Keep the great videos coming. We appreciate them.
The peepers scanner noise lol. "The Peepers Scanner" TM. On point with your humor and work as well this episode, Derek.
Its great that your youngest likes to work with you. Im 66 now but I have the fondest memories of doing everything with my Dad, He didn't work on cars but we fished and did everything together. I lost him way to early when I was 23 years old, but I still think about all we did. My two older brothers had no interest with fishing, and running errands. He will remember these days for ever. Love the Channel
Good to see some progress. 👍🏻
Quality takes time, and this square body is looking great!!
Thanks Danno
Derek your best videos by far are the ones like these, where you work on stuff in your own shop. To be honest, I don't even watch the SEMA or drag race , videos because everybody and his dog is doing that. What you are doing requires a lot of skill and I learn a lot from you. I love learning stuff, so I love it when you wrench on your own cars.
Note; cleetus doesn't wrench on his own cars--he hires it done. He can't build anything nor weld anything. He hires everything done.
Wow all new stuff. I'm impressed but I know you've earned it. Seeing Jessica and your son getting involved is great. Congrats and keep up the great work.
12:55 I love how the valley is funneled so that all the grit and dust coming off the flange with the wire wheel falls right on the cam. Great for performance, says the bearded man :)
It’s a nice video anyways
Derek and Jess and Mr. Bentley today.....Thanks for taking us through this in a step by step sort of way...I like the pace on the new Family Going to town rig. Definitely heading in the right direction!!!!!
A++!!!!! 5 out 5 Wabblepops!!!!
Love the way you just keep evolving your style, plenty of 'others' out there tryin to copy and getting it ALLLL wronggg. Keep up the great work feller!
It's fun to see you do this stuff for us that can't.
Great to see you in the garage again, doubly great to see Jess and your boy stop in, so now all us fellers out here can understand the logisticals behind the move to Tennessee. Amen, Brother. Can't wait to hear that pretty little LS gargle some onion juice!!!
You two are the most amazing couple. Fascinating site and brilliant partnership.
Thank you
Great to see that project moving forward. Next time you need to remove some old tape, grab the "heat-make-it-happener" and warm the tape up first. It will peel right off.
I liked the fact that when your son showed up to help Dad, he got to help with what you were doing. You didn't give him the broom to sweep the shop out. Probably why he is max-reving that Predator and not glued to a PlayStation. You are right, for most of us the LS build is about as 'hot' as we can afford. And it works. Good HP and lots of torque.
Love the true family atmosphere of this channel. Everyone’s involved (except those that don’t want too be) father son time, husband wife time. All very important
That LS is starting to look really sweet with all the shiny stuff. I learned a lot watching you out this together.
Digging this build. Simple and more within this feller's reach. My favorite part about VGG is that a feller's fellette and mini fellers are involved. Love that the first thing when your boy gets there is a hug. Always first thing with my Son too. Tough now that he lives 1600 miles away but still message or call every day to let him know I love him. Great family friendly content. Entertaining and sometimes I even learn a thing or three. Always looking forward to the next one. Take care.
That's awesome the little guy jumped in and helped you
So awesome to see this beauty getting some love and attention. And it's absolutely mindbottling how that cold snack stays upright whilst Derek is moving about so quickly. A true magician.
I love this show I absolutely love Derek and his family. I think it's great you can tell when Derek's been into the wobble pops, I love it
I’m really looking forward to seeing this truck drive down the road again.
A smile came across my face when I saw a VGG in the middle of the week, then you out did yourself with a hug for your son. Well what I’m trying to say is looking good. I can already hear it thundering down the road.
One good thing where your at now it doesn't get as cold as where you were.
Always great when we see Jessica and the kids helping in the garage !!
I dig the truck. I like the fact that you are making it as a goin' to town rig, instead of a full on race car. Keep it up!! I can't wait to see some burn outs in this rig!!
