It still comes and goes at night and has evaded the traps so idk 🤷
If it does have babies they would be fine, because possum's are marsupials which means they Carry their babies in their pouch when they are small and Carry them on their backs when they get to big for the pouch. So it doesn't look like it had babies on its back yet.

When I lived down in FL, a coworker found a opossum that had been hit by a car. It had babies. She managed to keep one alive, and raised it for about a year. It got HUGE! But she eventually had to return it to the wild, cuz it never really domesticated. Some wild things just stay wild, no matter how much human contact it gets. It was a really cute pet though, while she had it.

Add some food coloring to hole when you pump, and see if it appears in pond or elsewhere.
Opossums are great animals. They are immune to rabies and they eat small bugs and ticks

The nice thing about opossums is that they do not carry rabies because their body temperature is too low, also, they’re unlikely to bite. They are a total bluff animal…. That is not that they can’t bite or they won’t. It’s just that they usually don’t.
Grown man spends afternoon harassing tiny animal. Floods its shelter, potentially drowns offspring, fails to catch it. Doesn’t plan to leave it alone.

Jut an fyi a piece of flex aluminum hose over the exhaust of the lawn tractor and into the hole works wonders. The CO puts their light out permanently and you can just bury the entrances easy peasy…..

I bet the smell was dead fish. You had said at the beginning of your video that when it floods you catch a bunch of fish out of that hole. I bet a bunch still was down there as it dried up, and became dinner for the little critter.

If you would have caught it, all it would have done is play dead. An opposum kept eating my friends outside dog food, it got really big. When he did catch it, he came out to leave for work. He walked by it, it fell over and played dead. He quickly went to the truck got out the cage with the thing laying there. He opened it and coaxed it in with his foot. Never tried to bite or anything just played dead the whole time. Cheers. 😊

In a scene from a movie with Tony Curtis and Cary Grant there was a line where Cary's character suggested dealing with things like a strip show. DON'T CONCERN YOURSELF WITH HOW IT'S DONE BUT ENJOY AS IT COMES OFF. Too much inconsequential stuff. Rather than stick a gun to our own heads we only have to click on something else or advance it forward past the detritus and soliloquy. I guess some people like going to a corner to stare at a wall if they last 40 minutes to get to the point.