You absolutely HAVE TO “test on it” the correct way!!! 😬🤘
Thanks for the mid-week update. Man, Derek has one heck of a fellete. I'd love to get my wife to help me do projects like that, but her mechanical knowledge only consists of putting a fuel nozzle in and pumping gas (barely). A guys tried to get her interested in the learning but she's got no interest. She helped me once put a steering box in my truck and all I asked her to do was hold the box up while I put the bolts in through the backside. And a guy learnt not to ask for help again.
My wife was the same and we have been married almost 34 yrs., She would help me in the garage on auto repairs upon request only pretty much when I needed an extra pair of hands, but always checked to see if I was hungry or needed anything, no complaints here, just traditional husband and wife roles.
Then, the last dozen or so years (she us a career High School Science Teacher), we have mentored High School Robotics students together...I took a direct interest in her career and once we did mechanical work together that long, on this last New Year's Eve, I was watching One of the VGG vids, and SRC, Old Man's Garage, TJ at Cleetus' X-Mas tree race, and she popped the question..."Do ya miss it?"
I said "miss what?"
"Do ya miss Drag Racing?"
"You bet I do!" I simply said. She said, so let's do something with that race car in the garage, I will help! See, she saw Jessica and Derrick working together and smiling because they were accomplishing things together, and still smiling!
She was a trooper pulling that block with me a few weeks ago, and would not let me go today alone to drop off the patterns for cutting at the metals place, or the hardware and auto parts store run, and the machine shop checkup visit alone...Wants to stay fully engaged with the build, and even while she is school/teacher busy as I make progress each day, she comes out right away upon arrival home to check up on what new thing was accomplished, and wants to be filled in on the next step, and if she has a spare moment, gets her hands dirty.
She learned it is fun to step into it together!
Good luck on getting your spouses involved, but show them this video, maybe it will also happen to you!
The spark gap setting was priceless !!!! 🤣🤏👍
This was great to watch. Thank you Derek and Jessica. I can’t wait to see this complete.
I just did a similar install myself. You're probably going to find that after your intake is on, the oil pressure sender doesn't match the harness... Hopefully this finds you in time 🤠
My uncle used to race coups in western PA on dirt tracks. We used to visit back in the 70s and my brother and I got to help him build cars. He was a small block chevy guy through and through.
always fun hanging out with you folks
The LS build looks great and the family helping is awesome! Can’t wait to hear her fire up!
REALLY looking forward to the final product. You're for sure headed in the right direction. 👍🏼
Loved it. Always awesome family fun. It’s not too hot to fish or golf. Maybe he’s doing one of them.
I love the inclusion of your wife in your videos. And of course your son's as well. As always, your humor is spot on. Still giving the old Minnesota Twang to were voice. Love it!
Another great video Derek and Jessica. Of course, I will watch it maybe three more times and then refer back to it many more times! I don't even have an LS.
loving the build. I also just now discovered what the LS engine is all about and have this "where was I 20 years ago" on those.
I love that he includes his family in all the shenanigans.
Looking good hoping to hear it soon. Derek you were lucky Jessica came and helped as well as Little grip garage making a showing which is always a positive thing. 👍👍✌️
Loving the direction of this “repair”. Definitely makes me want to repair my 71’s 305 2bbl with an LS unit!
LS 5.3L is a no-brainer, a great base engine. The looks and direction for this build look perfect.
Derek! Run the steam port to the radiator. Not under the cap. Coolant continues to flow out of the steam tubes on the heads. If you knew that, my fault. Just wanted to be sure. Didn’t want you overheating that LS 🤘🤘🤘
Love the LS/fuel injected mill. Old school is cool, but the way your going is so reliable.
I absolutely love this rig. Independence hold a special place in my heart, but I'm a square body truck guy. I've been waiting for these videos, and to see this thing running in future videos
Pure AWESOMENESS! Can't wait to see this rig riding down the road! Also, an easy way to remove that tape is with a heat gun, then wipe it down with some solvent like Acetone, comes right off! A Feller needs to get him a P.E.B., Pre-Expended Bin, googleize on that, you'll know what I mean!
Got everything ah man could want, beautiful garage, beautiful lady, kids, home I'm shure. Lol awsome. Love this channel. I have decreased my stress level working on my rig ,cause after watching a few of these ,you realize it's not that serious and it all can be fixed. Thank you for your hard work and god bless.
Good Seeing You & Your Family Back At It The Crew Cab Dereck, Always Educational And Entertaining Good Sir, Be Blessed All, I’m Looking Forward To The Next One..
I for 1 love what your plan is for this truck. I can't wait to watch y'all going to town in her.
Looking good. I like how you anticipate options down the road. Small block is the way to go for a fuel sipper. Sequential turbos is the way to go for a little more Getty up and be mindful of gas milage.
Great video !! Enjoyed seeing the little fellow and the fellet helping a guy get things buttoned up.
So glad your getting this truck together. For what its worth I like where you are going with it.
add a little heat from a blow dryer and the tape will come off easier.
LOVE THIS CONTENT!!! I would love to see you do something with Matt’s Off-Road Recovery, Bleepin Jeep and Fab Rats, make it so! :)
Had the same thought!
That throttle Body is Sweet Derek very nice you can un bolt the cone for piping and out a different cone on @Vice Grip Garage
What is funny is I am not even a car guy and I have watched every single VGG episode, and look forward to the new ones.
Looking good, Derek! Cool to see Jessica again as well! Suggestion: When the costars come in, maybe put their handle up on the screen for a moment. I'm not sure if Jessica wants any more socials going on, but could help the LittleGrip following. I am out in the shop with a cold snack and your video was entertaining as always. Keep up the good work, Sir!
"The LS is the future of hot rodding." Caused me to smirk as I continue to work on a flathead Ford while watching a Tesla run 9's at Sick week.
Bad day at work yesterday, Came in this AM early to get caught up and seen the new video. Now i know my day will go right today!!!
I've been so excited about the Crew Cab videos
I can tell that's gonna be the coolest square body on the road.
Derek, on your fuel system. Look into the summit LS swap filter regulators. They work great, instead of having to mount one on the inner fender
Them things are junk lol they can’t handle a pump over 255
10.13 is the best part of the video Derek, cherish those times my friend!
Always great to see you encouraging your kids to be involved. And accepting of who they are and will be.
Coming together nice!
I love that Kroil stuff. It's great for working on cars with stuck thready thingies and it works amazingly well for cleaning up boomy sticks, both the long and hand-held variety. Stuff eats carbon like it's prom night.
I'm a Ford guy through and through yet there is something about this truck that excites me. I love the 73-79 Ford and Chevy trucks. Best looking ones out there. Can't wait to see this thing done and for Jessica to do a full send on it!!! Let 'er Smoke!!!
Well I can't believe I just grinned for 33minoots and 39secondaiz, but I gotta believe it 'cause my face hurts. Now I know these vidyas are supposed to be eggucational, imparting mototechnical knowledge 'n all, but I could listen to Derek's musings all day long on any subject under the sun, cold snacks, the price of hay, wonder what Tanya Tuckers doing etc. just love his comedic genius, perfect timing and the superb editing.
Oh and that hug melted a feller's heart! Happiness all around. 😎👍
Looking forward to more on this build, and btw, BRING BACK THE XL BRING THE THUNDER SHIRTS!!!
Derek, I really like watching a clean build as the stages are just so much clearer. From child memory, when doing a cylinder head anything, there was always some form of adhesive on the gaskets. Did I miss this for the Valley cover? Nit picking. The cars on the ramp are covered in crap!😪. Great video 👍. I have the same T that Jessica was wearing. Just an excellent design and colourway. Makes me happy. Regards Stephen.
a fan since day 1. i enjoy it all. (easy on the chinese music) Can't wait to see the crew cab finished.
